Chapter 137: Don’t Listen to Him
The name “Bashu Babe” wasn’t bad at all — it suited Wang Chu’s image perfectly. Of course, it also fit that side’s tastes. It was bound to go viral.
As for Xiao Rongyu and Shen Youchu, he wasn’t even close to being worthy. Better not ruin their reputations. No matter what, the “Four Beauties” still had to be actual beauties. At the very least, they had to qualify as pretty.
With Wang Chu’s looks, even in women’s clothing, at best he could only pass as Sister Yu.
Ignoring the devastated Wang Chu, Lin Mo turned to look at Sichuan Girl beside him.
After witnessing his unscientific billiards play, Sichuan Girl quickly shook her head.
“I’m the referee! Have you ever seen someone act as both referee and player? What do you take me for — a crooked whistle?”
Though she said it righteously, in truth she was scared. After all, even a broken tile had its day to shine, and the east wind could just as easily turn against you. Countless bloody lessons had proven that when a gambling dog’s luck peaked, he could even win with five bullets in the revolver.
So, after seeing Lin Mo’s insane luck, she wisely chose to stay out of his way. As for Wang Chu — well, better the friend dies than the poor Taoist himself.
If she lost and Lin Mo made her do a men’s clothing livestream, how could she ever face her ancestors in the afterlife?
Seeing her reaction, Lin Mo didn’t bother to argue. He simply led the two of them downstairs.
But instead of returning to Sichuan Girl’s apartment, he decided to go back to his dormitory. Before leaving, he even reminded Wang Chu to hurry it up.
Finally, with Wang Chu’s expression full of despair, he closed the elevator doors.
Walking out of the community gate, Lin Mo was in a great mood. Checking the time, he saw it was already past six in the evening. The sun was slanting westward, and the temperature had dropped a bit.
At this hour, the cafeteria surely had nothing decent left, so he decided to grab something outside instead.
He walked into a Lanzhou noodle shop and ordered a bowl of clear broth noodles. With a helpless sigh, Lin Mo thought, after days of drinking herbal medicine, even his tongue was about to forget what flavor was.
Although his wallet had fattened up, his diet had gone downhill. This kind of bland, watery food wasn’t any different from a weight-loss meal — like chewing wax.
Just as he sat down, ready to eat, he saw his class monitor, Wang Jing, and her roommate, He Xiaoyue, walk in looking tired.
“Hey, isn’t this Hero Lin himself? You still eat out like us mere mortals!” Wang Jing blinked in surprise, then laughed.
After all, being classmates, she naturally knew what had been happening online these past few days — his popularity had exploded.
He Xiaoyue chuckled beside her. “We saw your interview video! Lin the Handsome on camera — now you’re the campus celebrity. Even the school’s official account reposted it.”
Faced with their teasing, Lin Mo wasn’t at all embarrassed. It wasn’t like they had just met. Though he wasn’t close to He Xiaoyue, they were classmates after all — how unfamiliar could they be?
“What, I not only eat in person, I even poop in person. No matter how famous you get, you still have to eat, right?” Lin Mo said, waving his hand with a grin.
“Gross!” Wang Jing punched him lightly and spat, “You trying to ruin our appetites?”
“You two haven’t even ordered yet, and I’m already eating — you’re not gonna lose your appetite over that.” Lin Mo shrugged matter-of-factly.
Unable to win the argument, Wang Jing and He Xiaoyue each ordered a bowl of noodles and naturally sat with him.
“You know,” Wang Jing said as she stirred her noodles, “when I first saw you online, I thought I was seeing things. You really made a splash after that trip.”
“Yeah, you were trending, got praised by the school, even got a cash prize. Our counselor’s been posting your photos and videos in the group nonstop, telling us to learn from you,” He Xiaoyue said enviously.
After all, nearly thirty thousand yuan was a huge sum for students. Most college students’ monthly living expenses barely reached a thousand — some even less.
