Chapter 1957 - 1939: Adjusting the Strategy
Chapter 1957 - 1939: Adjusting the Strategy
"Ah... No..."
Lian Rong’s screams echoed once more, but soon he couldn’t make a sound as his entire body was engulfed by the Fire of Heart Flame. His soul could only hold on for a brief moment before completely losing grip, burned to nothing in the blink of an eye, as if he had never existed at all!
In fact, at the last moment, Lian Rong wanted to self-destruct, but to his dismay, he couldn’t even carry it out. In other words, he didn’t even have a last resort to fight back, causing him to fall into utter despair, a state that led to him being consumed alive by the Fire of Heart Flame.
After burning Lian Rong to death, Lin Feng swiftly picked up Lian Rong’s Space Bag from the ground, shook his head, and prepared to leave. He planned to hand over these villains’ heads to the army stationed a few miles away, closing the Chapter on these miscreants without having to involve any more complications.
But suddenly remembering the little girl in the basement harmed by Lian Rong, he waved, placing the heads in a corner, and then stepped into the basement...
The little girl lay on the basement floor, completely unclothed, with a lot of blood between her legs. She looked like a corpse, her unblinking eyes filled with tears, utterly tragic.
Seeing this scene, Lin Feng sighed, waved his hand, making the girl faint, then began healing her injuries. Once her physical wounds were mended, Lin Feng dressed her up, and after pondering for a moment, he erased this part of her memory entirely.
After finishing these, Lin Feng left a sum of money near the girl, enough for her to live for several years. He then left with the heads.
As he arrived at the military camp sent to suppress the threat, his presence immediately instigated panic throughout the camp. Earlier, they had battled with those foes, who were virtually inhuman. Yet, the camp’s commander watched as Lin Feng flew over effortlessly, seemingly carrying many heads, which sparked his curiosity and prompted him to step forward.
"Who are you?"
Looking at Lin Feng, the commander, around forty years old, asked. He now felt that Lin Feng had no malicious intentions, unlike those seemingly superhuman foes they had faced before.
"You don’t need to know who I am. I’ve killed all those bastards in the village ahead; these are their heads. You can report this. There are still some survivors in the village, if possible, I hope you can find ways to offer some help." Lin Feng spoke calmly to the commander, waving his hand to let the heads placed before the commander.
"What, they’re all dead?"
"How is this possible? Those guys weren’t even afraid of bullets!"
"They... They all died..."
...
All the soldiers watching this scene were stunned, never expecting such an outcome. They thought, looking at Lin Feng floating in the sky, he appeared younger than most of them, yet the difference in ability was so vast. Previously, even after sacrificing many men, they hadn’t been able to kill a single one of those foes, not even using tanks and planes, forcing them to retreat here.
But those powerful inhuman individuals were killed by this young man, which seemed utterly unbelievable. They could not have imagined this outcome. Temporarily, looking at Lin Feng, everyone was engulfed in confusion. Only now did they realize that there were people in this world beyond their comprehension: the villains were like that, and so was this young man. If they hadn’t witnessed it today, they wouldn’t have believed such beings existed in this world.
Looking at Lin Feng floating in mid-air, their lips curled bitterly. At the moment, they truly didn’t know how to express their feelings, shaken by Lin Feng’s unimaginable power. Though they hadn’t seen the battle in person, they knew what those villains were like, and being able to kill them so effortlessly, even using the back of their foot to think made it clear Lin Feng was indescribably powerful.
Yet the more formidable Lin Feng was, the more defeated they felt. They had trained hard to protect their homeland, but compared to Lin Feng and those inhuman beings, their weapons were mere toys. Now, they were unsure whether continuing their training even had a purpose.
Lin Feng saw the soldiers’ reactions and said with a smile, "As you can see now, there indeed exist beings like me in this world, akin to Immortals in your eyes. But we have our own separate world; this incident is an exception. Normally, we wouldn’t interfere in the ordinary world, so there’s no need to despair. You are the backbone of this country, and your homeland relies on your protection. Don’t lose heart!"
He said this because he didn’t want the ordinary soldiers to feel dispirited. The Cultivation World should never coincide with the ordinary world. This situation arose because the people from the Immortal Realm came here without following the rules. This was merely an exception; the real national defense still depended on these soldiers.
