Chapter 453 - 432: The Woman Divorced by Her Husband’s Family (1)
It’s almost New Year, and Chai Tianlang should be sent back to his parents.
Li Xingmao walked over holding his hand and helped him to the table, "Tianlang, what do you want to eat?"
"Want to sleep, Uncle." Chai Tianlang mumbled, half opening his sleepy eyes, yawning so widely that he could fit a dumpling in his mouth.
This sight amused everyone in the room.
It was still dark outside, and for the almost four-year-old Chai Tianlang, getting up before dawn was not a cheerful task.
Li Xingmao helped him sit straight, but as soon as he let go, he slumped over again.
Li Yuzhu laughed and said, "Big Brother, let him sleep in the carriage. Brother Mu’s carriage has thick blankets and hot water bottles; it’s not cold at all. I’ll pack some food for him to eat on the road after I finish eating. He just wants to sleep now, so how would he eat anything?"
"Alright." Li Xingmao shook his head with a smile, then carried him out of the kitchen.
Mu Yuanxiu arrived at the Li Family with a lantern in hand.
Li Xingmao called out, "Brother Mu, you’ve come at the perfect time. There’s breakfast in the kitchen, go quickly and eat."
Mu Yuanxiu readily agreed with a laugh, "I’ll head to the kitchen right away."
Nanny Jiang saw Mu Yuanxiu coming and quickly served a large bowl of red bean and date porridge and placed a beef cake in front of him, smiling warmly, "Eat up, have a good meal. You have to travel dozens of miles."
Li Xing’an muttered, "When I came to the kitchen, Nanny Jiang didn’t serve me any food."
Second Brother Li Xingsheng glared at him, "You sat here watching when Nanny Jiang was making breakfast. Do you really need her to serve you food? Mu Yuanxiu just arrived and didn’t know where the food was, so Nanny Jiang gave it to him. You’ve been sneaking pieces of beef cake from the kitchen, and now you’re complaining to Mu Yuanxiu?"
"You’re talking nonsense, I didn’t sneak any food!" Li Xing’an glared back.
"No one saw it, so you’ll just keep lying, huh!" Li Xingsheng glared again.
The two brothers stared at each other, neither willing to back down.
The Great Princess and the Second Princess finished eating first, both calling for Li Xingsheng, "Second Brother, are you coming or not? If not, we’re leaving first! We can drive the carriage ourselves."
"I’m coming, I’m coming!" Li Xingsheng suddenly panicked, gulping down the last bit of porridge and grabbing a piece of beef cake before hurrying after them.
Lately, the Great Princess has taken an increasing interest in dressing up. She is already pretty and talkative, attracting attention wherever she goes, causing more hassle than the Second Princess and Li Yuzhu. Second Young Master Li Xingsheng is often overwhelmed by this sister and has to keep an eye on her whenever they go out.
Li Xingsheng even wishes every day that some man would marry this little troublemaker.
Moreover, their business has been booming at year-end, and Li Xingsheng has helped them earn quite a bit of pocket money.
Liu Yanbai finished eating quickly too, said he was going to move the luggage, greeted Li Xing’an and Li Yuzhu, and rushed off to get busy.
After eating, Li Yuzhu found a basket to pack Chai Tianlang’s breakfast.
Nanny Jiang took a small ceramic pot, heated it with boiling water, filled it halfway with hot porridge, and wrapped it with a clean thick cloth. She then packed a pot of hot tea, along with two small bowls, and placed everything in the basket.
"Though the weather is cold, these are still hot. Leaving them in the basket, they’ll be cold within a time. It’s best to tuck the basket inside the blankets on the carriage to keep the heat for an hour. By then, it will be daylight, and Tianlang should be awake; it’s the perfect time to eat." Nanny Jiang advised Li Yuzhu while stuffing the basket gaps with dry cloth and cotton to keep it warm.
Li Yuzhu smiled, carrying the basket, "Got it, Nanny Jiang."
She placed the basket in Mu Yuanxiu’s mule carriage, next to Chai Tianlang’s sleeping spot.
The carriage was very warm, and the blanket was thick enough that Chai Tianlang slept with a rosy complexion.
Li Xingmao sat in the carriage with Chai Tianlang and said to her, "You came just in time, I’m going to move your books."
"Go ahead, Big Brother, I’ll watch him." Li Yuzhu took the seat where Li Xingmao was sitting.
The books were heavy, and hadn’t been loaded onto the carriage. Once they were loaded, it would be hard to turn at the courtyard gate, so they were left stacked in the storeroom.
Mu Yuanxiu finished breakfast and drove the mule carriage to the courtyard gate.
Uncle Gui also drove Chai Eying’s mule carriage, parking behind.
Li Xing’an packed his luggage and Li Yuzhu’s into Mu Yuanxiu’s mule carriage. As for Chai Tianlang, he had no luggage.
