Chapter 42: More On the Vampyre Bloodline
Chapter 42: More On the Vampyre Bloodline
Jensen looked at Talia, the girl was still on her knees, waiting for his judgment.
"I am very impressed by your plan," Jensen began.
Talia’s face lifted slightly as hope flickered in her eyes.
"But there are a few issues with it and a few adjustments I will be making."
The hope faded, Talia lowered her gaze and listened.
"First, how sure are you that other powerhouses would not come there?"
Jensen did not wait for an answer instead he kept talking.
"You can never be absolutely sure. What would you do if the mercenaries turned on you for several reasons?"
Talia wanted to interrupt, he could see it in the way her mouth opened slightly but she caught herself. She closed her mouth and kept quiet.
Jensen nodded. "But I have a simple solution to your plan." He paused causing the room to remain silent.
"Power," Jensen said. "Power solves most problems. Enough power, and no one dares go against you."
He looked at the three of them. Jim, Talia and Roden who were still on their knees, still hoping and waiting.
"And since you have proven yourself, and I gave my word..."
Three drops of noble vampyre blood essence appeared in front of Jensen.
They floated in the air. They were small but the power inside them was enormous. The air around them grew warm and everyone felt it.
"I grant you power," Jensen said.
The blood essence shot forward.
Jim was hit first, the drop struck his forehead and sank into his skin like water into sand, his eyes went wide then they rolled back almost instantly.
His body went limp and he crumbled to the floor with a dull thud.
Talia was next, the drop hit her between the eyes, and she did not even have time to blink or check on her father before she blackout too.
Roden saw the drops coming and tried to brace himself... he tightened his jaws as he waited.
The blood penetrated his forehead but unlike his family he did not fall immediately.
His body shook and his muscles locked with sweat poured down his face. His teeth ground together so hard that a cracking sound came from his jaw. He stayed on his knees for several seconds.
Jensen watched with interest. ’Looks like Jim wasn’t lying about his children... This one has willpower.’
Roden lasted almost a minute with his hands gripping his thighs and his eyes staring at nothing, fighting against whatever was happening inside his body.
Finally on the fifty-six second mark his body gave up and he collapsed forward.
Alicia’s eyes widened in fear as she watched her father, sister and brother fall. She jumped up and ran towards her sister... she dropped on her knees, and her small hands touched Talia’s face.
Alicia let out a shaky breath after she finally confirmed that they were still alive, but the fear was still in her eyes.
However, she was calmer now although she still did not know what had happened to them but at least, they were not dead.
Maria looked at the little girl then she turned to Jensen and her mouth opened to speak but Lily beat her to it.
"My Lord," Lily said, "how was your trip?"
Jensen turned to her; his expression was calm as he answered.
"Quite fruitful I have to say, " he said. "I wiped out a bandit camp, stumbled on a mana stone mine and created a Level 3 Thrall."
Lily’s face went still.
She had thought Jensen’s previous question to Talia was something he made up to test the girl’s mind but that did not seem to be the case anymore.
The silence stretched for a moment before Lily spoke again.
"My Lord, what is a Thrall?"
Jensen frowned. He looked at Lily, then at Maria and back at Lily then he realized something.
Neither Maria nor Lily had awakened the Thrall creation ability.
Lily had Blood Cultivation, Blood Absorption, Blood Regeneration, Lesser Vampyre Creation, Charm, Blood Sense, and Vampyre Transformation.
Maria had Blood Cultivation, Blood Absorption, Blood Regeneration, Blood Storage, Lesser Vampyre Creation, Charm, and Vampyre Transformation.
"Thrall creation is one of the bloodline abilities I have awakened," Jensen said. "It allows me to create a special type of undead."
He paused and spoke to Xal’Zyraeth through the mind link.
’Is there a particular pattern to the abilities they awaken?’ Jensen asked.
’Yes,’ Xal’Zyraeth answered. ’The bloodline typically awakens abilities that are most compatible with them.’
’So noble vampyres can awaken any vampyre ability that is compatible with them?’
’Not exactly,’ Xal’Zyraeth explained calmly. ’They can awaken any seven of your own abilities that they are most compatible with.’
Jensen thought for a moment. ’What about common vampyres? They can awaken any four or five?’
’Five,’ Xal’Zyraeth said. ’The gap between Royal Vampyre and Noble Vampyre is wider than the gap between Noble Vampyre and Common Vampyre.’
’So, the gap between Royal Vampyre and Progenitor should be even wider,’ Jensen said. ’Say five?’
’More like ten,’ Xal’Zyraeth answered causing Jensen to suck in a sharp breath.
’I am definitely getting the Progenitor bloodline for myself,’ Jensen promised himself.
’You would better,’ Xal’Zyraeth snickered. ’Or you will never stand a chance against whoever is out there, no matter what plan you make.’
Jensen pushed forward. ’I can accurately assume that you have siblings... other Royal Vampyres.’
’Yes, you assumed right.’
’How many?’
’There are seven others. We were four men and four women.’
’Can I know their names and abilities?’
Xal’Zyraeth snickered, ’Do you really want to die? There are better ways of committing suicide.’
Jensen did not give up. ’Is there any way I can find out more about them? I do not want to be caught off guard.’
’When you meet any of their inheritors, I might be able to tell you, their names. After you know more about them.’
Jensen asked one more question. ’Where do you stand on a power scale compared to your siblings?’
Xal’Zyraeth was quiet for a moment then he answered. ’Physical strength... I am ranked second. Battle wise... I come out on top eight out of ten times. Mass destruction capability... somewhere in the middle.’
Jensen frowned. ’I thought you said very few people were strong enough to kill you and that most of them were Progenitors.’
’Just because they can defeat me does not mean they can kill me.’ Xal’Zyraeth’s voice was calm.
’My regeneration is something you truly cannot comprehend. The same goes for my siblings. Defeating them is one thing... killing them is another thing entirely even for my sibling whose ability is not geared toward battle, I do not have any confidence in actually killing her.’
Jensen’s eyes narrowed. ’Some of your siblings are not geared toward battle?’
’Yes,’ Xal’Zyraeth responded.
"My Lord?"
