Chapter 38: Return
Chapter 38: Return
Jensen walked out of the tent and stopped. Herald had been busy.
The bodies were already stacked in one pile, the dead men had arms and legs sticking out at wrong angles with faces frozen in their last moments.
The other pile held the important resources from around the camp, from weapons. bags of coins, small crates of supplies etc.
Herald had simply piled everything there unable to sort anything so Jensen would most likely have to do that himself.
Jensen walked to the resource pile and knelt down; he picked through it quickly.
He ignored most of the items there and focused on stuff like Graded weapons although they weren’t a lot of that in the pile.
Seeing most of the items were not high enough to bother he decided not to bother with it anymore.
’Looks like every important item were truly with Posey and his lieutenants.’ Jensen thought, he had honestly been hoping that some of the lesser bandits might have sneaked something.
He stuffed everything he found useful into his immortal spatial ring, even the other spatial rings as well.
The only rings left on his hands was one low grade spatial ring that he kept thing he might have immediate use for, like his telekinetic daggers, gold slips, his communication device and so on.
Then Jensen called Herald to his side before giving him a long list of orders to follow while he wasn’t here.
’Anyone that came close to this location is to be given one warning.’ Jensen began.
’Say ’This territory is held by the Morvath Family... leave’.’
’If they did not retreat immediately attack them and show no mercy.’
Next, Jensen ordered him to put on a full set of armour.
There was a pile of mismatched pieces in the pile which he chose his size from before wearing.
Jensen made sure the armour covered him completely with no skin showing. Herald was now a hulking figure in scavenged plates.
No one would recognize him as Posey, and no one would see his dead eyes.
’If anyone is to see your face without my directive... kill them.’ Jensen added an extra order.
Next order was to destroy all the smaller tents at the edge of the camp and leave only the bigger tents which included the lieutenants’ tents, storage tents and vehicle storage tent.
He wasn’t able to understand the order properly, so Jensen had to break it down further.
’Make sure to get every resource and put them in those tents.’ Jensen started, ’Then destroy those tents except these ones.’ He pointed at each individual tent that are not to be destroyed.
’Show me.’ Jensen asked.
Herald walked to the nearest tent that had not been pointed at, walked in and did a search but because he had already previously searched the tent there was nothing left.
Then he grabbed the centre pole and pulled till the pole snapped and the canvas collapsed.
Jensen nodded before calling Herald back and continued with his orders.
Next order, move all the resources into the storage tents and lieutenant tents, leaving only the main tent free.
He also tested if the order worked.
Herald began carrying the resources in the pile next to them to the tents specified.
Jensen watched him work and nodded in satisfaction.
Although the orders had to be broken down into smaller pieces since Herald could only follow simple commands, the loss of blood energy was worth it.
’I should create more Thralls like Herald when I have time and Blood energy to use,’ Jensen thought.
He was truly satisfied with the result an army of Heralds that did not get tired, followed every order and could stand in one spot for days if told to do so was more than welcomed.
The only limitation with this would be the fact that thralls created through the refinement methods were locked to the Body Path.
’But that can most definitely be circumvented... I just have to find a way.’ Jensen thought
He looked at the pile of bodies and considered using them to create more thralls, but he began to doubt if they would even work.
Too much time had passed since they died and even if the process worked, they would be low grade thralls at best.
Not to mention he had already used most of the available blood to create Herald. There was nothing left for another refinement.
Jensen decided that it was just not worth it, ’I will have to find better target next time and refine them.’
He called back Herald and began to give more orders till he was sure he had given enough orders for this place to function for a while, then he made his way to the vehicle tent.
The tent was large although shabbily built, inside were the bandits off road vehicle.
There were no hover bikes as one would expect something advanced.
But these bandits were practical, they used dirt bikes which was very good for the current location layout.
There were ten of them that looked good, and three more that looked like they had been cannibalized for parts.
Each bike used low-grade mana stones as fuel with a small chamber on the side of the engine held the stone.
Some of the bikes had chains attached to the back with trolleys on metal wheels which were used for transporting goods like hijacked cargos that are then dragged through the mountains behind the bikes.
Jensen grabbed one of the bikes that looked good, he dragged it out and swung his leg over the seat and settled into position.
He could already tell that his plans for Daisaku Uesugi would soon come to fruition and he had to be in town for it to work as he wished.
He inserted the mana stone needed, switched it on and twisted the throttle, shooting forward, kicking up dirt and small rocks behind him.
He left the camp behind and raced towards Oakland town.
