Chapter 186: The Crimson Night [14]

The very second Cassian tried to gather his shattered form and stand up on his trembling legs, the veins beneath his skin burst one after another from the intense pressure.

Deep within his mind, the system’s cold and ruthless options appeared.

A bitter smile crept across Cassian’s bloody lips. Either way, the risk of dying in the middle of this battlefield was massive. Rather than getting half healed and dying under Veviron’s lightning, he chose to die on his own terms.

While his body screamed from the searing pain penetrating down to his cells, the dark wings on his back violently snapped open. Cassian launched himself into the sky toward Veviron like a comet shooting out of a pool of blood.

The city was literally breathing its last breath, but Cassian did not change his target. His eyes were locked solely on the colossal lightning dragon.

He parried Cryomara’s freezing attacks for a brief second and aimed the colossal, absolutely devastating stream of lightning he had gathered in his jaws straight at Cassian.

The surge of lightning ripped through the sky and slammed right into Cassian’s body.

The external lightning was tearing his body apart. With black flames erupting from his eyes, his mouth, and his shattered chest, he slipped through the lightning like a ghost defying death and finally reached Veviron.

Cassian did not dodge. He did not raise his sword. He did nothing at all.

"To the one who kills me, may my curse be upon you forever. As my life fades, may your existence fade as well! Dragon... as long as your heart beats, let your power turn to ash!"

Cassian’s body turned into thousands of black ashes in midair. Neither blood nor a corpse remained; he mingled with the wind and vanished completely. By sacrificing his own life, soul, and body, he had woven the ultimate curse.

The majestic, invincible lightning aura surrounding the dragon shattered like glass and instantly snuffed out. Veviron let out an agonized roar.

The magnificent mystical beast helplessly began to plummet toward the earth, writhing in pain and struggling to keep his consciousness intact, feeling his power abandon his body with every beat of his heart.

Time seemed to have stopped for her. She scanned the surroundings and sniffed the air. She searched for Cassian’s chaotic and rebellious mana that always suppressed the area. But there was nothing. A pitch black void. Cassian was truly gone. Shattered, turned to ash, erased from existence.

But within seconds, this pain gave way to an unbridled, absolute hatred and fury. She looked at the bloodied Veviron, who was barely managing to keep his balance in the air. Cassian had created this opportunity for her by giving his own life. She could not let this sacrifice go to waste.

She descended upon Veviron from the sky like an avalanche. Veviron tried to escape with his weakened wings, but Cryomara ruthlessly dug her massive claws into Veviron’s bleeding, scaleless back. As the two dragons plummeted toward the earth, Cryomara spewed her freezing breath straight into Veviron’s open wounds. Veviron’s blood was freezing in his veins, cracking him from the inside.

Cryomara had pinned Veviron to the ground, his neck torn apart, his strength depleted, and practically dying because of the curse.

The sky split open.

When the light slowly faded, an unbelievable being stood in the middle of the earth, right on top of the ruins.

Cryomara’s massive eyes narrowed. Her instincts were screaming in alarm.

The 24 winged being slowly lifted his head. In that moment, the divine aura radiating from the Archangel’s body clashed in the air with Cryomara’s fury filled freezing aura.
