Chapter 183: Professor Li: Should Be a Man
At four o’clock in the afternoon, outside Professor Li’s house, Lin Mo and his two companions arrived, each carrying a bag of fruit. However, the three of them were in rather miserable condition.
Lin Mo was clutching his chest and grimacing in pain; there were two faint footprints on Wang Chu’s short-sleeved shirt; and as for the Sichuan Girl, her expression was one of complete despair.
In the end, Mrs. Zhao hadn’t let him off the hook. She dragged him to a nearby boxing gym, insisting that Lin Mo show her exactly how he intended to “handle” her.
The result, as expected, was a disaster. Even a burly man like Wang Chu had been no match for her, so Lin Mo naturally didn’t stand a chance. His level wasn’t even enough to serve as a warm-up for her — he’d been beaten up quite thoroughly.
Before leaving, Mrs. Zhao even mocked him, saying he wasn’t capable at all — with that little strength, how could he possibly “handle” her? How was he supposed to protect Rushuang in the future, and so on and so forth.
Fortunately, Mrs. Zhao had shown restraint and hadn’t used her full strength. Otherwise, it was uncertain whether he’d have returned home in one piece today.
As for the Sichuan Girl, she had been separately “disciplined” by Lin Mo and Wang Chu when they got back. After all, the whole incident had started because of her — it wouldn’t do for the two of them to get beaten up while she got away scot-free.
Wang Chu, on the other hand, with his thick skin and sturdy build, had taken two kicks and a punch from Mrs. Zhao without any issues. He was still jumping around energetically — just with a slightly dirty shirt.
It was no wonder that the fierce generals of ancient times were always those big-bellied types rather than the ones with eight-pack abs — those kinds of men could really take a beating.
“Teacher, we’re here.” Lin Mo greeted Professor Li, who opened the door for them.
“Hello, Professor Li!” ×2
The two behind him quickly greeted as well.
“Come, come in quickly.”
Professor Li warmly ushered the three into his home.
“Your teacher already sent me a message this morning, saying you’d be coming today. I also calculated that your medicine should be about finished. How have you been feeling lately? Any changes in your body?”
The four of them sat down in the living room. The table was already set with tea and fruit — clearly, Professor Li had prepared in advance, knowing they were coming.
“I’ve been feeling great. Ever since you helped regulate my body, I’ve had more and more energy. Even my concentration while reading has improved a lot,” Lin Mo said.
Although the medicine prescribed by Professor Li didn’t take effect as quickly as the ones he bought from the online shopping pages, he could truly feel its results. After half a month, he could clearly sense the changes in his body.
His urine was no longer yellow, his routine had become regular, his energy levels were higher, and overall his physical condition was much better than before.
“You’re fine — I can tell just from your complexion that you’re in good shape now. How about you two?” Professor Li asked, smiling as he looked at the Sichuan Girl and Wang Chu.
Lin Mo’s complexion had indeed improved — his originally fair skin now had a healthy reddish glow, a clear sign of ample vitality and blood.
“I—I’m okay, I guess.”
“Better. I think it’s working.”
The Sichuan Girl and Wang Chu both replied, though somewhat half-heartedly. In truth, neither could pinpoint any obvious change, but they were too embarrassed to admit the medicine hadn’t seemed effective, so they mumbled vague responses instead.
Professor Li, being an experienced traditional doctor who had seen more patients than they’d met people, easily saw through them. He smiled and said:
“Alright, then let me take your pulses.”
This time, the Sichuan Girl and Wang Chu were smarter — they went into Professor Li’s study one at a time, with the other waiting outside to keep watch.
But when it was Lin Mo’s turn, the two stood on either side of the door like a pair of Yin-Yang guardians, eager to eavesdrop on his results.
After all, since his girlfriend was involved, they couldn’t help but gossip.
“Not bad. Your body’s been well-nourished lately. You’ve taken the medicine for half a month, and your body has basically adjusted back to normal. You don’t need to keep taking the medicine for now,” Professor Li said, nodding with satisfaction after checking Lin Mo’s pulse.
His kidney energy was full, and his deficiencies in Qi and spleen had improved significantly. Of course, part of that was due to the medicine, but also thanks to Lin Mo’s good habits and healthy diet recently.
Besides, he was still young, so recovery came easily.
However, upon hearing this, the two “Yin-Yang guardians” immediately became displeased.
“What? Old Mo doesn’t need to take medicine anymore? Professor Li, please check again — are you sure his kidneys aren’t weak? He’s even got a girlfriend now,” the Sichuan Girl said.
After all, when they’d gone in earlier, Professor Li had practically exposed all their private matters. Fortunately, no one else had been around, or the embarrassment would’ve reached their grandmothers’ houses.
“He’s much more disciplined than you two, keeps a proper routine, and even exercises regularly. Naturally, his recovery is faster. Having a girlfriend doesn’t affect that.
But you two — you don’t follow my advice. You stay up late, eat irregularly, love greasy and spicy food — of course the results are much worse.
Especially you. I know your desires are strong, but that’s just an illusion. Still, you’ve improved since last time. At least now you only ‘reward yourself’ once a day — that’s a noticeable decrease. If you really can’t bear it, go take a shower. The weather’s still hot, so keep your hands to yourself!” Professor Li said sternly, pointing at the Sichuan Girl.
For a moment, she was so embarrassed that she couldn’t even lift her head. “I—I didn’t...”
“Whether you did or not, you know it yourself. We doctors can treat illnesses, but we’re not immortals. If you don’t cooperate, there’s nothing we can do,” Professor Li admonished.
This time, the Sichuan Girl didn’t argue — she just kept her head down obediently, while Lin Mo and Wang Chu both struggled to suppress their laughter.
Served her right — her loose tongue had backfired. Before a skilled old Chinese doctor, there were no secrets at all. He could tell what you’d eaten last night, let alone whether you’d been “rewarding yourself.”
“Professor Li, then we’ll get going. You and Old Mo can keep talking,” said the Sichuan Girl and Wang Chu at the door, excusing themselves — they still had to stop by the hospital before it closed.
Lin Mo was already recovered, but they weren’t.
“Alright, go ahead. Come by when you have time,” Professor Li said, not stopping them. He knew they had hospital business, whereas Lin Mo, being fully recovered, would naturally stay behind for his teacher’s check-up.
“Okay, goodbye Professor Li!” ×2
After saying their goodbyes, the two left. Professor Li and Lin Mo returned to the living room, where Lin Mo naturally brewed tea for him — the same tea leaves he’d brought last time.
“Teacher, please have some tea,” Lin Mo said, pouring for him.
Looking at his student — not only talented in medicine, but also polite, thoughtful, and capable of brewing good tea — Professor Li, for the first time, felt the joy of teaching a worthy disciple.
If all his previous students had been like this, he would’ve saved himself so much trouble!
“Mmm~ still, the tea you brew tastes the richest. By the way, what happened to your chest? Feels like something hit you there,” Professor Li suddenly asked after taking a sip.
Lin Mo: ???
“You can tell that too?”
“What kind of question is that? I’m a Chinese doctor. Once I take your pulse, I might not know everything, but I can tell about eighty to ninety percent. Feels like someone punched you in the chest — and not lightly either. Should be a man. But it’s not serious, so I didn’t mention it,” Professor Li said, looking quite pleased with himself.
Lin Mo gave a thumbs-up. “As expected of you, teacher. Amazing!”
“Hahaha, that’s nothing. Our ancestors’ knowledge is vast and profound — just keep studying it.”
Lin Mo: “It was a woman who hit me.”
Professor Li: “Impossible!”
