Evading the Hero’s Party with Full Effort

Chapter 198

Chapter 198

Ch.198 It was Levi’s Dagger

“Progress through destruction? Really?”

At Selena’s words, I nodded.

“Yes. My world was once like this—minus magic and divine power.”

As I waved my hand—

—Crash!

The scenery around us shattered into fragments, revealing a blinding white space.

“Hans…”

“We’re out of time. We don’t know how much real time has passed while we’ve been in Hell.”

I stepped closer to her uncertain expression.

“The King of the Dead is probably gone, and the Demon King is running wild. Demons are flooding out through the open Hell Gate.”

I gently wrapped my arm around her shoulder.

“You still don’t understand?”

“Ugh… I don’t know what’s right anymore.”

“If you don’t choose, you’ll fall into a world with no hope. I can’t just watch the God of Death’s seal break.”

Countless game foreshadowing proved he was an evil god.

Selena looked fearful.

A small tremor ran through her shoulder under my hand.

“Is he truly an evil god?”

Her choice would change everything.

“I’m certain he is.”

“But…”

I gently lifted her chin.

“If you can’t trust yourself, trust me. I’ll take responsibility.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. I won’t let you regret your choice.”

Her face flushed instantly. She turned away, voice trembling.

“R-Really?”

Why did her voice sound… shy?

“And… you’ll still try to go with me to your world?”

“Huh? That…”

I’d said something similar before—but never made a promise.

It was just empty flattery. I never meant to go with her.

The thought of her falling into another cult made my head spin.

“What’s with that reaction?”

She whirled around, eyes blazing.

“Hah! Of course not! I just don’t know if there’s a way!”

I needed to stall.

This was our chance to finally rid ourselves of Roy.

I’d lie a hundred times if I had to.

I took her hand.

“Selena. You must choose now—before it’s too late.”

“Mm… but… will you really stay by my side?”

I nodded vigorously at her half-lidded gaze.

“Of course.”

“Hmm… alright. I’ll trust you.”

As she smiled brightly, the white space glowed even brighter—

A light so intense, I couldn’t open my eyes.

“See you in a bit.”

Her whisper faded as I lost consciousness.

***

Strange energy seeped from Selena’s body.

Dark, murky violet mist began to leak out—

The Hero Party retreated instantly.

“Is the King of the Dead emerging?”

“It must be… such a vast, dark soul!”

—Kraaaaah! You treacherous bitch!

The voice—old, gravelly—was unmistakably Roy’s.

Cecilia gathered golden divine power in both hands and cried out:

“Eek! You’ve finally appeared, Roy!”

The violet mist coalesced into the form of a man in his thirties.

—Damn it! Damn it!

“I shall purify your wicked heart and soul! Divine One! Save this wretch!”

She reached out toward the murky violet shadow—

But her holy hand passed through Roy’s form.

He was a spirit—not physical. He couldn’t harm her.

As Cecilia’s radiant hand touched Roy’s body—

The violet mist cracked.

—Crack!

White mist seeped from the fissures.

An eerie phenomenon.

A translucent violet form—splitting, releasing pure white vapor.

—Aaaah! Just one step… one step away! Is this how it ends? So meaningless!

Cecilia stood before Roy.

“Worshipper of false gods. Deluded by deceit. The Divine will save you…”

She gently caressed his face, as if pitying a lost child.

“You were deceived. This isn’t the end. It isn’t meaningless.”

—Aaaah! Shut up! You dogs of the god who created this absurd world!

As Roy screamed in rage, moments before dissolving, Cecilia spoke:

“If you’re purified, you’ll understand what I meant.”

—Aaaah! Not yet… I haven’t seen my family! My poor, dead family…!

Roy tried to speak further—but his body melted into nothing.

The dying man’s soul vanished.

Scarlet murmured softly:

“Is it… finally over?”

“Seems like it.”

The Hero Party sighed in relief, turning to Hans.

They assumed he’d awaken soon—since Roy had left Selena’s body.

And they were right.

Slowly, Hans opened his eyes.

—Whump!

All the women simultaneously hugged him.

“Huh?”

“Why…?”

They exchanged glances, wondering why they were hugging him.

