Chapter 1892 - 1874: Source of All Immortals
Chapter 1892 - 1874: Source of All Immortals
"Junior Brother, why have you come to me?" Fang Gu looked at Lin Feng and asked curiously. The junior brother is so busy; how does he have time to come here?
"Senior Brother, I have a question for you." Lin Feng looked at Fang Gu and asked seriously, "How much do you know about the Immortal Realm, and how much do you know about Earth?"
"Immortal Realm? Earth?" Fang Gu was momentarily confused by Lin Feng’s sudden question, not understanding what Lin Feng meant!
"What I mean is, why does the Immortal Realm have to invade Earth when Earth’s Spiritual Energy is so scarce? Why do these people target it?" Lin Feng asked Fang Gu lightly, thinking that Fang Gu, having lived for so long, would have seen more than him. Therefore, he wanted to seek Fang Gu’s opinion to see if it aligned with his expectations.
"Junior Brother, you’re talking about this? I don’t really understand much about the Immortal Realm, but I read something in an ancient book. Back in ancient times, there was no Immortal Realm. During the Ancient Era, Earth was called the Source of All Immortals, and countless great powers existed there. Now, those Inner Pavilion Elders in the sect whom you’ve subdued belong to the late period of that era when they were sealed. They know a lot about that era, so why don’t you ask them?"
Hearing Lin Feng’s question, Fang Gu was momentarily speechless. After thinking for a moment, he directly gave Lin Feng a suggestion. If you want to ask about these things, you should find someone who knows them; the Inner Pavilion Elders are just suitable. Turning to him was quite pointless, as he was only mediocre at Artifact Refining, and didn’t have much thought to spare on other things.
Upon hearing Fang Gu’s advice, Lin Feng immediately understood, apologized, and bowed to Fang Gu before disappearing from Fang Gu’s sight. He returned to Holy Soul Sect, scanned with his Divine Sense, and located Shi Qing. With a flicker of his body, he appeared in Shi Qing’s room.
Shi Qing was surprised to see Lin Feng suddenly appear in his room, not understanding what Lin Feng was up to, nor what Lin Feng meant. But before he could speak, several jars of wine appeared before him. Although they weren’t opened, the aroma was already leaking out, instantly bringing a smile to Shi Qing’s face.
"Drinking!"
Lin Feng saw Shi Qing smile, and he smiled too. He then spoke directly; Shi Qing was a wonderful person, arguably the only person from the Sealing Time era he got along well with. So he didn’t want to bring up the matter first but wanted to drink with Shi Qing.
"Sure, drinking!" Shi Qing’s smile grew even brighter as he replied loudly.
Having spoken, with a lift of his hand, a jar of wine fell into his hand like he was caressing a baby. His hand circled the rim of the jar, opening it. He then flicked a single finger, causing the wine to flow into his mouth like a living creature. Seeing Shi Qing drink so elegantly sparked Lin Feng’s interest, and he imitated Shi Qing.
In an instant, the two of them each drank a jar of wine, filling the room with its fragrance. After emptying those two jars, Shi Qing spoke while walking towards the remaining jars.
"Sect Master, you didn’t come just to drink, right?" With that, Shi Qing opened another jar and tossed it to Lin Feng.
Lin Feng caught the wine with a smile, tasted it, and then said to Shi Qing, "I have some things I can’t figure out and wanted to come chat with you."
"Oh?" Shi Qing felt surprised hearing Lin Feng say this, inquisitively uttering a word, then picked up another jar and continued, "Sect Master, what do you want to talk about?"
"Do you know about the Ancient Era? Nowadays, the information here on Earth is mostly recorded in ancient books; I want to know what the Ancient Era was like from your perspective, to see if there are any differences." Lin Feng asked Shi Qing earnestly, which was his ultimate purpose for coming.
"The era I was sealed in wasn’t too distant from the Ancient Era. That era was a flourishing age for Earth’s cultivators, with countless Heavenly Immortal Realm powerhouses, and Earth Immortal Realm powerhouses as numerous as cattle. Sects were everywhere, so many super powerhouses appeared in such a large place like Earth, indicating how great things were!"
"But in the later part of the Ancient Era, all Human Immortal Realm powerhouses suddenly disappeared, completely vanished, with no one knowing where they went. Not even leaving any message behind. This made everyone at the time deeply fearful, yet helpless!"
"Afterwards, problems began on Earth; Spiritual Energy suddenly began to decline, causing the entire map of the Cultivation World to start falling; no one knows the exact reason. After that, the Ancient Era ended, and the era I was sealed in emerged. During my sealing era, although Spiritual Energy didn’t decline, its richness couldn’t support cultivators to break through to the Heavenly Immortal Realm, so no matter how extraordinary one’s cultivation, one couldn’t break through to the Heavenly Immortal Realm."
