Chapter 1029 - 1027: Are You Done Speaking?
Chapter 1029 - 1027: Are You Done Speaking?
In the Xia Family’s youth division, Xia Qingfeng was sulking alone in his room. His muscles tensed, and red blood vessels even showed through his eyes. Having been beaten into a pig-headed state by a mortal from the Secular World, how could he swallow this humiliation? Yet even with the rage boiling in him, he made no move, for he knew that he was no match for Lin Feng. A hasty confrontation would only bring him greater insult.
What frustrated him was that there was no one by his side who was as capable as him, no one who could deal with Lin Feng. As for venting his anger on family members—that was out of the question. If his father got wind of the fact he had been made a fool by a Secular World mortal, he would skin him alive.
So these past days, Xia Qingfeng felt so suffocated he could have banged his head against the wall. He holed up in his room without stepping foot outside. He was the Xia Family’s prodigy, yet he had been roughed up into a pig-head by a Secular World mortal—he just couldn’t reconcile with it...
Before he knew it, two more days had passed. The swelling on his face had subsided, but the marks were still discernible. He was still in his room, scheming against Lin Feng, unwilling to show his face until he found a way to deal with him. He swore he wouldn’t rest until he did!
"Thump thump! Qingfeng, it’s me!"
Suddenly, a knock at the door and a man’s deep, forceful voice could be heard, sounding very familiar to Xia Qingfeng.
Uncle! It was his uncle’s arrival!
Hearing the voice from outside, Xia Qingfeng instantly recognized it as that of his uncle, Xia Hongfeng. His heart swelled with joy—in his uncle he had found a way to get back at Lin Feng! His uncle, who adored him most, would surely not stand to see him in this state and would deal with Lin Feng. And given his uncle’s cultivation—a master just Half-Step to Minute Subtlety in the late Transcendent Realm—he should have no trouble with Lin Feng. Revenge seemed within reach.
"Uncle, you’ve come..."
Seeing his uncle standing outside, a man in his forties dressed in a black long robe with a fierce countenance, made Xia Qingfeng overjoyed. Yet, to garner his uncle’s sympathy, he showed a face of utter dejection. Opening the door, he spoke in a deflated tone and retreated back into the room.
"Qingfeng, what’s wrong with you? Who hit you!"
Xia Hongfeng instantly noticed the injuries on Xia Qingfeng’s face. Astonished to find his nephew beaten up upon his return, he asked with a dark face and an angry tone, unable to believe that someone had dared lay a hand on Xia Qingfeng. What had happened—who had such audacity...
"Uncle, you must stand up for me. Here’s what happened..." Upon hearing Xia Hongfeng’s words, Xia Qingfeng felt even more wronged and recounted the incident to him, careful not to exaggerate as his uncle hated deception and would not be lenient towards him if he found out he was lying.
"So, that’s what happened. What have you been doing?" After hearing the full story, Xia Hongfeng finally understood the situation and scolded Xia Qingfeng, blaming his nephew’s arrogance and entitlement for bringing trouble upon himself!
However, Xia Qingfeng’s disgrace was a stain on the Xia Family’s honor. Xia Hongfeng felt he had to intervene, not for his nephew’s sake, but for the family’s prestige.
"Uncle..." Listening to his uncle’s rebuke, Xia Qingfeng didn’t dare to argue and hung his head low, feigning utter misery. His resentment simmered—it was inconceivable how a mortal from the Secular World could be so formidable. It wasn’t his fault...
"I wouldn’t normally intervene in the squabbles of the younger generation, but Lin Feng has meddled in this affair and even left you in such a state, making it his fault. Uncle will take this breath for you! But in the future, you need to hold yourself back. There’s always someone stronger out there, the world isn’t as simple as you think!"
At that moment, Xia Hongfeng’s expression grew serious as he addressed Xia Qingfeng. Although his nephew was indeed talented, he didn’t want this incident with Lin Feng to create a mental block that would hinder his cultivation. Despite deciding to step in, he didn’t want his nephew to continue his arrogant ways, as that would lead to trouble sooner or later. This was why he added a stern reprimand.
"I understand, Uncle..." At this time, Xia Qingfeng bowed his head even lower. Although he wanted to retort to Xia Hongfeng’s advice, he held back. Dealing with Lin Feng was the priority; as for the rest, he could agree now and decide how to act later.
"How old is this Lin Feng?" Seeing his nephew acquiesce, Xia Hongfeng nodded, but then he remembered the mortal mentioned by the Family Head, who had forbidden the family from targeting Lin Feng. Additionally, this whole ordeal was initially a matter between the younger generations—a complicating factor. With this on his mind, Xia Hongfeng wanted to know Lin Feng’s age to gauge how to act without facing the Family Head’s scrutiny.
"Uncle, he appears to be under twenty. To this point, I’m still baffled by how such a formidable person can come from the Secular World!" Xia Qingfeng quickly responded, confused as to why his uncle was asking about Lin Feng’s age. With his uncle’s power, dealing with Lin Feng directly should settle the matter.
