Chapter 1310 - 1308: Life-Saving Grace
Chapter 1310 - 1308: Life-Saving Grace
Xia Yunfeng and the children watched as the two mighty Demon Kings began battling the other demon beasts. Their minds were flooded with confusion. Why would these demon beasts dare to rebel against beings so fearsome that their names were well-known across the Hidden World as unstoppable, invincible entities? The sight of them challenging the two Demon Kings was utterly unbelievable. They couldn’t fathom where these beasts found such audacity!
"Lin Feng, aren’t the two Demon Kings the rulers of the Lost Forest? How could this happen?" Xia Lalan asked Lin Feng as she watched the battle in sheer disbelief. The reputation of the two Demon Kings had persisted for centuries—how could they lose control over their own subordinates?
"This situation isn’t normal. Something unknown must have happened recently; otherwise, we wouldn’t witness such chaos. But don’t worry, the two of them can manage this," Lin Feng replied to Xia Lalan coolly. Truth be told, he also found it peculiar that the demon beasts in the Lost Forest had rebelled, especially with the involvement of those Exotic Monster Beasts that didn’t belong to the Hidden World. One thing was certain—the anomalous situation was closely tied to those creatures.
"Let’s hope they resolve it quickly. The Xia Family has had some respite for now, but if this continues much longer, I doubt they can hold out," Xia Lalan said fretfully, nodding at Lin Feng’s words. Though his reasoning made sense, her gaze fell on the Xia Family’s fierce battlefield, stirring unease. She absolutely could not allow calamity to befall her family.
"Don’t worry. It’ll be over soon," Lin Feng reassured her after hearing her concerns, fully understanding her anxiety. His calm words sought to comfort her, and then he closed his eyes, unleashing his Divine Sense to influence the entire battlefield.
In almost an instant, the Xia Family’s forces fell into precise alignment under Lin Feng’s guidance. Their cooperation became impeccably synchronized, increasing their efficiency in slaying demon beasts severalfold, temporarily alleviating the family’s dire predicament.
The two Demon Kings experienced similar results. With Lin Feng’s Divine Sense intervening, they disregarded distractions and followed his commands without hesitation. Within moments, the tide of battle shifted, and victory began tipping in favor of the two Demon Kings.
Witnessing this change in the situation, the Redflame Sky-Transforming Leopard started entertaining thoughts of retreat. Persisting any longer might result in being slain by the two Demon Kings, an outcome it refused to face. Reluctantly, it manipulated the demon beasts to gradually withdraw while commanding ordinary beasts to obstruct the Demon Kings.
Under the Sea of Demon Beasts’ relentless assault, the Redflame Sky-Transforming Leopard and the Exotic Monster Beasts finally managed to escape the Demon Kings’ attacks. They withdrew to a distance of several hundred yards, shielded by a throng of ordinary demon beasts, leaving the two Demon Kings furious beyond measure. They hadn’t anticipated letting their enemies escape!
"You two decrepit fools! Prepare for your demise! When we return, your lives will be mine—I’ll see how long you can survive then!" the Redflame Sky-Transforming Leopard snarled before vanishing with the Exotic Monster Beasts. With their departure, the Sea of Demon Beasts also retreated.
Finally, they were gone!
Xia Lalan, the children, and Xia Yunfeng all let out a sigh of relief. The demon beasts had retreated, and the Xia Family was saved. Reflecting on the earlier battle filled their hearts with lingering fear. If not for Lin Feng’s timely arrival, along with the two Demon Kings, the Xia Family might not even exist anymore...
Watching the Redflame Sky-Transforming Leopard strut away arrogantly with its monstrous followers, the two Demon Kings were livid. They had once ruled over the Lost Forest absolutely; not once had any demon beast dared rebel against them—it had been inconceivable! But now Old Five had brazenly challenged their authority in front of so many witnesses, leaving them humiliated beyond endurance!
With this disgrace in mind, their Demon Energy surged around them as they prepared to charge after the fleeing beasts. Yet, just as they moved, Lin Feng’s voice stopped them.
"Don’t chase them. Come back," he commanded.
The voice echoed in their minds, leaving them no choice despite their resentment. They returned to Lin Feng’s side obediently, shrinking their forms before standing beside him, awaiting his next instructions.
"Have you seen those Exotic Monster Beasts before?" Lin Feng asked the two Demon Kings, staring intently at them.
"Never. But I’m certain they don’t belong to the Hidden World. Both Old Black and I are familiar with all the demon beasts native to this realm, and these ones are definitely outsiders. As for where they came from, we have no idea," the Thunder Devouring Sky-Swallowing Flood Dragon replied immediately. Lin Feng’s question echoed its own doubts—it, too, was desperate to uncover their origins.
