Chapter 90
Chapter 90
Ch.90 I Really Want to Slap You…
After sharing everything that had happened, Cecilia finally left my room.
Only then did I sink back onto the bed.
The clock already read 2 a.m.
I’ll be exhausted tomorrow. Better sleep soon.
Just as I drifted off under the soft moonlight filtering through the window—
—Knock.
A knock at the door. I deliberately ignored it.
Yep! I’m just going to sleep.
Whoever it was, I hoped they’d leave if I pretended to be asleep—but…
—Knock knock knock knock!
This rude visitor showed no sign of leaving, pounding the door even harder.
I’m not coming out! I’m sleeping!
I tossed and turned, trying desperately to fall asleep—
—“So you’re forcing me to come in, huh? Fine. Open.”
A chilling voice came from beyond the door.
L-Leah?! Magic is cheating, you know?!
—Click.
The lock clicked open softly, and our eyes met.
“Master? Were you pretending to sleep this whole time?”
—Creak…
Watching the door shut eerily behind her, I gave an awkward smile.
“I was sleeping, but your presence woke me.”
“Hah?”
She glared at me.
Her hair floated eerily in the air, lifted by turbulent magic currents.
“Wait a sec—”
—Whoosh!
She lunged forward and grabbed me by the collar.
“What the hell is going on?! You damn master!”
“Whoa! I already explained everything earlier!”
At my reply, Leah loosened her grip slightly—but only slightly.
“Then what about our promise?! You said you’d date me if I killed the Demon King!”
“Well… that’s…”
“And what about confessing to Cecilia?! Accepting Mia’s vow?!”
A single tear rolled down Leah’s cheek.
“And helping Scarlet—what was that about?!”
—Thump… thump…
She pounded my shoulders weakly.
I never expected this fiery, blunt girl to actually cry.
Am I… about to be burned alive?
Leah’s aura turned ominous.
Her face flushed crimson, her red hair floating unnaturally in midair.
“Argh!”
The blood vessels in her eyes burst; veins stood out starkly on her face.
This… this is magic overload!
Magic overload occurs when a mage loses emotional control and unconsciously channels magic.
For low-level mages, it causes a few days of pain—but for high-level ones, it can make their body explode.
At Leah’s level… this herring boat is doomed to sink.
I have to stop her—now.
—Thud!
I urgently pulled her into a tight embrace.
“I’m sorry… for hiding it all this time.”
I knew it was my fault she’d reached this state.
For the first time in ages, I decided to play the caring mentor.
Holding her small frame close, I patted her head gently.
“You’re different from the other girls…”
(Translation: You’re the only one who won’t instantly burn me to death.)
I’d heard being burned alive was the most excruciating pain a human could endure.
Desperate to avoid that, I forced my voice into the gentlest, most affectionate tone possible.
“You’re my one and only disciple, after all.”
“Sniff… Really? Can I… really believe you?”
“Of course.”
Tears like chicken droppings streamed down Leah’s face.
I wiped them away carefully.
“So don’t cry.”
“Huhh! Master!”
—Thud!
She buried herself in my chest.
I feared she might roast me alive at any moment.
After a long while, she finally calmed down, pulling back with a flushed face.
“H-heh… Do I look ugly?”
Embarrassed by her tears, she covered her eyes with her arm.
Objectively speaking?
She didn’t look ugly at all.
If anything, she looked adorable.
If only her personality weren’t so terrifying.
“No. You don’t look ugly at all.”
She wiped her tears with her sleeve, then sat right beside me on the bed.
“How have you been all this time?”
Traveling with Selena. Having fun. Getting dumped.
Or… was it betrayal, not just dumping?
I still didn’t understand why she’d done it—but mentioning another woman to Leah right now would be suicidal.
If she’s already triggering mana overload… I must avoid further provocation.
“Why aren’t you answering? Were you off playing with another girl?”
“Nah, I only have you guys.”