Just as their gazes sharpened—

Hans spoke:

“Ugh… what are you all doing?”

They all stared at him with strange expressions.

***

“Ugh… what are you all doing?”

The Hero Party stared at me, still hugging me, their expressions odd.

They’re not normal anyway—I figured—but now?

It felt like the calm before the storm.

I felt tension crackling between them—

—Haaah…

Selena yawned.

Their heads snapped toward her.

“Huh? Hans?”

At Selena’s clear voice, they sighed in relief—believing she was back to normal.

“Who are you?”

Selena’s face twisted as she stared at the Hero Party, then sprang up and charged.

“You called us‘you’?”  “You… you dare call me that?!”

Leah and Cecilia hurled insults:

“You, servant of the God of Death’s evil cult!”

Enraged, Selena snapped:

“What?! Did you say everything already?!”

Leah extended a hand—

The air instantly changed.

Hot. Thick.

—Whoosh!

Her hair floated wildly in the wind—not from the breeze, but from her magic.

“Shut up if you don’t even know the subject. Do you have the right to speak down to us?”

Overwhelmed by Leah’s magic, Selena collapsed to the floor.

“Ughh…”

She bit her lip, humiliation burning in her eyes.

As Leah unleashed her power to pressure Selena, I shouted:

“What are you all doing?!”

“Master? Did you forget what this woman put us through?”

“She killed Lady Icira!”

Mia and Scarlet’s glares were just as cold.

Selena, too, glared back—eyes blazing.

Truthfully, their words made sense.

But Selena had made a difficult choice. I didn’t want them fighting over it now.

“Enough! Selena’s on our side now. Stop it.”

“But—!”

“Father Hans! You’re too soft!”

“I agree. Her wrong choice killed Lady Icira and countless lives.”

I pulled the girls’ arms off me.

“So you won’t listen to me?”

I glared coldly at the Hero Party.

Nekhuf stepped forward.

“Brother? Calm down. And you too, Hero Party.”

But the standoff continued.

Scarlet frowned.

“After so long… is this what you say to us?”

Why…?

I felt moisture in her voice.

A single tear rolled down her cheek.

“Huh…”

“That’s right! Father Hans, how can you side with her?!”

Cecilia scolded me.

You’re no different from her.

“Master, how could you treat us like this? Don’t you know how much we worried about you?!”

Leah’s voice cracked—tears streaked her cheeks.

Wait… why are you crying?

Honestly? I wanted to cry.

My body didn’t feel like it was in four pieces—it felt like five.

At least Mia wasn’t crying?

“Hmph. Disappointed, Hans.”

She sneered—clearly hurt.

I calmed the chaos and listened to their report.

The Demon King, as expected, sent his army to the human world.

The first battle saw dragons join—but they were crushed.

Even if we defeated the demons now, they’d resurrect in Hell and return.

Humanity was at a terrible disadvantage.

“What do we do?”

They seemed defeated—facing demons far stronger than before.

The Hero Party, Nekhuf, and even Selena—all looked grim.

The situation was a mess. But a solution existed.

I pointed my finger at the ash-gray sky of Hell.

“We go to Heaven.”

A casual remark.

But everyone froze in shock.

“H-H-Heaven?!”

“Can we go to Heaven?”

“Impossible!”

The Hero Party, Nekhuf, and Edward gaped.

But Selena didn’t look surprised—she’d already heard my plan.

“Yeah. Hell connects to Heaven.”

In the game, you reach Heaven by defeating the Demon King and ascending through layers.

The path to Heaven exists—but it’s hidden.

In-game, Hell was a multi-layered dungeon.

But the real Hell felt like a single, vast world.

Finding the path here would be impossible.

But I had a guess.

“Then where do we go?”

Cecilia and Leah’s eyes sparkled.

They were children, perhaps—but the idea of Heaven thrilled them.

“To the Demon King’s castle. Leah—take us there.”

Since the Demon King’s castle opened when he died, it was the most likely location.

“Really? But there are too many enemies—”

“Don’t worry. His army’s in the human world. Demons resurrect here—so they won’t be guarding it tightly.”

Even if there were many…

I had one more cheat item.

“Selena. Take this.”

She took the dagger I offered.

“What is this?”

It was Levi’s Dagger.