"In my era, many Earth Immortal Realm Peak powerhouses joined forces attempting to understand why they couldn’t break through, yet couldn’t find a reason! This became an unsolvable mystery from my era onward..."
Shi Qing looked at Lin Feng, speaking while drinking. He too sought reasons at the time, and if not for his fondness for drinking leading him to meet that mysterious powerhouse, he wouldn’t have been sealed and missed many things. Yet, he’s somewhat thankful for that mysterious powerhouse because otherwise, he wouldn’t have met Lin Feng!
As Shi Qing spoke, Lin Feng nodded, analyzing various causes. So many great powers from the Ancient Era suddenly vanished, and afterwards, Earth’s Ancient Era ended; the hidden issues here are enormous. Did these people foresee upcoming issues on Earth or did their departure cause Earth’s Spiritual Energy decline? All these remain unknown!
What exactly happened here? Where did those great powers go?
Lin Feng’s thoughts unconsciously drifted toward another angle; he couldn’t believe all those great powers just died collectively. Others might not grasp what true Heavenly Immortal powerhouses signify, but he knew well that his old and supposedly immortal master was someone omnipotent and omniscient; being at that level, dying wasn’t such an easy feat!
Suddenly, he thought of a question and promptly asked, "Wait, according to what you said, those great powers vanished abruptly; it’s likely they went somewhere. But then, what about the stories of the ten Heavenly Immortals, and what is the deal with the Heavenly Immortal Mansion Ruins? I once explored two Heavenly Immortal Mansion Ruins!"
This was Lin Feng’s perplexity. Heavenly Immortals can’t die, so they must still be alive. If they went somewhere, what are the Heavenly Immortal Mansion Ruins that appear now all about?
"That’s quite simple, the Ancient Era spanned countless years, and even Heavenly Immortal-level powerhouses had lifespan limitations, though those limits were extremely exaggerated. Except for Heavenly Immortal-level powerhouses, no one knew how long they could live. Moreover, don’t overlook one thing, that era wasn’t a peaceful era; conflicts among powerhouses were frequent. If two similarly strong Heavenly Immortals fought and sustained heavy injuries, it could lead to death due to other Heavenly Immortal ambushes; hence, having Heavenly Immortal Mansion Ruins is normal. Don’t mention your era having such ruins, it was common even in my time."
"Regarding the ten Heavenly Immortals story you mentioned, I haven’t heard of it. At the Heavenly Immortal Realm, all fame and fortune are discarded, and no one would fight for a ranking that means nothing to them, as typically they wouldn’t appear." Shi Qing said while drinking, this is all he knew; though there were some differences from what Lin Feng currently described, overall, they were similar.
After hearing Shi Qing’s explanation, Lin Feng suddenly had a spark of enlightenment; it seemed he finally understood something. The Ancient Era is incredibly distant, spanning countless years with too many events occurring. No one could detail what the era was really like; thus, various occurrences in that era were possible!
In an instant, Lin Feng thought of another question and continued asking, "Do you know why Earth was called the Source of All Immortals?"
"Source of All Immortals?" Upon hearing Lin Feng’s question, Shi Qing pondered briefly and then answered seriously, "Many powerhouses have considered this question, puzzled why Earth could nurture so many Heavenly Immortal-level powerhouses while other cultivation worlds’ strongest were merely Human Immortal Realm. I forgot to mention, Human Immortal Realm powerhouses who could ascend were ascending to Earth then, not the so-called Immortal Realm now."
"This question troubled many during my era, with no explanation forthcoming. Yet, the one certainty is that Earth certainly differed from other cultivation worlds, having something they didn’t, leading to Earth’s flourishing during the Ancient Era!"
After listening to Shi Qing, Lin Feng spoke no further and vanished from Shi Qing’s presence, standing alone on a cloud contemplating all of Shi Qing’s words.
Ancient Era!
Countless great powers suddenly vanished!
End of the Ancient Era!
Spiritual Energy decline!
Source of All Immortals...
...
These keywords spun in Lin Feng’s mind, analyzing every possibility. This was crucial for him; only by discerning the Immortal Realm’s ultimate goal could he understand where the critical point lay to safeguard Earth!
Unintentionally, three entire days passed as Lin Feng stood motionless on the cloud like a wax statue!
Suddenly, a smile appeared on Lin Feng’s face, and he opened his eyes. He finally roughly determined two possibilities: the first being that the great powers from the Ancient Era discovered a pathway to another world, leading their departure to Earth’s decline. The second possibility is that they discovered problems on Earth, and in trying to fix it, chose seclusion, leading the outside world to falsely believe they suddenly disappeared.
