Since the players have agreed to join, Sylvie decided not to waste any more time in Morninglight Town. Blackriver Town was in urgent need of his assistance.
The number of orc troops dispatched this time was unknown, but based on past experiences, there were at least five thousand units.
Each of Sylvie's regular soldiers was a precious asset he had meticulously trained. Losing even one would pain him, and he didn't want to waste his regular army on probing the enemy's strength.
But the players were different. Although they were weak, their ability to resurrect made them the best scouts and cannon fodder.
Morninglight Town was originally theirs, and Sylvie merely exploited an information gap to trick all the players into risking their lives for him, while also suppressing the protagonist party and completing a system quest.
One could say this was a huge win.
By inciting players to enter the battlefield, he could not only scout the enemy's strength without any cost but also weaken the players' power at the same time.
Currently, the players' main quest had reached the second stage—building Morninglight Town.
However, Sylvie's actions did not affect the main quest, so the system did not issue any prompts.
Outside Morninglight Town, Sylvie had already reorganized his army, while the players were led by a few representatives, standing at the back of the formation.
"Pass the order, everyone target Blackriver Town, quick march, move out!"
Suddenly, the clashing of armor and swords, along with the sound of footsteps and horse hooves, filled the air. Under the fearful gazes of the demi-humans, the swiftly arriving army departed just as quickly.
Only now, there was a group of "chattering" Heroic Spirits trailing behind the army.
...
Inside a newly built exquisite wooden house in Morninglight Town, the charming Demi-human Saintess Roye was staring blankly at the departing army.
Those Heroic Spirits were going to be cannon fodder for her, for the demi-humans, and for Morninglight Town.
Although the Heroic Spirits could resurrect, the feeling of being killed was unavoidable.
The fear and brutality they would face could not be erased by resurrection.
Moreover, it was said that their strength would be weakened after dying.
Roye felt sad about this and secretly hated her own weakness and helplessness. She couldn't help but recall that powerful, cold, and ruthless man.
She thought of his long, strong fingers lifting her chin.
She thought of his eyes staring at her like a hungry wolf.
"He's really fierce, really scary, but why do I have this strange feeling?" Roye murmured to herself in confusion.
She hugged her big tail, her pretty face blushing, her heart feeling like it was being scratched by a cat.
That sense of oppression, those cold and ruthless words, now made her feel a bit tingly all over. No one had ever treated her like this before...
"I must be sick..."
The girl murmured helplessly.

After an afternoon of forced marching, Sylvie led the army and players to successfully reach Blackriver Town. Along the way, they had seen many villages destroyed by orc soldiers, but no trace of the orcs themselves.
Sylvie's immediate task was to meet with Baron Talamb and gather relevant intelligence. He knew nothing about the movements of the orc soldiers, and rashly pursuing them could put his troops in danger.
In the front hall of Blackriver Keep.
Seeing the travel-worn Sylvie and his group, Talamb wore an exaggerated smile and warmly welcomed them. He spoke in a tone reminiscent of a bard:
"By the gods, look who has arrived! It's the savior of Blackriver Territory, our Earl of Eaglehold, Lord Sylvie~"
Surrounded by butlers and knights, Talamb came up to Sylvie, looking at him and his army with delight, extending his short, plump hand:
"Welcome to Blackriver Keep! On behalf of all the people of Blackriver Territory, I thank you for your support."
Sylvie responded with a curt "Hmm," naturally placing the reins in Talamb's outstretched hand.
He glanced around, calmly walked to the conference table in the front hall, and sat at the head position.
Talamb's face suddenly darkened, feeling annoyed and resentful at Sylvie's arrogance, but as he turned around, he plastered a delighted smile back on his face.
His butler, Doug, perceptively took the reins from his hand.
"Baron Talamb, I don't want to waste words with you. Please immediately report the relevant intelligence on the invading beastfolk soldiers."
Sylvie tapped the table, preemptively blocking Talamb's flattery.
Talamb, with a sycophantic smile, nodded and replied, "Yes, yes, you're right, business is important." Then, he waved to the royal guard knight behind him.
The knight walked to the conference table, turned his back to Talamb, glanced reverently at Sylvie, and laid out a map of Blackriver Territory on the table, respectfully reading aloud:
"Three days ago, the invading orc forces had already captured Ironwood Town at the border of Blackriver Territory, then followed the Blackwater River, advancing towards Blackriver Keep. Routh Town along the way was not spared, and the villages near the Blackwater River were mostly destroyed."
"According to reports from the outposts, the nearest sighting of beastfolk soldiers is three miles outside Blackriver Town, at Carter Village at the foot of the Sorento Range."
"The beastfolk army numbers around six thousand, and there should also be a highly mobile harassment unit. We've organized militias for multiple counterattacks but have not succeeded. It's speculated to be the beastfolk's wolf cavalry, numbering about fifty."

"This is the intelligence we currently have."
After the knight finished speaking, he looked at Sylvie. Seeing Sylvie nod slightly, he obediently stepped aside, waiting for Sylvie's instructions.
Sylvie felt that Talamb's royal guard seemed somewhat familiar, but he couldn't quite place it, so he focused on the map on the conference table. It was clear that the orcs intended to push all the way to Blackriver Keep, and the two towns they had captured along the way were essential stops on their route.
Their main force was responsible for sieging, while the elite wolf cavalry harassed the surrounding villages, disrupting supplies and cutting off the villages' support to the towns.
The route from Morninglight Town into Blackriver Territory was not in the main attack direction of the beastfolk, but Sylvie had still found destroyed villages near Blackriver Town during his approach.
This indicated that the beastfolk invasion plan was already more than halfway complete, with most villages near Blackriver Town nearly ravaged.
Even if they couldn't breach the tall walls of Blackriver Town, they could still besiege it to death.
Talamb, having reached the position of baron, had some basic strategic sense.
Even if he hadn't seen the entire beastfolk plot, he could at least understand half of it, but he still hadn't thought of a good solution, so he had to seek help from Sylvie, the earl.
After all, the village militias were no match for the wolf cavalry and would only be slaughtered. By the time he led his knights in pursuit, the enemy would have long vanished.
"Are there any villages near Blackriver Town that haven't been destroyed? Show me."
The knight standing by quickly stepped forward at Sylvie's inquiry, examined the map briefly, and pointed to a few spots, explaining, "This is Wild Dog Village, this is Luther Village, and this is Ironstone Village. These villages haven't been destroyed yet."
Sylvie pondered the positions of these three villages and finally focused his gaze on Ironstone Village near the Blackwater River.
This village wasn't the closest to Blackriver Town, but its access to water allowed it to transport more supplies than the other two villages.
Moreover, based on the advance direction of the beastfolk main force, they would likely pass near Ironstone Village.
Sylvie speculated that the beastfolk main force and wolf cavalry would eventually converge near Ironstone Village, then cross the Blackwater River, attacking Wild Dog Village and Luther Village in succession, before boldly advancing straight to Blackriver Keep!
What Sylvie needed to do was set an ambush near Ironstone Village in advance, intercept the beastfolk forces, and wipe them out completely.