Of course, living expenses varied depending on region and city. In high-cost areas, one thousand really wasn’t enough, while students from wealthier families might get more. But for most ordinary students, it was still a lot.
Unless, of course, they were dating — since once a college guy started dating, his cost of living skyrocketed.
If one didn’t date, thirty thousand could almost cover two years of expenses. How could that not be considered a fortune?
“Eh, I didn’t expect things to turn out that way,” Lin Mo said, waving his hand dismissively. “By the way, your dorm only has you two left now?”
Wang Jing rolled her eyes. “It’s been half a month since school started, and you’re just finding out?”
“I’ve been pretty busy lately, haven’t really stayed around school much,” Lin Mo said a bit sheepishly.
Truthfully, even if he had been around, he wouldn’t have known. He wasn’t familiar with the girls in their class anyway. Besides the big class monitor sitting before him, he’d barely spoken a few words to He Xiaoyue in three years.
Anyone who’s been to college knows — if a guy doesn’t date, it’s not just girls he doesn’t talk to; even communication between male dorms isn’t that frequent.
Each dorm was its own little circle. You might chat privately, but it was rare to fully integrate into another one.
Their dorm’s four guys weren’t particularly social, so their small circle was very stable.
“I get it. Handsome Lin is a busy man,” Wang Jing teased.
Lin Mo chuckled. “Not as busy as our class monitor. Look how drained Wang Chu looks lately. Anyone would think he just plowed a few acres of farmland.”
That one hit home — Wang Jing’s face instantly flushed bright red, while He Xiaoyue giggled behind her hand.
“Eat, eat! It’s getting cold!” Wang Jing quickly changed the subject, not daring to meet his eyes.
Lin Mo exchanged a knowing glance with He Xiaoyue, and both immediately understood the other’s expression.
After dinner, Lin Mo paid the bill and the three of them walked back together, chatting about recent campus happenings while watching the freshmen’s military drills.
Soon, there’d be no more chances to see them — the half-month of training was about to end, and by this time next year, they’d be graduating.
“Zhou Yong got disciplined by the school — removed as student council president, ordered to delete his online post, and apologize to Zhao Tingting in person.
Zhao Tingting isn’t satisfied, but the school seems intent on quietly handling it. Can’t believe it ended like that,” Wang Jing sighed as they walked along the track. Clearly, her information network was sharper than Sichuan Girl’s and the rest.
Lin Mo frowned. “After all that, even with the punishment, it’ll be hard for Zhou Yong to restore her image. The evidence was solid.”
“Seems like she’s trying to keep her recommendation for graduate studies. Once we graduate, she won’t have many people around to remember her anyway,” Wang Jing said.
Lin Mo:
He had to admit, the woman did have some skill — though whether she could achieve her goal was another story.
“Oh right, what do you guys usually do in your dorm? If you’re free tomorrow, how about our dorms go out together? You’ve got a car, and I found a really pretty camping site online. We could go check it out!”
Wang Jing said suddenly, her eyes filled with expectation.
Lin Mo rolled his eyes. So now she was setting her sights on him. As expected, love truly made people blind.
“We usually do our own thing. Sichuan Girl’s been busy with her part-time job, and I’m going to the library tomorrow. Wang Chu might be free though. How about this — forget the dorm outing, you two should just go together. Sounds like a great idea to me,” Lin Mo said slyly.
Wang Jing’s face turned crimson again as she punched him. “Don’t mess around! I’m serious!”
Seeing that, Lin Mo thought for a moment and suddenly asked, “Class Monitor, do you have a guy you like?”
“Huh? Why are you asking that?” Wang Jing’s eyes flickered evasively.
Lin Mo smiled. “Nothing much, just curious. But I do know a foolproof trick to make any girl get the guy she likes — works every time.”
Wang Jing blinked in surprise. “Really? What is it?”
Lin Mo cleared his throat. “Simple. Just ask him, ‘Can I kiss you?’ If he says yes, you kiss him right away. If he says no, well—” he grinned, “—don’t listen to him.”
