Chapter 259: Revealing the Truth
Chapter 259: Revealing the Truth
"Mom, you’re the best to me!" Huo Anya finally stopped crying, thinking that her chances of staying were very high.At this moment, Old Sir Huo and Mrs. Huo were preparing to rest.
Mrs. Huo personally gave Old Sir Huo his medication and sighed, "Do you think the decision you made today was too hasty? Anya may be a bit willful, but she’s your granddaughter. Can’t you be a little more lenient with her?"
Old Sir Huo knew Mrs. Huo would definitely bring this matter up, so he responded solemnly, "This situation, it’s not that I deliberately want to harshly punish Anya. I have my reasons for doing this. You’re well aware I used an agreement to make Lin Banxia divorce Yan Ting. And this time, Anya ran off and destroyed her pear garden. If I don’t handle this appropriately and Lin Banxia finds an excuse to break the agreement, she might still cling to Yan Ting. From childhood to adulthood, there’s never been any woman around Yan Ting. Lin Banxia married him so quietly — do you really think it was just blind luck on her part?"
Mrs. Huo carefully mulled over Old Sir Huo’s words and stiffened.
"Are you saying... Yan Ting really fell in love with that little wretch?" Mrs. Huo’s face changed drastically after confirming this.
Old Sir Huo let out a cold snort. "Exactly. Do you think Yan Ting is someone who easily lets a woman manipulate him?"
"How could this happen? Yan Ting has such terrible taste! He doesn’t chase a refined and polite girl like Tingting who comes from a prestigious family, but instead goes for a wild little nobody. Honestly, this is enough to make me, an old woman, die of anger." Mrs. Huo was filled with unvented frustration. Just the thought of her grandson falling for Lin Banxia made her heart ache faintly.
"My strict handling of Anya this time is to ensure Lin Banxia doesn’t have any excuse to break the agreement. So, don’t try to persuade me otherwise. Anya must be sent abroad immediately as an explanation to Lin Banxia. Then, we need to hurry and finalize the engagement between Yan Ting and the Chu Family girl. Once they’re engaged, I believe Lin Banxia will give up and stop hoping for anything more."
Mrs. Huo began to accept Old Sir Huo’s decision.
"Alright, let’s go with that. I’ve noticed Chu Tingting has long been infatuated with Yan Ting. As long as we convince Yan Ting, this marriage will certainly happen." Mrs. Huo spoke confidently.
"Yan Ting is quite popular with women. He’s handsome, responsible, and mature — definitely the kind of man women find attractive," Old Sir Huo chuckled.
"Of course! Yan Ting was raised by us, and I am fully aware of how charming he is. No wonder Lin Banxia is so obsessively infatuated with him — it’s because our grandson is truly exceptional." Mrs. Huo said proudly.
"Set up a time to meet up with the Chu Family over a meal and bring up this matter. I’ll work on Yan Ting and ensure he gives up on Lin Banxia and marries the Chu Family girl," Old Sir Huo said with a serious expression.
Mrs. Huo nodded. "I understand. Everything is for the children’s future. I know what’s most important."
Night deepened; it was already past eleven o’clock!
The restoration work on the pear garden was nearing completion. Though everything couldn’t entirely be restored to how it was before, seeing it almost back to its former state brought Lin Banxia some measure of relief.
Chilly winds swept through the winding corridors. Lin Banxia draped herself in a long knitted cardigan, sitting alone on the stone bench at the corridor’s end.
This was the fourth day!
Huo Yan Ting hadn’t called her once, let alone made any other contact.
Was it because she hadn’t revoked the agreement? Was he angry with her?
Or perhaps he had already given up and wanted to end things completely between them?
