Everyone Wants Me Dead: The Villain Lord's Survival Diary

Chapter 40 – The Secret of Breath of the Wilds

Chapter 40 – The Secret of Breath of the Wilds

Sylvie looked a bit at a loss as he gazed at the little maid in his arms.

He was drenched in sweat, but seeing Loli like this, he couldn't bear to push her away.

He could only smile helplessly, placing his hand on Loli's back, gently patting her as if soothing a cat, and said:

"Loli, how about you wait until I've taken a bath before hugging me? I'm all sweaty right now..."

However, the little maid seemed not to hear him, holding onto his waist even tighter, as if she wanted to meld herself completely into him.

After a moment, perhaps having hugged enough or realizing she shouldn't affect Sylvie like this, Loli voluntarily let go. Her large, dreamy eyes blinked as she murmured, "Master smells so nice, it feels so warm, I just want to hold Master forever..."

"Ugh... Loli can't help it again." Saying this, Loli buried herself back into Sylvie's embrace, taking a deep sniff and rubbing against him, letting out a satisfied hum.

"Smells nice? Makes you feel warm?" Sylvie touched Loli's little face, asking in confusion.

Loli didn't lift her head, hiding in Sylvie's arms, unwilling to leave for even a moment, her voice muffled as she responded:

"Yes, Master, just like when I was little, when my mom held me outside counting stars, the wind blowing over the fields."

Hearing this, Sylvie was taken aback, a bold hypothesis forming in his mind—could it be the Source of the Wilds?

Could Loli sense the Breath of the Wilds?

To verify his thoughts, Sylvie asked Loli if she had ever heard of Demi-humans awakening their bloodline powers.

Loli tilted her head, thinking seriously, a hint of reminiscence and sadness flashing in her eyes.

After a moment, she organized her thoughts and said to Sylvie, "When Loli was little, I heard my father say that Demi-humans were a very powerful race many years ago."

"Although we can't cultivate Battle Aura, nor do we have any magical talent, we can awaken the power hidden in our bloodline through understanding nature."

"But the conditions for awakening this power are very harsh, requiring not only talent but also a resonance between one's understanding and the power in their bloodline."

"Some people luckily awakened the power of water under a waterfall, some encountered a tornado and understood the power of wind, and others lived among beasts, gaining the power of beasts."

"We don't know what is hidden in our bloodline, so we have to try one by one, but only a few succeed. However, once they do, some can become strong like Master upon awakening."

Loli spoke slowly, finally resting her gaze on Sylvie's face, her cheeks blushing as she buried herself back into Sylvie's embrace.

Sylvie didn't notice the girl's small actions, his mind fully occupied with organizing the information from Loli's words, deep in thought.

He realized two points.

First, the waterfall, tornado, and beast packs Loli described are unique natural landscapes, and it's normal for the Breath of the Wilds to exist in such places.

Second, he finally confirmed that the Templar Knight's holy blood ritual used the power of the Demi-human bloodline. No wonder that Templar Knight turned into a werewolf at the end; it was likely an awakening of the power of beasts.

Now, Sylvie was the Source of the Wilds, theoretically possessing all kinds of Breath of the Wilds.

As long as they have enough talent, any Demi-human could find the Breath of the Wilds on him that resonates with their bloodline.

So, when Loli said she felt warmth, it should be because she resonated with some Breath of the Wilds in his body.

In other words, Loli might have the potential to awaken her bloodline abilities!

Sylvie was delighted by this, quickly helping Loli up from his embrace, asking her with a curious look in her eyes:

"Loli, do you remember how your people perceive nature?"

Loli didn't understand why Sylvie was asking, but she obediently nodded and replied:

"Loli remembers, it's our Demi-human talent, a memory engraved in our bloodline. When perceiving, if we resonate with nature, we see visions related to our bloodline power, and by repeatedly seeking similar visions, we can awaken."

At this point, Loli shook her head sadly and continued, "From birth until now, wandering with my brother, I've occasionally tried to perceive natural landscapes, but I've always failed. I probably don't have much talent."

Sylvie held the girl's hand, giving it a comforting squeeze, and said with a cheerful smile:

"Maybe it's not that you lack talent, but that you haven't found the feeling that resonates with your bloodline. Why don't you try perceiving that scent on me that you find so fragrant and warm now?"

Sylvie smiled mysteriously, adding, "There might be a surprise."

Loli looked at her master in confusion, but obediently clasped her hands in front of her chest, using her talent to perceive the aura on him.

A familiar, warm sensation began to wrap around her, gradually enveloping her entire being.

And at that moment, a gentle white light emerged from the girl's body.

She saw it.

She saw a silent wheat field, the chirping of insects and birds, life flourishing; she saw the wild grass reborn by the spring breeze, beginning its new cycle; she saw the sunset against the horizon, the green pines standing on cliffs, and the vast sands where wild geese land.

She saw life.
