Chapter 269: There’s News About the Job

"How could this happen?" Lin Banxia was jolted awake by the sound of the cup shattering. Her beautiful eyes widened with disbelief as she tapped on the trending news and read the contents clearly.Could this be baseless rumors?

"Banxia... what happened? Are you okay?" Aunt Lan heard the sound of the shattering cup from outside and hurried in worriedly.

Lin Banxia quickly turned off her phone screen and stood up, flustered and at a loss: "Aunt Lan, I’m sorry, my hand shook, and I lost my grip on the cup. I’ll clean it up right away."

"Banxia, don’t bother with that. Just eat your breakfast. I’ll clean it up for you."

"No... no need, Aunt Lan. I can do it myself..." Lin Banxia hastily crouched down to pick up the pieces but accidentally ended up slicing her thumb, creating a gash that immediately bled profusely, the crimson mixing starkly with the white soybean milk.

"Oh no, you silly child! I told you not to touch it!" Aunt Lan saw her hand bleeding and couldn’t bear it, quickly urging her, "Go treat your wound first, don’t move anymore."

"Aunt Lan, I’m so useless, so clumsy!" Lin Banxia covered her injured finger and dejectedly mocked herself.

"What nonsense are you saying? You’re not clumsy—you just aren’t used to doing this kind of thing." Aunt Lan chuckled at her words and comforted her.

Aunt Lan didn’t know the deeper meaning behind her self-deprecation.

Lin Banxia didn’t want to cause more trouble for Aunt Lan, so she retreated to her room.

She disinfected the wound, applied a bandage, and collapsed onto the bed as if her soul had left her body.

"Huo Yanting, you’re getting engaged? Why didn’t you tell me last night?" Lin Banxia’s mind grew restless and chaotic.

Last night, Huo Yanting came to see her, seemingly full of affection. Just last night, she even dreamt of marrying him. But when she woke up this morning, she saw the news about him getting engaged to the vice-presidential daughter. What a dog-blood drama, truly absurd and ironic.

"Banxia, did you take care of your wound yet? You left your phone downstairs—someone’s calling you."

Outside the door, Aunt Lan asked with concern.

Lin Banxia, upon hearing the mention of a call, immediately sat up and opened the door. Her phone was still ringing. She picked it up to check, and saw it was an unfamiliar number.

She hurriedly answered, and a woman’s voice asked, "Miss Lin Banxia? Hello, this is the HR Department at Luo Group. We’ve reviewed the résumé you submitted, and we’d like to invite you for an interview. Would you be available at 10 AM today?"

"Luo Group?" Lin Banxia squinted her beautiful eyes for a moment, then remembered. When she submitted her résumé, she had seen that they were recruiting a receptionist at the front desk and impulsively applied.

She hadn’t dared to harbor any hopes then, because even the janitors at Luo Group were highly scrutinized.

"Yes, if you’re interested in the interview, please report to the HR Department at 10 AM."

"Oh... okay... alright, I’ll head over right now!"

After hanging up the phone, Aunt Lan smiled warmly on the side, "Did you hear back about a job? Is there progress?"

"Yes, Aunt Lan. I have to head out later. They’ve asked me to come in for an interview at 10 AM." Lin Banxia forced a smile.

Aunt Lan eagerly expressed her joy for her, "That’s wonderful, Banxia! You’ve got to do your best. I believe you can do it!"

Lin Banxia smiled along, "I hope so!"

She changed into a proper black professional outfit, fixed herself up, and drove toward the interview location.

But her heart... felt unbearably heavy.
