Chapter 177 Ah! Shark!
Chapter 177 Ah! Shark!
On a beach, far from the reception, a group of children was playing in the water while the adults on shore, delighted to see the children so happy, watched and chatted with one another.
Suddenly, a splash arose from the sea, and a figure appeared in the water, which greatly puzzled the children. They hadn’t seen this uncle before, so how did he come out from the water?
"Uncle, how did you come out from the water?" asked a particularly brave child, as this uncle’s sudden emergence from the water was too strange. Could it be that he can breathe underwater?
"It’s okay, kids. Uncle was just playing a game with some big fish under the sea," Lin Feng said to the brave little boy, who he took a liking to. He changed his tone, speaking gently to the boy, afraid that the child would be frightened.
"But, uncle, can you breathe underwater? I didn’t see you go into the sea," the little boy said to the young uncle in front of him. For some reason, he felt especially safe around him, prompting him to ask another question. If the uncle was playing with the fish underwater, it must be a fun thing to do. Why can’t I do it too?
"Uncle can’t breathe underwater, but uncle knows how to play with fish. Be a good boy, go back to the shore," Lin Feng said softly, patting the little boy’s bottom, signaling him to go onshore.
Parents of the nearby children, witnessing Lin Feng’s sudden appearance from the water, felt very curious. They had not noticed anyone playing in that area, so where had he come from? Nonetheless, seeing Lin Feng consoling the children without showing any malice, the parents relaxed, thinking perhaps he had swum over, and so they didn’t give much thought to his sudden emergence.
Lin Feng had just reached the beach when cries of alarm came from the water behind him.
"Ah! Sharks!" A teenager spotted a dozen or so medium-sized sharks suddenly surfacing and screamed in shock! Then he ran frantically towards the shore, calling for his friends to escape with him.
"Sharks!"
"Run!"
"Mommy..."
"Waaah..."
...
Hearing the teenager’s cry, the other children also saw the sharks and were terrified into fleeing to the shore, with the scene rapidly descending into chaos. The innate fear of sharks drove every child to run for their lives towards the shore.
The parents, upon hearing the children shouting about sharks, at first thought it was a playful joke amongst the children. But when they saw the dozen or so medium-sized sharks floating on the sea, they panicked completely. They dashed into the water to bring their children to shore. In such a moment, everyone was bewildered, with only one thought on their minds: get their children to safety, nothing else mattered.
"Dingding, come to mommy quickly!"
"Baby, where are you?"
"Xiaobao, come to daddy."
...
Soon, the parents had brought all the children to the safety of the beach. The children, terrified by the unexpected appearance of the sharks, were shivering in their parents’ arms. Some were crying uncontrollably.
When the children were no longer in danger, the parents looked again at the dozen sharks floating not far away in the water, only then realizing that the sharks had seemed unconscious, immobile. Otherwise, how could everyone have gotten safely ashore without injury? It was impossible!
But why were these sharks unconscious here, floating on the surface of the water? Now calm, the parents were even more confused. Sharks had never appeared here before, so why had so many suddenly shown up today? This was abnormal. Moreover, all the sharks being unconscious and floating on the surface of the sea made the situation even more mysterious. How did the sharks become unconscious? These were sharks, not the big carps one could easily knock out in the market!
Knocked out? Could it be that the young man who had just come out of the sea had stunned them? That’s impossible! He was so young, how could he possibly stun those sharks? It’s not just about a single shark, even one would be improbable, but what exactly happened then? But he was the only one who had come out from the sea. If anyone could stun sharks, it had to be him. Everyone else was just a child. And the sharks appeared immediately after he came ashore; they had to be related to this young man.
"Did this young man really do it?"
"Who is he?"
"That’s a dozen sharks!"
"Did one man fight the sharks?"
...
The parents were completely flabbergasted; convincing them that the young man sitting not far away was the one who had knocked out these sharks seemed less plausible than calling him Superman. If he had single-handedly taken care of all these sharks, what was he if not Superman!
Where on earth did this young man come from? No one had ever heard of someone capable of fighting off over a dozen sharks. Is he even human...
Regardless, the first thing to do was to call the police and let them deal with these terrifying sharks. Having made up their minds, one of the parents proactively dialed the emergency number, briefly explained the situation, and then held their child, waiting for the police.