“You guys?!”
Her eyes shot up sharply.
I quickly backtracked.
“No—just you! My tongue slipped.”
It’s depressingly true that you’re all I have.
I’d rather finish off the King of the Dead and disappear somewhere forever.
“But… how did you even find me out here in the middle of the ocean?”
“Oh… well…”
Leah’s eyes darted around nervously.
Suspicious.
Extremely suspicious.
Why did she look so anxious?
Her expression screamed, ‘I did something terrible…’
But pressing her now would be amateurish.
I put on my most gentle expression and asked softly,
“Tell me. How did you know? I won’t get angry.”
Leah hesitated, then spoke with difficulty.
“Actually… last time, when you tried to secretly leave for the New Continent from the capital without telling me…”
“Hmm?”
“I cast a tracking spell on you… just in case you tried to run away again.”
“What?!”
Her unexpected confession stunned me.
So that’s how you found me in the middle of the ocean?!
You ungrateful disciple!
Stalking your own master with magic?!
Wait…
“Does such a spell even exist? Why have I never heard of it?”
I prided myself on knowing every spell in ‘Destiny’.
There’s no way an unknown spell exists…
She blinked rapidly and whispered,
“Well… I invented it myself.”
Ah… so I raised a stalker.
A deep sigh of regret escaped me.
Hans, you fool—how could you raise such a monster?
A male-hating, psychopathic stalker…
This was truly terrifying.
But it’s not too late.
I can still fix this.
I forced a painfully bright smile onto my face.
“Please remove it.”
—Whoosh! Whoosh!
Leah shook her head violently and declared firmly,
“No.”
“Why? That’s wrong! Stalking your master—no, tracking his location—is unacceptable. Don’t I deserve privacy?”
I spoke as kindly as possible, but she clearly had no intention of listening.
“You tried to run away first! How dare you say that after abandoning me?!”
She justified her stalking with complete confidence.
I opened my mouth to argue—but seeing her eyes flicker dangerously, I quickly patted her head.
“I see… Then do as you please, my dear Leah! Do whatever you want! You’re my disciple, after all.”
What choice did I have? I’m powerless—I must endure.
After hours of idle chatter, Leah finally stood up, looking drowsy.
“I should go now.”
I nodded vigorously.
“Yeah! Go get some sleep. Haaah~!”
Glancing at the clock—5 a.m.—I truly wanted to sleep too.
“Master… you remember our promise, right? I killed the Demon King… so now we’re dating, okay?”
If I said no, she’d cling to me all night.
So I obediently nodded.
“Yeah… sure.”
She beamed at my answer.
“And our relationship is a secret from the others.”
“Huh? Why?”
Cecilia had said the same. Mia too.
Why keep it secret?
“It’s because… if the others find out, they’ll interfere!”
“Oh… I guess so?”
Could Cecilia have had the same thought?
Anyway… today I’d been forced into relationships with two women.
Being claimed by these dangerous, hell-sent women was utterly terrifying.
A saint who kills rivals ‘out of love,’ and a pyromaniac who breathes fire—
and I’m stuck between them with both feet in.
This was beyond terrifying.
If word got out that I was officially dating either of them…
I couldn’t even imagine Scarlet’s reaction—but Mia’s?
Would she flay my skin off?
Or… torture me?
A cold sweat trickled down my spine.
“Of course! We’ll keep it a secret from everyone.”
Leah nodded firmly.
After she left, I lay back down, ready to sleep.
Surely no one else would come now?
Three—Scarlet, Cecilia, and Leah—was more than enough!
Tomorrow, I needed to recover the Concept Artifacts.
Just as I closed my eyes—
—Knock.
Ugh… please… just let me sleep.
I buried my face in the pillow, ignoring the knock.
Did they leave?
No.
—Knock knock knock! Knock knock knock!
The faster, harder pounding told me sleep was impossible.
I dragged myself up and opened the door—
There stood a golden-haired high elf.