"What do you know! Alright, I’m leaving!" Xia Hongfeng scolded his nephew upon hearing the response and turned to leave. His nephew must have thought there were no experts beyond the Xia Family, but he knew better, having seen much of the world and its wonders, and he would never underestimate the people from the Secular World.
After returning to his residence, he sat in the chair and pondered over the whole incident, feeling increasingly that Lin Feng had gone too far. Though Xia Qingfeng was wrong to attack those children, even if Lin Feng wanted to teach Xia Qingfeng a lesson, there was no need for such humiliation. Deliberately aiming for the face, and to have beaten Xia Qingfeng to that extent, it wasn’t just a slap in the face to his nephew but to the entire Xia Family!
With that in mind, he decided to teach Lin Feng a lesson that night, to let Lin Feng restrain himself within the Xia Family’s territory, and not to think that, as a mortal, he could do as he pleased in the Xia Family, regardless of what the Family Head had said. However, he absolutely couldn’t reprimand Lin Feng openly; otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to get past the Family Head.
When the night grew deep and quiet, Xia Hongfeng dressed in black night clothes and even wore a black cloth mask, covering all the features below his eyes. He slipped through the darkness, heading straight for the children’s quarters...
He smoothly arrived at the children’s area and located Lin Feng’s dwelling. Through the window from a distance, he saw a young man doing something in the room. He had never actually seen Lin Feng before, but aside from Xia Lalan in this children’s section, there were only two teaching assistants, and he had seen all three. Thus, he was sure this unfamiliar young man must be Lin Feng.
He sized up Lin Feng from the outside. No matter how much he looked, he couldn’t see anything special about Lin Feng, who indeed appeared to be under twenty. He couldn’t imagine how such a mortal could have beaten his nephew, a beginner in the Transcendent Realm, to that state.
I really want to see what Lin Feng is capable of!
Seeing nothing that stood out, Xia Hongfeng’s figure flickered like a ghost in the night, silently rushing toward Lin Feng’s door. His plan was simple: to corner Lin Feng in his room, discipline him thoroughly, and then disappear.
But what he never expected was after he entered Lin Feng’s room, Lin Feng had disappeared without a trace. The whole room was eerily empty with no sign of Lin Feng.
Where did he go? How could he just vanish?
Seeing this, Xia Hongfeng was completely dumbfounded. He had just seen Lin Feng in the room moments ago. How could the man have disappeared so suddenly? What was going on? While he was perplexed, a voice suddenly came from outside the window.
"Come out." Lin Feng knocked on the window while speaking indifferently. Judging by the other’s attire, his intentions were clear and he didn’t want to take action inside the room.
How did he discover me?
Hearing Lin Feng’s words, Xia Hongfeng immediately felt bewildered. He was an expert in the late stages of the Transcendent Realm with a special prowess in agile movements. Even an expert in the Infinitesimal Realm would have difficulty detecting him, yet Lin Feng had managed to notice his presence. Moreover, he had no idea how Lin Feng had left. It was truly inconceivable, as if he’d seen a ghost!
Now that Lin Feng had already discovered him and even told him to come out, it might as well be out in the open. It would be best to resolve the fight quickly to avoid alerting others. Having made up his mind, he flashed away from Lin Feng’s room, appearing outside.
Lin Feng’s dwelling was a small courtyard with a Martial Arts Ground. Lin Feng stood in the center of the Martial Arts Ground, looking at the masked Xia Hongfeng without saying a word, just watching him.
"Kid, don’t be so arrogant. This is the Xia Family, not a place where you can do as you like. With your strength, you’re nothing in the Xia Family. I came here today to teach you a lesson, to show you how to behave!"
Watching Lin Feng standing there so calmly, as if he didn’t take him seriously at all, Xia Hongfeng instantly lost his temper and spoke viciously to Lin Feng. When had Xia Hongfeng ever been looked down upon like this?
"Are you done?" Lin Feng spoke lightly after Xia Hongfeng finished talking.
Hearing Lin Feng’s words, Xia Hongfeng was taken aback, subconsciously nodding. He really didn’t understand the meaning behind those words, nor did he expect Lin Feng to remain so composed in his presence. What in the world was Lin Feng going to do?
"Why all the nonsense!" Lin Feng shook his head indifferently at that moment. There was no point in talking so much when the purpose was just to look for trouble.
"You’re courting death, kid!" Hearing Lin Feng’s words, Xia Hongfeng was about to explode in rage, but considering the situation, he didn’t shout out loud. Instead, he transmitted his voice directly to Lin Feng. Now he was truly furious. Lin Feng’s dismissive tone made Xia Hongfeng feel deeply insulted.
After that, he didn’t say another word, but with a swift movement, he charged toward Lin Feng. His speed was astonishingly fast, his figure vanishing in an instant, like a phantom that suddenly appeared in front of Lin Feng, followed by a punch that brought a roaring wind aimed directly at Lin Feng’s chest!
