Chapter 1573 - 1571: Whose Place Is This?
Chapter 1573 - 1571: Whose Place Is This?
"Forget it, I’m not dealing with you anymore, just quickly get the students out of here, and let’s pretend this never happened." Though feeling reluctant deep inside, he had no other solution, and could only say helplessly. Now, he could only hope that Lin Feng would quickly take these students away to restore order in the police station. As for the incident where Lin Feng hit him earlier, he had to swallow it down.
However, what frustrated Zhang Jian was that even though he had compromised, Lin Feng still wasn’t letting go of the issue.
"That’s not possible, I must see Li Jingpu today." Lin Feng didn’t even look at Zhang Jian as he spoke directly. He wanted to uncover the truth, and no one could stop him.
"You still want to see Li Jingpu? Then don’t blame me for being rude. I’ll arrest you first! Let’s see if you dare to assault a police officer again!" Zhang Jian, who was already suppressing his anger, was enraged upon hearing Lin Feng’s words and lost his control. After shouting, he lunged at Lin Feng. The flames of his anger had consumed his rationality. A teacher acting so arrogantly in front of him, regardless of who Lin Feng was, he was determined to arrest him. He couldn’t believe Lin Feng would dare to fight back, thinking that he, as the deputy captain of the criminal police team, would definitely classify any counter-action as an open assault on a police officer.
But to his surprise, just as he lunged forward, several officers nearby forcibly held him back. No matter how he struggled, he couldn’t break free, and Vice Director Zhou He couldn’t hold back anymore and shouted angrily at Zhang Jian, "Stop this nonsense! If you dare speak again, I’ll put you in detention!"
Zhou He was truly angry now, realizing that Lin Feng was not someone a mere deputy captain could offend. Even Zhou himself dared not offend Lin Feng, let alone consider taking action against him. This wasn’t just about pushing himself into a pit; it was the looming recollection of past incidents involving Lin Feng at the police station that still filled him with dread.
Hurriedly walking over to Lin Feng, he respectfully said to him, "Mr. Lin, we truly apologize. We are not intentionally blocking you, but this issue involves diplomatic matters which none of us have the authority to permit your entry. Can you please understand our position?"
Zhou He adopted a very humble posture, hoping to discuss the matter with Lin Feng to avoid further escalation. Things were already spiraling out of control. If Lin Feng continued to stir trouble, the situation would become irreparable. So, even if it meant apologizing to Lin Feng, he didn’t mind as long as it stopped Lin Feng from pursuing his previous intentions. Yet, much to Zhou He’s surprise, despite his deferential attitude, Lin Feng still showed him no face.
"Are you letting me in alone, or are we all going in together?" Lin Feng didn’t respond directly to Zhou He but asked calmly.
Hearing Lin Feng’s words, Zhou He almost coughed up blood. He hadn’t expected Lin Feng to be so persistent on this issue, even after explaining the consequences. Yet despite this, Lin Feng remained steadfast. What was he to do? If Lin Feng wasn’t allowed entry, who knew what might happen; but if he was allowed in, the people at the South Korean Embassy would certainly oppose it, possibly triggering a series of disputes. He truly didn’t want to cause a major incident.
For a moment, Zhou He was at a loss, his mouth opening and closing without words. Emotionally, he wished to let Lin Feng in, but rationally he knew the issue was too far-reaching. Even as the Deputy Chief of Police, he couldn’t bear the consequences, leaving him standing in place, deeply conflicted...
"Let our Teacher Lin in!"
"Let our Teacher Lin in!"
...
The students, paying no heed to anything else, began voicing their support the moment they saw Zhou He blocking Lin Feng. In an instant, hundreds if not thousands of voices echoed within the police station courtyard, growing more intense by the second. Anyone could sense the students’ heightened emotions!
Beyond just the students, even the onlookers in the vicinity began unanimously voicing their desire for Lin Feng to be let in to handle the matter. A student had been beaten to death by South Koreans, and any Huaxia citizen naturally sought justice. Though ordinary people couldn’t achieve much, joining the students in solidarity was achievement enough.
This...this was a truly insane development!
Zhou He, initially caught in his quandary, was suddenly alarmed by the sheer number of people, totaling over a thousand within the police station courtyard alone, not to mention those outside. If one considered the individuals outside the police station too, there were certainly several thousand. Losing control of such a crowd could lead to dire consequences, a thought triggering cold sweat down Zhou He’s back.