Seeing the children terrified and knowing someone had called the police, no one felt like they could just leave. They could only wait patiently for the police to arrive, although their gazes kept wandering towards Lin Feng, sitting alone not far away.
"Hello, is this the police? There are more than a dozen sharks here!"
"What! More than a dozen sharks?"
"Yes, right here by Yuegang University’s beach. We were with our kids playing here, and then these sharks appeared by the shore like they’ve been knocked out. They’re not moving at all, it’s frightening!"
"Understood, we’ll be there immediately."
Wang Daqi and Wu Zhe of the police could hardly believe the call from the control center. Encountering sharks at Yuegang’s beaches was possible—many such incidents happened every year. But over a dozen sharks at once? That just couldn’t be. There had never been a record of witnessing so many sharks at once in Yuegang’s history. Surely these parents were exaggerating. Besides, they even claimed that the sharks were passed out on the surface of the water! These are sharks, for goodness’ sake. Who could knock sharks unconscious, especially not over a dozen at the same time? Who would believe such an outlandish tale!
"This..."
However, when the two arrived and saw the dozen sharks floating on the sea, they were at a loss for words, beads of cold sweat appearing on their foreheads. Good heavens! If these weren’t passed out, how many people could they have bitten!
This was real. It was the most number of sharks ever seen in Yuegang’s history. Typically, it was already remarkable to spot just one, yet today, so many had appeared. What in the world was happening? Could it be that a group of sharks had swum to Yuegang?
The sharks were all belly-up on the water, indicating they really were knocked out on the surface. We’re talking about over a dozen sharks here—who could have knocked them out? He couldn’t possibly be human! Forget about a dozen sharks; even knocking out one would make that person more than human. Sharks are incredibly strong, and in water, no one could be their match, let alone knock them unconscious. It’s simply beyond human capability!
So how did these sharks get knocked out?
Faced with the bewildering scene, officers Wang Daqi and Wu Zhe could not figure it out and had no choice but to phone their station, asking for backup to handle these sharks.
"Hello, what exactly happened here, did you see anything?" It was essential to do their jobs, so Wang Daqi proactively took out a notebook and began recording the incident.
"The kids shouted about a shark, and all of us adults ran into the sea to find our kids..." The parent who made the emergency call repeated the events in detail, cooperating fully with the police investigation. It was imperative to address these sharks promptly; otherwise, them merely floating there was far too scary, and it would be even more troublesome if they awoke.
"When did the sharks surface?" Wang Daqi asked as part of routine questioning; it was vital to clarify the situation.
"It was when the kids screamed about the sharks that we saw them. But after calming down, we realized these sharks were motionless." The parent took a moment to recall the incident and answered the police officer’s questions earnestly.
"Did you see anyone else?" Wang Daqi became even more intrigued. According to the parent’s account, these sharks must have been knocked out by someone. But who could be so formidable as to knock out over a dozen sharks? It seemed there was no one in the world capable of such a feat.
"There was a young man. He wasn’t with us. He had just come ashore, and then the sharks floated up!" Hearing the officer’s question prompted the parent to remember the scene. The sharks were noticed after the young man came ashore. Could it be that he had knocked out the sharks?
Good Lord! How could that be possible! How could that young man have knocked out those sharks? To put it bluntly, he wasn’t even as big as one shark, let alone a bunch of them. That’s just not possible!
"A young man? Where is he?" Upon hearing this, Wang Daqi immediately perked up. If these sharks were knocked out, then there was only one possibility—it must have been this young man. To incapacitate so many sharks—could he still be human? Right now, no matter what, he had to see who this young man was. Could he be some kind of superhero? Otherwise, how could a normal person accomplish such an absurd task?
"Yeah, where is he?" Wu Zhe had been quietly listening to Wang Daqi’s questions and scouting around for clues. But hearing about a young man piqued his interest. He had rapidly come to realize that if they weren’t mistaken, this young man was the key to the entire incident and could well be the person who knocked out the group of sharks.
These were over a dozen sharks, and although they weren’t large, they were still sharks! Any normal person would’ve been frightened into running away, not to mention taking on over a dozen sharks. That’s just asking for a death wish!
"Eh? Where did he go?" Pointing towards the beach, the parent wanted to show the police officers where Lin Feng was, but was surprised to find that there was no one there. The young man had been there just a moment ago, how could he have disappeared in the blink of an eye? This left the parent rather embarrassed; the young man had clearly been right there before—where could he have gone?
