Chapter 495: Dragon that acted like a Snake
Chapter 495: Dragon that acted like a Snake
The clash continued on the ground, growing more chaotic by the minute. Casualties kept increasing on both sides, but for the unified army, each death was a true loss. But for the affiliated ghost army, the bone golems were cheap creations they could build again with minimal effort.
Young and aspiring talents who were filled with spirit, yearning for glory, and many joined to increase in the ranks of power, some through their own volition, or some through force.
The countless desires they had all ended with a premature death; the loved ones of the dead soldiers would be grieving for days nonstop, mothers and fathers would weep for their child. Wives would become widows; the ones who had promised their women that they would marry after coming back, their promises would remain unfulfilled.
The earth for miles and miles eventually became nothing more than blood and bones, dark and red mixed, torn flesh, intestines, and skeletal bone frames of the golems littered the ground.
After three whole days of nonstop battle, nearly all the bone golems were finally destroyed for good, as they were not coming back up, unable to assemble back together like fragments of a puppet being controlled by an invisible puppeteer.
The last 1,000+ Golems that remained were pushed back as they retreated from the front lines.
But on the human side, only 14,000 out of the 30,000 second-phase seekers remained. Even with the mighty rune tools in hand, the casualties remained too high for anyone’s liking. The survivors, most of whom were greatly injured. Too exhausted, out of potions, mentally drained to continue fighting.
Just when they thought they would have some breathing room after winning the first clash.
Unfortunately, that small sense of relief was utterly shattered before the thought could even settle down on the Unified armies’ soldiers.
As the real threats rushed in this direction with a mad, corrupt frenzy...
4000 death knights,
3000 Undead Liches, each commanding their own army of first-phase skeletal undead,
3000 Wailing Banshee’s
3000 Ghost Wraiths,
The remaining 1000 Bone Golems,
And last but not least, 5000 of the best-of-the-best human 2nd-phase seekers from six minor kingdoms collectively.
And against such a force, there was no way they could win, not in their current conditions.
Not to mention, with the Lich’s joining into the battle, the more beings that die upon the battlefield, the more would be brought back to life as an undead, even those that died in the clash against the Bone Golems, if their corpses were intact, those could be summoned as undead, by the Lich to fight on their whims.
The soldiers had no choice but to start dismembering the few intact corpses of their own life and death battle companions.
The soldiers stood back up through gritted teeth, with bleeding hands, and clenched the hilts of their weapons with the last of their remaining might, determined to fight on, no matter the cost.
And at that moment, a lone soldier from the Suncrest battalion walked forward, bloodied like the rest, but unlike the rest, there was no trace of fear in his posture; his wide back and firm stance spoke of innate confidence that could never be faked.
The only man, with the sole exception of the Valkyrie, the one who could completely flip the table in a war of numbers, by his existence alone.
The man bent down, closing the eyes of a dead soldier, whose last gaze was filled with fear. His severed head was the last intact fragment of the corpse. With a flick of his wrist, a Dark rune spear appeared in the hand of his man.
Then, in a slow but deliberate gesture, he reached towards the slightly bloody mask on his face, and he took it off. Crushing it in his hand, revealing his face, and his voice thundered throughout the standing area of the entire three battalions, neither too overbearing nor too soft, "Soldiers of the three battalions, obey my command...."
Suncrest soldiers were at first shocked to find him there, but then they regained their composure, and they immediately rallied behind him in rows and rows. The other two battalions did not, and at that moment, from the Samartan battalion came out a hidden figure, Enrick’s most hated adversary with the greatest chance of inheriting the Samartan throne, Princess Yasmin Samartan.
In the same manner, from the Blackvale battalion came out Thorian’s half-brother, the one with the greatest political power in his kingdom, Nox Blackvale.
Both relayed the orders to their battalion’s soldiers. To obey the man unquestioningly at the head of the Suncrest Battalion.
And when 14,000 powerful 2nd-phase seekers came under that one man’s direct command, his warlord aspect flared like never before. Apart from the few wars he had experienced in his trial world, this would be the biggest one he would be leading.
The moment that mantle of the leader was settled....
The entire battlefield trembled in fear of the destruction that was about to unveil...
A barrage of notifications hit the man one after another...
[Your title, Calamity Warlord, is in effect]
[Your aspectual title is being overstimulated]
[You have temporarily gained 300% increase in all stats]
[You have temporarily gained 300% increase in efficiency on all abilities]
[You have temporarily gained 300% increase in attack resistance]
[You have temporarily gained immunity to all status abnormality effects]
[All soldiers under your direct command have temporarily gained 100% increase in all stats]
[All soldiers under your direct command have temporarily gained 100% increase in efficiency on all abilities]
[All soldiers under your direct command have temporarily gained 100% increase in attack resistance]
And not just his power alone, but the entire army’s power, exploded in such a fashion that the pressure now radiating from the 14000 unified army completely and utterly dwarfed the incoming Affiliated army, and they were forced to halt their march in their tracks in shock at this abrupt change.
The same reaction was seen on the faces of Enrick, Jaden, and Thorian, complete disbelief written all over their visages at seeing that guy now leading the army, and at the fact that he had been within the Suncrest Battalion from the start, hiding his presence.
Not to mention their two siblings and rival to the throne, whom Enrick and Thorian hated the most, were also hiding in their own kingdoms’ battalions all this time. They thought that Lucien didn’t care about making the 2nd level of the war a sure win, but they couldn’t have been more wrong.
The bastard had actually colluded with Yasmin and Nox against them.
Enrick’s face twisted into a hideous grimace as he looked at the Golden Prince, who was grinning like a madman. If this turned into a resounding victory, Enrick and Thorian’s positions would be immediately snatched away and given to their siblings who fought on the battlefield.
But Lucien’s position would remain unchanged, as he was the very man who had formed this plan, without letting them in on a single detail. No, his reputation and influence would only skyrocket.
Lucien Suncrest had successfully reversed his situation, showing his vicious, cunning intellect and control over the political field. He was a dragon that knew how to act like a snake.
Lucien sneered, "And this... is how you truly scheme, boys. Not merely a pesky clash of opinions with no return. But a single strike that achieves it all. Three fools knocked out by one simple stone, and that stone here is... The One and Only HEINZ GIL...."
The moment his words were finished, the Calamity Warlord on the tip of the unified army struck with his rune spear, a single thrust of overwhelming might, and....
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!
