Everyone Wants Me Dead: The Villain Lord's Survival Diary

Chapter 79 – Take the initiative

Chapter 79 – Take the initiative

Sylvie stood on the city wall, nearly laughing to death at the players' ridiculous antics.

However, with the magical shields, the warrior players were indeed like tigers with wings, quickly advancing under the rain of arrows to the base of the wall.

They tossed grappling hooks onto the battlements and began to climb swiftly.

Compared to the knights, who possessed battle aura and explosive power, the warriors, despite lacking battle aura, had strong physiques and stable output, so their climbing speed wasn't slow. In just a breath or two, they had already scaled halfway up the wall.

Just then, a foul, steaming liquid mixed with filth suddenly poured down onto the head of one of the warrior players.

Most players had set their pain perception to zero, but they still had taste and sight, and this golden shower made them feel utterly disgusted.

Many warrior players gagged and fell off the wall on the spot.

However, a few warrior players ignored it and continued to pant and climb upward.

As long as there's no filth in the heart, what's on the head isn't filth.

"Release the rolling stones!"

With Sylvie's command, the system soldiers behind him immediately lifted the stones piled by the wall and hurled them at the players below.

The warrior players were instantly hit, their heads bleeding.

More players were directly knocked off the wall and fell to their deaths. The few who survived lay on the ground, cursing amidst the golden liquid at the base of the wall:

"Damn it, Eaglehold Lord, you're such a bastard!"

"I really can't eat today... Ugh..."

"Eaglehold Lord, if you have the guts, let us up!"

...

Sylvie pursed his lips.

He wasn't about to talk about righteousness and morality with these players.

He would use whatever method was effective, and although he had the upper hand now, it was only temporary.

His supply of golden liquid and rolling stones would eventually run out, but the players could keep resurrecting.

At this rate, it was only a matter of time before these players took Winterfell City.

The most important issue was dealing with the players' mage legion.

They were no longer the under-level-10 mage apprentices they once were; most of them were now legitimate mages.

The veteran players from the first beta were already over level 20, becoming archmages.

Mages above level 10 could learn a crucial survival skill: the spell shield, which could be cast on themselves or their teammates.

It's important to know that mages were a rare profession on the Kain Continent.

Eaglehold, being on the border, wasn't a place where many mages would want to stay. Most mages were in the Royal Capital, receiving patronage, running academies, or conducting research in their mage towers.

Even the legion mages in the army weren't a force Sylvie could command; they belonged to the Cologne Empire's royal family.

But for players, being a mage was just a very ordinary choice.

"All magic cannons, focus on the outsider mage group."

Sylvie observed the densely packed player mage legion and raised his hand to give the order.

Arrows couldn't reach them, but surely the magic cannons could.

The players also noticed the magic cannons on the wall starting to turn, and Avatar immediately warned:

It can be hard to make great work when its stolen from "p𝑎wread.com".

"Mage group, spread out and watch out for that strange cannon."

However, the magic cannons were too fast, and only a few players reacted in time to dodge.

Most players were in chaos, not knowing where to hide. After four shots from the magic cannons, a small section of the mage group was cleared out.

"Revived mages, quickly come up and continue casting shields, don't run around!"

"Don't cluster together, spread out."

It was their first time commanding such a siege, and with the experience being 100% real, the player representatives, although experienced in other games, found this completely different.

There were too many factors to consider here; it wasn't as simple as a few lines of code determining the outcome.

Sylvie looked at the mages below, who were once again shielding the warriors, feeling a bit helpless.

There were simply too many player mages, at least over three thousand. Even though the magic cannons were powerful, they were just a drop in the bucket against such numbers.

While ordering the magic cannons to continue firing, Sylvie began to think of a strategy.

He still needed to break the players' crystals, but once broken, he had to retreat immediately. If he got entangled with over eight thousand players, the consequences would be dire.

Holding the walls was the safest choice, but it was a slow death.

He couldn't hope to grind the players down to level zero. The castle's gold and iron ore were limited, and he couldn't keep producing system soldiers indefinitely.

He ultimately couldn't outlast the players, so he planned to take the initiative and attack.

Sylvie pondered for a moment, then called over Claremont and the Hellfire Lord, Saraken.

"Claremont, I'm planning to go out and attack. Keep an eye on Ye Hao for me."

After speaking, Sylvie turned his gaze to the Hellfire Lord and instructed:

"Saraken, do you see those three crystal-like structures behind the outsider army?"

Sylvie pointed towards the back of the player army, and Saraken followed his direction, nodding his large, flame-licked head.

"I remember you have a skill called 'Hellfire Descent,' which can descend on a designated location within a certain range above the enemy."

"So your task is to descend above the crystal structures and help me destroy them. Kill as many outsiders around the crystals as you can. After destroying them, you must return within ten minutes."

"Destruction! Annihilation! Death!"

"Heh heh heh, Saraken excels at this! Honorable worm... uh, My Lord."

Saraken grinned widely, his laughter echoing as he pounded his chest, causing a few smoldering stone fragments to fall off.

"Then..."

Sylvie nodded, turned around, and gently touched the soft, fair cheek of the little maid beside him, instructing the Minotaur chieftain:

"Bane Bloodhoof, once we leave, the task of defending the walls is yours. The walls can be lost, but protect Loli for me."

"My Lord, rest assured, I swear by the Great Earth Mother, I will protect your female!"

Sylvie: "..."

"M-Master..."

The little maid looked at Sylvie with concern, hesitant to speak.

"Don't worry, I'll be back soon."

Sylvie smiled gently, bending down to embrace Loli, his chin resting against her cheek, soothing her softly:

"Loli, these outsiders won't stop attacking. Once they breach the walls, the soldiers will suffer casualties, so I'm counting on you."

The little maid knew her help was needed more on the walls, so she nodded obediently, then stood on tiptoe, pecked Sylvie's neck, and looked into his eyes with determination, whispering:

"M-Master, you must know, Loli will always be with you... no matter where you go... even if..."

She didn't finish her sentence, believing it was unlucky to say, but she knew her master would understand her meaning.