"Well...Teacher Lin, we...I...we agree to let you in, but outside..."
Weighing his options, Zhou He cautiously addressed Lin Feng. At this point, refusal was not an option, not just from Lin Feng but even the students, who would not accept it. If the students erupted in anger, the police station might be torn apart. He couldn’t bear such responsibility, so letting Lin Feng in became the only solution. Whatever the embassy’s response, he no longer considered, as no one could balance the situation under such circumstances.
Lin Feng, hearing Zhou He’s words, nodded without further troubling Zhou He, then turned to the students and said, "All of you return to the school, I’ll handle things here."
The words were simple, yet any of the students knew what kind of person Lin Feng was, and thus obeyed him obediently, leaving to return to school as instructed. They harbored no doubts about Lin Feng’s assurance. If anyone else had voiced these words, they wouldn’t have believed them, but coming from Lin Feng, they firmly believed justice would be served, simplicity born of belief in Lin Feng!
Watching the crowd gradually disperse, Zhou He sighed with relief. It had been many years since the police station was surrounded like this. After Lin Feng arrived, the crowd vanished after just a few sentences, indicating Lin Feng’s unthinkable influence among the students. Nonetheless, the dispersal of the crowd meant Zhou He achieved his aim. Lin Feng, concurrently, signaled to Ding Wan’er and employed his Divine Sense to outline subsequent steps to her. With Ding Wan’er managing matters externally, he was relieved of any concerns.
"Mr. Lin, please."
With utmost courtesy, Zhou He gestured for Lin Feng to proceed, who then casually walked towards the detention room, leaving Zhou He somewhat dumbfounded, thinking how Lin Feng knew Li Jingpu was in the detention room. Little did Zhou He realize, Lin Feng had already scanned the entire police station using his Divine Sense. Finding no trace of his target on the upper floors, he correctly surmised the detention room on the first floor as the exceptional spot, hence headed straight there.
In no time, they were approaching the detention room, when suddenly Zhou He paused briefly and remarked to Lin Feng, "Mr. Lin, things are tough for us too. Please try not to spill any blood, otherwise, we really couldn’t explain it to the higher-ups."
Admittedly, saying this filled his heart with trepidation, for none understood better than Zhou He the nature of Lin Feng. If Lin Feng chose to kill, no one here could stop him, and even if he did, the ramifications wouldn’t be significant. However, this wouldn’t apply to them. If Lin Feng killed someone here, they would undoubtedly take the fall. Zhou didn’t want an irretrievable crisis.
Lin Feng looked at Zhou He without uttering a word, simply nodding.
Seeing Lin Feng’s assent, Zhou He sighed internally with relief. Knowing Lin Feng as he did, Lin Feng’s manner indicated that Lin could still be pacified, offering room for compromise, easing Zhou’s heavy heart.
Soon, the group reached the door of the detention room, not particularly big nor small, around forty to fifty square meters in size. Within, two corners equipped with simplistic, steel-bar-based holding cells held two cells each about ten square meters. At present, Li Jingpu was confined within one, while Song Park Joon and two embassy personnel sat outside the cell’s proximity on three chairs. Upon seeing the group enter, Song Park Joon and his companions promptly rose from their seats.
"How could you let outsiders in? Our people have diplomatic immunity, and outsiders aren’t allowed to contact us. Isn’t your police station aware of this? Get out, leave now! We don’t want to see anyone! We’ve lodged a stern protest, and your Tianhai City Police Bureau will be held accountable for this entire affair!"
Song Park Joon, filled with rage upon seeing Lin Feng, knew the incident had blown up considerably. Having communicated with higher-ups to prevent further escalation, retreating to the detention area for safety, he had already discussed with the police not to allow any outsider into the detention room. Yet now an outsider had appeared. If the outsider was a journalist who made associated reports, the situation would become uncontrollable; hence his outrage.
"Is this our place or theirs?"
Witnessing the other’s arrogance, Lin Feng’s brow slightly furrowed and he casually asked. Observing this person behave so arrogantly in a police station suggested these people had grown used to wielding power capriciously. Others may have viewed Song Park Joon and his group differently, but in Lin Feng’s eye, they were merely clowns.
"Well...this is obviously our place." Zhou He, upon hearing Lin Feng’s words, found himself speechless. He, too, harbored no goodwill towards these individuals. However, given their embassy status, he had no power over them, unable to silence them. Even as Deputy Chief, he felt no pressure on them.