“Asleep already?”
“Oh… I was just about to.”
She gently pushed past me into the room.
Damn it… Why do all these girls barge in without waiting for an answer?
Did they eat manners for breakfast?
Or am I just cursed to attract this type?
“What are you doing? Leaving the door open?”
Mia glared at me with icy eyes.
I closed the door lightly and asked,
“What brings you here at this hour?”
Her delicate eyebrows twitched.
“You claim to know the future… yet didn’t foresee me coming?”
I sighed at her sharp tone.
“I only know the game’s future.”
“Hmph. Fine.”
She snorted, clearly displeased.
She seemed to have a lot to say.
“Sort out your messy love life.”
“Huh?”
I didn’t understand.
“I get it. This mess is mostly my fault—for not telling you about my vow sooner.”
She closed her eyes and spoke calmly.
“If I’d just said earlier that I’d give myself to you… you wouldn’t be so lost now…”
Her self-deprecating words sent chills down my spine.
Give… what? Are you insane?
Is she seriously offering herself—the human-skin-collecting elf queen—as my wife?
The Elven Vow.
Among elves, it’s a sacred promise: to love only one person until death.
Unlike humans, elves never remarry—so the vow is deeply romantic…
But if the one making it enjoys torture?
One complaint about dinner, and I’d be on the rack.
No thanks. I refuse that kind of marriage.
“Can I reject that vow?”
Mia stared at me, dumbfounded.
“What? Reject it?”
“Yes. I reject it.”
She looked genuinely shocked, then whined like a child,
“Think carefully, Sage. I’ll keep this beauty forever. I hate to brag, but no one would ever say I lack looks…”
As her speech dragged on, I waved my hand.
“I don’t care about looks—your personality is rotten! And with your high elf pride, you’ll clearly look down on me, a mere human. Why marry me?”
Her eyes went blank; her mouth hung open.
She made a bizarre expression—beautiful, yes, but that wasn’t everything.
Honestly, I’d seen Mia humiliate people more than once.
If I ever argued with her…
It’d be the day my skin got peeled off.
So rejecting this was absolutely the right call.
Satisfied with my decision, I nodded—
“Are you really rejecting my vow?”
Mia’s voice turned chillingly ominous.
The heavy pressure in the air made my stomach clench.
“Fine… if I can’t have you…”
—Shhk…
She pulled a dagger from her robes.
I panicked.
“W-wait a second!”
—Thud…
She dropped the dagger to the floor, closed her eyes, and said,
“If you truly refuse my vow… then kill me.”
Why… why did this turn into a life-or-death ultimatum?!
“Rejecting your vow doesn’t mean you have to die! That’s way too extreme!”
I tried to laugh it off, but she wouldn’t budge.
“No. For elves, being rejected after offering the vow is worse than death. You expect me to tell the Hero party and my family that I—a high elf—was dumped by a mere human?! I can’t! I’d rather die!”
What ridiculous pride!
She’d rather die than face embarrassment?
Sure, Mia’s pride was immense—but this was overkill.
“Lady Mia, even if you’re rejected, you don’t have to—”
Before I could finish, she collapsed onto the floor.
“Better to die… than live with this shame…”
She grabbed the dagger’s hilt and cried out,
“I’ll die! The other high elves will mock me—‘She gave her vow to a human and got rejected!’ I’d rather die than endure that humiliation for centuries!”
I desperately grabbed her arm.
“Wait! I’ll accept it! Just accept it, okay?!”
If Mia died because of me, my relationship with the elves would be ruined forever.
After all, her mother was the Elf Queen herself.
She looked at me, half-believing.
“Really?”
“Yes! I was joking earlier—don’t take it seriously.”
“Hehe… Of course. The Sage is wise. Rejecting a high elf’s excellence would be foolish.”
Seeing her smug smile, I nearly cursed out loud.
I really want to slap you…
Really, truly.