Upon hearing Lin Feng’s words, the soldiers were instantly inspired, understanding that their skills were not inadequate. It was just that people like Lin Feng typically wouldn’t appear in the ordinary world, so everything remained the same as before.
The commander also understood Lin Feng’s intention at this point, looking at Lin Feng with gratitude in his eyes, smiling. He too hoped to restore his soldiers’ confidence, and Lin Feng’s words were incredibly helpful to that end; he did not want the troops feeling defeated and unable to recover.
"What you said we will execute immediately. I will have the soldiers enter the village to aid the survivors. As for the other matters, I will coordinate immediately to handle all subsequent issues in the village as best as possible. Rest assured." Looking at Lin Feng in mid-air, the commander spoke solemnly. Despite the difficulty in handling this matter, given his position, he would have done so even if Lin Feng hadn’t mentioned it.
Hearing the commander say this, Lin Feng nodded and remarked, "In that case, I’ll leave the rest to you."
With those words, Lin Feng drifted away in the eyes of everyone, disappearing in the blink of an eye, leaving the soldiers staring blankly at the empty sky...
"I order all troops to enter the village immediately and aid the populace!" The commander was the first to snap back to reality, issuing his order.
"Yes!"
"Yes!"
...
The soldiers responded promptly to the command, boarding vehicles like the wind, quickly assembling towards the village...
Meanwhile, Lin Feng had reached the cave Lian Rong mentioned and found the Teleportation Formation used to send Lian Rong and his men here. Observing the formation, Lin Feng was somewhat surprised because it was entirely different from any formations found before, much larger than those earlier. Previous formations could only transport a few people at once, while this one could send dozens at once, suggesting it had an unusual origin.
Standing by the Teleportation Formation, Lin Feng carefully examined it. Previously, he lacked the realm to notice the issues he saw now. After pondering for several hours, he finally decided not to destroy the formation but erase the spatial positioning coordinates on the Array Plate, nullifying its function at the Immortal Realm end.
As for this formation, Lin Feng planned to see if he could replicate it. If so, when his strength reached a certain level, he could use it to penetrate the Immortal Realm for some harassment! Thus, at this moment, Lin Feng didn’t leave but focused intently on studying this Teleportation Formation inside the cave.
The scales of previous formations were too minor to hold value, but this could transport dozens at once, which held remarkable worth, kindling such ideas in him...
A month later...
The Great Elder of the Holy Soul Sect led three other sects to conquer four cultivation realms, acquiring many valuable items. However, the Great Elder was rather disappointed to find only one Black Spirit Stone among these four realms, which was not enough to report back to the Sect.
Consequently, he didn’t rush further actions, instead contemplating whether it was unnecessary to target the weakest cultivation realms, for the chances of finding Black Spirit Stones were very low there. He considered turning their focus towards more moderate cultivation domains, causing him to consult Sect Master Xiao Tianrong.
"Sect Master, from our recent conquests of other cultivation realms, we’ve only acquired a single Black Spirit Stone. I think we should adjust our targets, stop focusing on weaker realms where the probability of finding Black Spirit Stones is extremely low. I suggest conquering moderate cultivation realms instead, maybe that way we’d have better gains." The Great Elder spoke candidly to Xiao Tianrong.
"I see..."
Upon hearing the Great Elder, Xiao Tianrong finally understood the progress of their conquests and was surprised by how things had turned out. After some serious thought, he realized that continued delay wasn’t an option; achieving just one Black Spirit Stone over more than a month was indeed too slow.
Eventually, hesitating a bit, he looked at the Great Elder and said, "In principle, I agree with your suggestion, but I can’t make the decision alone. Let me seek the guidance of the Patriarch, and if he concurs, there shouldn’t be an issue."
Having said that, he left to find Patriarch Xiao Ke. Once Xiao Ke learned of the expedition’s pace, he too was concerned, since technically, the conquest order was issued by him. The outcomes were undoubtedly less than expected, so a change in strategic approach was necessary; otherwise, they would gain little Black Spirit Stone even after sweeping through all weaker cultivation realms.
After weighing the pros and cons, Patriarch Xiao Ke offered his opinion.
