Chapter 404: Am I Really Going to Die?
Chapter 404: Am I Really Going to Die?
"You think you can kill me? That’s a joke. With what, just you?" Uncle Li nearly burst into laughter upon hearing Lin Feng’s words. How could a mere twenty-something young man think of killing him, an S-rank master? It was like a madman’s dream. Despite being slightly injured, if he went all out, he could easily take Lin Feng’s life—this time without holding back or giving Lin Feng any chance to turn the tables!
"Do you really think that was my full strength?" Lin Feng looked at Uncle Li with a mocking smile and retorted.
"You were already beaten to that state just now, and you still boast?" Uncle Li was taken aback by Lin Feng’s words but quickly recovered. Lin Feng had held back? Impossible! He was nearly killed by me, why would he hold back? That would be courting death. He must be bluffing, trying to disrupt my focus!
"Fine then, you’ll be the first one I fully unleash against," Lin Feng said, looking at Uncle Li as if he was staring at a corpse.
"What do you mean?" Hearing Lin Feng’s words, Uncle Li felt even more bewildered. What did he mean by fully unleashing for the first time? It all sounded utterly nonsensical!
Without acknowledging Uncle Li’s reaction, Lin Feng proceeded to unravel the bandage-like material from his body. As each piece fell to the ground, it smashed into the dirt, creating holes which left Uncle Li gawking. Is he even human?
Watching Lin Feng’s actions, Uncle Li became utterly shocked. At first, he thought Lin Feng was simply wrapped in bandages, but he hadn’t realized that these were weights. Observing the small pile of bandages that had made such indentations in the ground, Uncle Li conservatively estimated they weighed about eight hundred pounds. Lin Feng had been fighting with all that weight on him and hadn’t removed it even at the brink of death. He must be insane, truly insane!
"Let’s fight." Lin Feng completely ignored Uncle Li, uttered those two words, and with the half-piece of a dagger in hand, he moved in an instant. Lin Feng disappeared from his original spot, and not even a shadow could be caught in the air; his speed had surpassed the limits of human vision.
Ah! How had his speed become so quick all of a sudden? Could this be what he meant by fully unleashing? It was too fast, like a completely different person from before. I can’t even see him!
When Uncle Li saw Lin Feng vanish so abruptly, he couldn’t help but freeze in astonishment. Lin Feng’s speed seemed as though it had jumped several levels, faster than his own, impossible to track with the naked eye. How could he fight this?
Danger!
"Clang!"
"Swoosh swoosh swoosh..."
Uncle Li suddenly felt the danger, and instinctively positioned his Windbreaker in front of his neck, blocking Lin Feng’s dagger. Shockingly, although Lin Feng hadn’t released any Gang Qi, the mere blade wind from the dagger had cut off a few of his hair strands.
The speed was just too exaggerated! With just an internal outcry, Uncle Li knew he had to kill Lin Feng no matter what and could not play around anymore. Otherwise, he would be in real danger. With no hesitation, his other hand swung a blade strike at Lin Feng. Blade Gang carried a tearing momentum, aiming to cleave Lin Feng, because in such danger with Lin Feng out of sight, he could only rely on instinct, which was unbearably tense.
Watching the hand blade’s Blade Gang flying towards him, Lin Feng dodged with a swift side-step, then vanished again from Uncle Li’s view. The crescent-shaped Blade Gang blasted a huge crater into the ground not far away.
"Clang!"
When Lin Feng reappeared, it was behind Uncle Li, who instinctively swung the Windbreaker behind his back, blocking Lin Feng’s dagger. He then turned around at lightning speed with another hand blade. But the Blade Gang was just a bit too slow and missed Lin Feng, who, in turn, landed a heavy kick on his back.
With a "bang!" sound, the kick sent Uncle Li flying more than a hundred meters, until he crashed into a boulder, which exploded on impact,
"Crack!"
and left Uncle Li reeling in confusion.
Without stopping, Lin Feng’s figure flashed once more as he disappeared again.
"Clang!"
"Bang!"
"Clang!"
"Boom!"
...
This time, Lin Feng didn’t clash head-on with Uncle Li but chose to use his speed instead. Each appearance shook Uncle Li to the core, and each strike that missed was followed by a swift disappearance. If the situation allowed, Lin Feng wouldn’t forget to add a punch or a kick, leaving Uncle Li in an extremely disheveled state. Since Uncle Li couldn’t capture Lin Feng’s trace, he could only passively take the hits.
