Everyone Wants Me Dead: The Villain Lord's Survival Diary

Chapter 67 – The System has updated again

Chapter 67 – The System has updated again

Life was becoming increasingly oppressive.

Who knows when he might lose control and end up with a death sentence hanging over him.

At this moment, the little maid was humming an unknown tune as she tidied up the bed.

Sylvie had just changed his pants and stood by the bed with a calm demeanor, eyes focused ahead, ignoring the swaying fluffy tail and little bottom in front of him.

"Loli... you actually don't need to..."

"Master~"

Before Sylvie could finish his sentence, the little maid, having finished changing the sheets, pressed herself against him, wrapping her soft little hands around his neck and gently pushing him onto the bed.

Her eyes were misty, filled with a passionate gaze, and she whispered softly into his ear:

"Master... are you satisfied?"

Sylvie turned his face to the side, trying to maintain his composure as he argued:

"Satisfied... ahem, it's not about satisfaction, it's mainly..."

"Master~"

The little maid leaned in closer, her lips almost touching his ear, softly asking:

"Then, Master... do you prefer Loli with stockings or without?"

"…"

"Tell me~"

"How about with?" Sylvie hesitated, his mind buzzing, his blood rushing and leaving him disoriented.

"Hehe~" Loli squinted her eyes with a smile, her face blushing as her tail swayed, wrapping around Sylvie's leg.

"Then... what kind does Master want?"

"Black, white, lace... or... fishnet?"

"Loli, it's getting late, let's sleep..."

"Master, tell me~"

"…How about trying black first..."

"Okay~ Loli will listen to Master~"

Having received the answer she wanted, the little maid smiled contentedly.

She lifted her slender, soft leg over Sylvie's waist, wrapping her small hands tightly around his neck, and then nestled her face into his neck, giving it a couple of kisses before obediently closing her eyes to sleep.

The little maid fell asleep, but Sylvie could only stare blankly at the crystal chandelier above.

This little girl was becoming more and more of a tease, and the key was that she was neither too soft nor too hard, like a soft martial art technique, and he didn't know how long he could hold out.

Unable to sleep, Sylvie pulled up the system panel. While he was on the bed earlier, the system notifications kept popping up, but he couldn't focus on them at the time.

[Ding! Host has abducted the Saintess, gaining 20,000 Villain Points.]

[Ding! ...Due to unknown reasons... detected that the second test of "Kain Continent" has been initiated early...]

[Repair failed...]

[Ding! System updating... System update complete, Villain Shop has added a Barracks module, please check.]

[Ding! Please check immediately!]

[Ding! Check now!]

[Ding! Look!!!]

...

"The lousy system updated again?"

"The second test for players? So soon?"

Sylvie was taken aback. The second test had ten thousand players, and if they attacked Winterfell City...

He could escape, but could he run away with Winterfell City on his back?

As a lord, losing the main city meant he was no lord at all.

Moreover, the system had become increasingly urgent since last time.

So does the system actually have emotions?

Could it really be the reincarnation of the lousy lord from the game in his past life? The more Sylvie thought about it, the more plausible it seemed, especially since the system's tasks were bizarre and twisted.

Though he did enjoy some of those tasks.

He just didn't understand why the system's intelligence was so low, mostly stiff and unresponsive, like an old computer that lagged.

"System, can you see what I'm doing usually?"

System: "…"

"Hey? System, I know you're there, don't play dead!"

[Ding! The system cannot share vision with the host, it can only use @#$&% energy to analyze the host's surrounding environment. Rest assured, your privacy is set as supreme within the system's permissions.]

I see, Sylvie thought, understanding.

"Stupid system?"

"Dumb system?"

"Aha, lousy system, you have no balls!"

The system remained unresponsive.

Sylvie was relieved, realizing that when he cursed the system in his mind or thought about exploiting its loopholes, it wasn't playing dead—it simply didn't know.

"Other people's systems are like masterminds, good at controlling the host, seizing power, even replacing them."

"My system is like a forcibly recruited artificial idiot."

"The key is, it has no power and is pitiful."

Sylvie grinned, feeling quite pleased, even the urgency brought by the second test of players seemed to lessen.

"Now, let me see the new feature of the pitiful system."

"Barracks module?"

Curious, Sylvie opened the Barracks section in the Villain Shop in his mind, and a series of various buildings appeared before him.

Current permissions only allow level one troop buildings:

[Outpost] can recruit troops, Crusaders, Archers. (Requires 20,000 Villain Points to exchange) [More Info]

[Beast Pen] can recruit troops, Orc Infantry, Orc Spearmen. (Requires 20,000 Villain Points to exchange) [More Info]

[Shadow Guild] can recruit troops, Shadow Assassins, Shadow Crossbowmen. (Requires 25,000 Villain Points to exchange) [More Info]

[Rock Cavern] can recruit troops, Golems, Fire Imps. (Requires 20,000 Villain Points to exchange) [More Info]

[Graveyard] can recruit troops, Skeleton Soldiers, Skeleton Archers. (Requires 15,000 Villain Points to exchange) [More Info]

[Mystic Forest] can recruit troops, Tree Spirits, Black Panthers. (Requires 15,000 Villain Points to exchange) [More Info]

"What the heck is this?"

Sylvie looked bewildered at the series of so-called "level one barracks," feeling a bit lost.

He understood the Crusaders and Archers at the front, but what were the rest?

Does it mean that as long as he exchanges for the corresponding barracks, he can recruit these troops?

With curiosity, Sylvie opened the detailed information for the Outpost.

[Outpost]: Human troop recruitment building for Crusaders and Archers. Crusaders can be recruited at the Outpost for 50 Villain Points plus 2 gold coins, and Archers for 100 Villain Points plus 2 gold coins. (Providing sufficient iron ore can reduce recruitment cost by half.)

Note: Recruited troops are system troops, fully obedient to the host, possessing a certain level of intelligence.

Troops start at level 15, and their level can be increased through training and combat, promoting intelligence growth. Troops require daily food supply (one-quarter of a normal soldier's consumption).

After reading the Outpost's introduction, Sylvie felt a bit unsettled. The appearance of the barracks meant his situation could gradually shift from passive to active.

System troops were cheap, with food consumption only a quarter of normal, and more importantly, they eliminated the time needed to train soldiers, coming equipped with armor and gear.

It seemed he could completely let go of his concerns and start mass-producing troops!
