Chapter 481: A Strange call….
Chapter 481: A Strange call….
Daniel Nomrad walked out from his Alchemy chamber, which he personally built inside the Nomrad mansion, a room that had been collecting dust for so many years, having the Dusker Duchy’s restrictions on the Obsidian Trade. Did not allow him to purchase necessary alchemical products.
So he wasn’t able to research his progress as an alchemist or produce large quantities of alchemical goods. As the Dusker Duchess had bad relations with the Vanelis family. This region consistently experienced a shortage of Alchemical medicines.
This could have made the Obsidian Trade earn immense amounts of profits, which the Duchess naturally would not allow. But ever since his son started making his moves, with the help of the Demon Osiris sent by his father, Damien. According to what Axel told him.
Now, the Obsidian Trade has no such commercial sanctions on it by the regional governing authority. Daniel sneered, "More like that bitch can’t do so anymore, and wouldn’t be able to do so...."
Of course, with her vicious nature, she wouldn’t sit still; that much was certain. But whatever it may be, he wasn’t afraid anymore; he could only wait for the day he would be able to torture that bitch with his own hands and flesh out the brutal truth of what she had done to Myra.
Daniel sighed and shook his head. This wasn’t the time for those kinds of thoughts. Myra wouldn’t want him to stay caged in the past, and a spiral of endless negative thoughts. Not when his son had become the most valued artisan of likely the entirety of humanity.
Just like Damien, Axel’s expertise in runecraft was unmatched. Every single big and small power was literally begging him for a direct deal of purchase of his rune tools, the very thought put a wide smile on his lips. Entering his office, he gave a nod towards Vargas, sitting down at his desk, looking at the enormous pile of papers.
The butler asked, "You seem oddly in a good mood? My lord?"
Daniel chuckled, "Should I not be? You talk as if you’re not in a good mood yourself?"
Vargas laughed, "I suppose that’s quite right, it would be strange if we are not in a good mood. The Obsidian Trade’s every business venture is on the path to success, and all the debt has been paid off. In hopes of currying favor with the young master for his rune tools, every small and big power is now throwing big deals towards us."
The butler further added, "Your Alchemical products have also been selling like hot cakes, within the Dusker region..."
Daniel interjected, "But the biggest gain here is that more and more individual Seekers are willing to join the Obsidian Trade, and with my Alchemy goods, those who have already been loyal to us are becoming stronger progressively."
Vargas then added with a dark gleam in his eyes, "And those seekers are armed with the powerful Young masters’ rune weapons. Not to mention the amount of wealth we have gained in the last few months, ever since the young masters’ return, it is astronomical to say the least."
Daniel sighed, "That’s right, Axel is giving 50% of his income to the family. Even though I know exactly how expensive the runecrafting process can be."
Daniel leaned back on his chair, "It truly is strange, isn’t it, Vargas? For so long, with the deteriorating relationship between the great kingdoms, we thought a war would occur between these three forces. Likely Suncrest against Blackvale and Samartan...."
"But who knew due to the great kingdom’s arrogance and negligence towards the minor kingdoms, they would plot something like this. Thankfully, thanks to Axel’s negotiations with Prince Lucien, our family has been spared the mandatory requirement to join the war. Otherwise, we would have had to suffer a great loss of everything we just gained..."
Vargas said after some hesitation, "But I am worried, the Duchess won’t sit still. Then there’s also Mason Vex. I would say, even the first concubine of the King might try to harm the young master since he is allied with Prince Lucien. The first concubine might not be able to do anything to the prince at this time. But she can target the princes’ allies."
Daniel frowned, "You’re not wrong, I did not even think of that possibility. The disturbing thing is they are all lunatics, who have nothing to lose and would not stop at anything to achieve their goals one way or another."
But then his expression eased, as he thought internally, ’It seems I would have to meet with this Osiris....’
After signing most of the documents, he called for Axel. In a few minutes, his son came out, looking dead tired, like an office worker who had worked overtime for a week straight.
Daniel looked worried, "You ok, son? Aren’t you pushing yourself a bit too much?"
Axel shook his head, "It’s fine, Dad, I have other things to do. So, I have to finish this month’s quota of rune tools for each of the contracted forces as fast as possible."
"Anyway, why did you call?"
Daniel exhaled deeply. At this moment, there was no one else in his office; even Vargas had been sent out for some other work. His expression turned serious. "Son, I need to have a talk with Osiris...."
Axel’s tired eyes suddenly became sharp; he looked at his father, trying to discern his intentions, but was unable to. "Can I ask why?"
Daniel shot a glare towards him, "You’re dealing with a freakin demon? Are you seriously asking me why?"
Axel remained silent for a while, feeling conflicted; it wasn’t that he couldn’t grant his father’s request, and, in the persona of Osiris, he did have a plan to meet with his old man, but not right now. But much later, when things had developed further into the war.
Axel sighed, "That’s not something within my control. I will talk to him about it. When he comes and goes, even I don’t know."
Daniel stated, "I don’t care, make it happen."
Axel could only nod reluctantly, "Okay, I will try."
Daniel asked again, "Did you get to find out anything about your grandfather through this demon?"
"Unfortunately, no. Like I said last time, he would not reveal anything about it, apart from the things he said...." explained Axel.

In the far north of Suncrest, in a rural village previously under the administration of the Vex family, now in ruins, hundreds of people who were in it were supposed to work day and night, lying flat on the ground, and even the guards who were supposed to keep the slaves working nonstop remained in the same position.
Lying motionless, in the mud, they were not dead, but their eyes were strangely hazy, barely breathing. Even when dust and insects entered their mouths, ants crawled over their bodies, wondering whether they were alive or dead; they did not move or react in the slightest.
Snakes and other poisonous creatures bit into their flesh, devouring them, even though they were alive. As if caught in a limbo between life and death. But there was one being in that ominous village who was not in a half-dead vegetative state.
He walked around leisurely, making sure no one else was conscious and functioning. He wore a small smile. His dark, long hair swayed in the wind slightly. His eyes were somewhat red. His ears were pointy, like an elf.
But he was not an elf; he was a corrupted elf who became a Seeker not long ago, after infecting almost five villages one after another with his Dread Vessel skill—more than 6000+ mundane humans whose spirits were deconstructed by the Dread he planted within them.
But what made it especially easy was that their spirits were already weak, almost close to shattering either way. And those completely infected were now like cars without their drivers—a body and soul without active consciousness to control them.
Every bit of the spirit he siphoned only made him stronger....
Suddenly, he felt a pull within his corrupted elven bloodline, a call in his heart. In a certain direction, Wangnan turned his head, looking in the direction of the borders. He did not know a war was about to erupt between two races in a complicated conflict over a rare resource.
But that didn’t matter to him as he whispered, "Osiris??"
That was the thing he could think of when this pull of bloodline was felt. After becoming a Seeker, his hazy memories of that day were somewhat cleared. Osiris was indeed real, a demonic entity that transformed his Half-Elven bloodline into that of a corrupted elf, the one who gave him a second chance at life.
His head turned once more, something else caught his senses; a few unknown Seekers were rushing in this direction, and one was a 2nd phase. For a moment, he had the urge to stay and fight, but then he thought about it rationally.
As someone who has barely awakened, with no fighting ability yet, he wouldn’t be able to stand against someone of a higher phase.
So, with a grimace, he disappeared from that spot.