"Boss, those Exotic Monster Beasts possess strange abilities—they can influence other demon beasts. Do you know anything about their origins?" The Dark Flame Sky-Burning Tiger asked Lin Feng. It believed Lin Feng was the only one capable of unraveling the mystery behind those peculiar creatures.
"I don’t know where they came from either. But anything that needs to be uncovered will eventually be uncovered. For now, don’t worry about it. Follow me back to the Xia Family," Lin Feng said calmly, refraining from sharing too much. He, too, sensed that something was amiss with the entire situation, but without definitive evidence, he couldn’t act rashly.
"Understood, Boss!"
"Understood, Boss!"
The two Demon Kings accepted Lin Feng’s command without further question. They shrank their forms even smaller and leaped onto Lin Feng’s shoulders, accompanying him and Xia Lalan as they headed toward the Xia Family.
Lin Feng remained silent, leading Xia Lalan, Xia Yunfeng, and the children quickly to the Xia Family compound.
As soon as they entered, they were met with a scene of devastation: the Xia Family was in shambles from the demon beasts’ assault. Corpses of demon beasts littered the area; rubble and ruins were everywhere. Many Xia Family members were injured, desperately holding on. Even the Xia Family’s ancestor, Xia Yan, bore several wounds, while the Patriarch and the Elders were covered in injuries, their conditions far worse than anyone could bear, not to mention the wounds of the remaining clan members!
It was no exaggeration to say that without Lin Feng’s timely arrival, even with the Defense Formation protecting them, the Xia Family could not have held out much longer. As the Sea of Demon Beasts receded, those with powerful strength—such as the ancestor and the elders—were all that remained standing. Many others had collapsed to the ground, utterly exhausted.
The sight brought tears to Xia Lalan and Xia Yunfeng’s eyes, and they couldn’t hold back their sobs. If they hadn’t returned with Lin Feng in time, the Xia Family would have been completely annihilated, leaving them not even the chance to see their loved ones once more.
"Teacher Lin, I need to go check on my parents!"
"Teacher Lin, I want to check on my home!"
"Teacher Lin, I’m going to see my grandfather!"
The children, standing amidst the injured and wounded, remembered their families. They bid farewell to Lin Feng in a rush, running off as fast as they could, praying fervently that their loved ones were unharmed...
"Lin Feng, Lalan, Elder Yunfeng, you... you’ve returned!" A member of the Xia Family spotted the three of them and exclaimed loudly. Despite his injuries, he forced himself up from the ground and rushed to Lin Feng’s side.
"Mr. Lin, you must save the Xia Family. At this point, no one but you can help us. Please, I beg of you..." The man pleaded fervently, and before Lin Feng could respond, he knelt down and bowed, tears streaming down his face. With the beast tide looming, only someone like Lin Feng, an immortal, could save them. He had become their sole ray of hope.
"Stand up. You don’t need to ask—I’ll do it regardless," Lin Feng said gently, helping the man to his feet. With him here, he wouldn’t allow the Xia Family to be destroyed, and assurances like this were unnecessary.
But as soon as Lin Feng lifted the man, more figures emerged from the distance, rushing toward him. Without a word, they dropped to their knees. As the crowd grew larger and larger, expressions of gratitude and desperation flowed freely.
"Mr. Lin, please, save the Xia Family!"
"Mr. Lin, we beg you, save us!"
"Mr. Lin, please, you’re our only hope to rescue the Xia Family!"
...
The crowd’s eyes were red with emotion, tears pouring uncontrollably. Their hearts swelled with gratitude and relief after surviving the beast tide, an ordeal that had left them utterly hopeless before Lin Feng arrived.
"Everyone, please rise. There’s no need for this. I’ve returned, and with that, the Xia Family will not fall," Lin Feng said, his voice steady and calm as he looked upon the beleaguered group. Their injuries and desperate appearances stirred his emotions deeply, prompting him to comfort them immediately.
Despite Lin Feng’s assurance, the Xia Family members refused to rise, keeping their gazes locked on the immortal who had saved them. In their eyes, Lin Feng was their guardian spirit—expressing sincerity through their kneeling was the least they could do.
Preparing to speak again, Lin Feng was interrupted by a sudden movement. Several figures darted toward him from afar, quickly reaching his side—it was Xia Yan, along with the clan leader and elders.
"Taoist Friend Lin, let them keep kneeling. It’s the Xia Family’s token of gratitude. If you hadn’t returned, you wouldn’t even see me standing here now," Xia Yan said heatedly, gripping Lin Feng’s hands tightly with tears glistening in his eyes. The Xia Family owed Lin Feng their complete survival, and showing their sincerity was the least they could offer.