However, as time wore on, Uncle Li’s high state of alertness led to fatigue, and it was then that he truly felt the danger.
In an unguarded moment, Lin Feng’s dagger, aglow with a pale golden light, sliced open a cut on Uncle Li’s left shoulder. Uncle Li was astonished; ever since he had reached the S-rank, he hadn’t been injured, not even when facing S-rank adversaries. Yet now, Lin Feng, with just a broken dagger, had made him bleed, this...
But Uncle Li had no time to dwell on these thoughts as Lin Feng reappeared at his side, attacking again with the half dagger. Uncle Li could only hastily defend with Windbreaker, forcing Lin Feng away.
From that turning point, the wounds on Uncle Li’s body began to multiply and grow more severe, and it was then that he sensed real danger. He could no longer fend off Lin Feng’s attacks, and with Lin Feng’s speed surpassing his own, escape was no longer an option.
In that moment, countless waves of regret flooded Uncle Li’s mind. He could never have imagined that he, an S-rank master, would be faced with mortal peril. If he had known, he would have killed Lin Feng from the start; he couldn’t have fathomed that Lin Feng was such an unfathomable master with such a shocking trump card...
What weighed most heavily on him was that even now, Uncle Li didn’t understand what those green light spots were or what was going on. Lin Feng was on his last breath just moments ago, and then suddenly, his wounds all healed, leading to the current situation.
Now, Uncle Li truly regretted not killing Lin Feng with a single sword strike earlier. Instead, he waited and watched, and now it seemed likely he would meet his end here.
The more he thought, the more regret he felt, the more regret...
...
Yet Lin Feng did not cease, his half-dagger constantly inflicting fresh wounds on Uncle Li. Seizing a moment of inattention, Lin Feng snatched Windbreaker away like a phantom.
"Before I die, I want to know how I lost. How did your injuries suddenly heal? What were those green light spots?" Seeing Windbreaker snatched away, Uncle Li knew his life was in jeopardy, but he couldn’t die in peace without understanding his defeat.
"This is an insight into Heaven and Earth, a realm of perceiving the natural world. You have pursued what you call S-rank, but in reality, you’ve taken the wrong path," Lin Feng stated expressionlessly. If not for this breakthrough, he wouldn’t have been able to feel how extraordinary it was to comprehend the wonders between Heaven and Earth.
"..." Uncle Li heard Lin Feng’s words and was speechless, completely stunned. What, the wrong path? How could that be?
He had cultivated to S-rank to pursue the Heavenly Dao; how could he be on the wrong path? Uncle Li couldn’t believe what Lin Feng was saying; after all, every cultivator in the world followed the same path, step by step. How could it be as this young Lin Feng claimed? If so, it would mean all cultivators were on the wrong path, impossible! Impossible!
Uncle Li stared at Lin Feng, still unable to accept what Lin Feng said, because he simply could not accept that this young man could be superior to him, an S-rank master. Yet the reality unfolding before him made Uncle Li feel utterly powerless, with mixed feelings swirling and his mind in utter chaos...
"No! It cannot be!" Uncle Li roared in protest, full of unwillingness in his heart. He simply could not accept Lin Feng’s words. He had reached S-rank cultivation yet supposedly took the wrong path—impossible, impossible! Lin Feng in front of him had to be deceiving him! It can’t be true, it can’t be!
"Die!" Lin Feng saw Uncle Li had not grasped his point and knew it was like playing the lute to a cow. He no longer wasted words and directly unleashed a several meters long Sword Qi, glowing with green and gold light, accompanied by a dragon’s chant-like screech. It thundered towards Uncle Li, who still stood there dumbfounded.
"Roar..."
"Ah!"
Uncle Li instinctively sensed the overwhelming danger of the Sword Qi. But now it was too late to dodge, so he circulated his entire Cultivation Power to protect his body and arms, intending to forcibly block the strike.
"Bang!"
"Ah..."
Uncle Li thought his S-rank Cultivation Power would be enough to withstand the blow, but it didn’t turn out as he expected. The attack transcended any concept of Sword Qi, tearing through his protective True Qi and cutting into his flesh. It severed Uncle Li’s entire left arm and right forearm, scattering a cloud of blood mist into the air!
Am I really going to die? Uncle Li cried out in pain and then, seeing his arms on the ground, realized that his end had come; there was no escaping death now. Seeing Lin Feng holding the Windbreaker Sword, his heart bled inwardly; he never imagined that he’d die by the Windbreaker Sword.
