Evading the Hero’s Party with Full Effort

Chapter 165

Chapter 165

Ch.165 Would You Like to Have Dinner Before You Go?

Leah and Cecilia were gathering rumors at Hans’s mansion.

They suspected something might be going on between Hans and Mia.

“From what I’ve heard, they only drank tea late at night… but even that’s stopped recently.”

“Maybe it’s fine then?”

Leah’s words made Cecilia frown in thought.

“My woman’s intuition tells me that’s impossible. There’s definitely something between them.”

There truly was something.

They’d even kissed.

But only the two of them knew.

So Leah and Cecilia had no way of knowing.

“Aria says she doesn’t know either.”

The two had come here with a clear plan:

They intended to dig up every detail about Hans and Mia.

They assumed they could simply corner Hans or Mia—and had targeted Aria, Giovanni, and the maids for information.

They gathered plenty of data—but found nothing suspicious.

Leah relaxed.

Cecilia did not.

With a troubled expression, she asked Leah:

“Why did Giovanni take his vacation at this exact moment?”

He left because the Hero Party arrived and he feared for his life…

But…

“There must’ve been a reason Giovanni couldn’t avoid leaving.”

Cecilia, usually smiling gently, had suddenly become razor-sharp.

But Leah, brimming with testosterone, didn’t understand.

“Hm… Maybe he just wanted a vacation?”

Her blunt, straightforward nature made Leah dismiss the idea.

But Cecilia shook her head.

“That’s impossible. Why take a vacation now?”

This was an age where the King of the Dead had risen—and death itself was fading.

Why would anyone take a vacation in such a dark time?

“Maybe he’s confident in his strength?”

Leah, judging from the Hero Party’s standards—where undead were beneath contempt—glanced at Cecilia.

“You’re a holy knight. Shouldn’t you guard your lord? And it’s strange that Hans himself approved the leave. I know him well—he doesn’t like work.”

When Cecilia had visited Pisa before,

She’d studied the mansion’s atmosphere.

Countless people sought her out,

Believing that even a single word from the Saint—God’s representative—was a blessing.

Having lived as a Saint for years, Cecilia spoke with the servants and observed:

—“Oh, most of the domain’s work is handled by Lord Giovanni.”

—“If Giovanni weren’t here, the domain couldn’t function.”

—“The Baron? He just stays in his study. He doesn’t seem to do anything.”

—“Even if the Baron’s absent for months, everything runs smoothly. Isn’t that all thanks to Giovanni?”

Cecilia realized:

While the Hero Party bled on the capital’s walls,

Hans had been lounging, letting Giovanni carry the burden.

She thought of it as a harmless indulgence—and never told anyone.

She knew Leah would flip out if she found out.

But now—

Hans, who hated work, approved Giovanni’s vacation?

‘There’s something. Something’s definitely going on.’

In truth, Giovanni had taken leave out of fear of the Hero Party.

But Cecilia believed it was tied to Hans’s hidden desires.

“Why are you silent? You said he dislikes work.”

Leah’s question pulled Cecilia from her thoughts.

“If Giovanni leaves, Hans’s workload increases. Why would he allow it?”

Leah pondered.

Hans always dumped chores on her.

‘Maybe… that’s just like him?’

Leah, who had observed Hans more closely than anyone else, found Cecilia’s logic sound.

“It makes sense. But that doesn’t mean it’s tied to his… ‘romantic’ interests. Maybe Giovanni had a personal reason.”

True.

Cecilia’s logic was plausible.

But she shook her head.

“My intuition tells me there’s something between them. For example…”

Cecilia paused.

Leah’s ears perked up.

‘She’s usually scatterbrained—but when it comes to this? Her instincts are terrifying.’

Leah waited anxiously.

‘Is it another woman?! Who?!’

But what came from the Saint’s lips surpassed even Leah’s wildest imagination.

“Hans and Giovanni are lovers.”

Leah’s mouth hung open.

Her pupils trembled.

‘What did I just hear? My… my Master… is gay?!’

Shocked and stunned, she managed to choke out:

“N-no way. That’s… impossible.”

Cecilia wagged her finger.

“Tsk tsk. Giovanni has always found us uncomfortable. All of us. Don’t you wonder why?”

Indeed—Giovanni distrusted the entire Hero Party.

He feared their madness might turn on him.

And now, hearing Leah and Cecilia’s suspicions?

It made perfect sense.

“But even so… lovers?!”

“He left because he feared our discovery.”

Cecilia’s claim was wildly incomplete.

Leah, reeling, tried to refute it:

“You’re overreaching.”

“Then what do you think is the reason Giovanni avoids us?”

Cecilia smiled calmly.

Leah thought hard.

‘Come to think of it… that is strange.’

Leah was infamous for her violent personality.

She’d seen many people avoid her.

But no one had ever avoided Scarlett, Mia, and Cecilia.

“Hahaha… Have you finally grasped the truth?”

“What truth? You have no evidence!”

“Evidence? Of course. We’re all stunning beauties—and Giovanni avoids us. Isn’t that proof?”

Giovanni had an arranged fiancée.

But Leah didn’t know that.

Cecilia’s logic made sense to her.

“If he weren’t gay, why would he ignore us? Aah… what a terrible man. He couldn’t even satisfy himself with women—now he’s reaching for men too?”

Cecilia’s words were absurd.

And yet—she was a Saint.

“Hans… he must love anyone who’s beautiful—man or woman.”

“That… that’s impossible! He’s only ever touched women!”

Leah struggled to accept the idea of her Master’s legendary exploits.

‘Master… you’re not… touching men now, are you?!’

Hans would’ve screamed in protest if he’d heard—but he wasn’t here.

“Or… what if the thing we’ve been searching for… isn’t his female conquests at all?”

CRACK!

Leah’s last thread of reason snapped.

“W-what?! Where are you going?!”

She started to move—and Cecilia grabbed her arm desperately.

“Let go!”

The sharp, forceful tone made Cecilia shrink inward—but she couldn’t let Leah go.

She saw the crimson hair ripple with rage.

Leah was going to strangle Hans.

Cecilia held her back.

“Wait.”

“Not now?! I can’t stand it—I have to punch his face!”

Cecilia slipped her arm under Leah’s armpit and held her fast.

She hissed:

“If you go now, he’ll deny everything.”

Leah stopped.

Cecilia released her.

“So what? Are we just going to let this slide?!”

Leah’s fury was boiling over.

Her trust in her Master had shattered.

Even with just the women he’d touched, her head felt ready to explode.

Now… men too?

‘He didn’t just touch one. He touched them all.’

In Leah’s mind, Hans had become a monstrous lecher—unbound by gender.

“We need to capture Giovanni and interrogate him.”

“Huh? You want to make Giovanni confess?”

Cecilia nodded.

“Yes. Then Hans won’t be able to deny it!”

“Fine. Let’s find Giovanni right now.”

Leah and Cecilia questioned the servants and located Giovanni’s house.

A beautiful two-story home in Pisa, with orange-tiled roofing.

“Is this Giovanni’s house?”

Leah knocked loudly.

“Hello? Anyone home?”

THUD THUD!

A young voice called from inside:

—“I’m coming!”

Moments later, the door opened.

A black-haired beauty stood there.

“Oh? Who are you?”

Leah and Cecilia stared at each other.

“Is this Lord Giovanni’s house?”

“Yes. Shall I call him?”

The two women nodded.

The woman ushered them in and went to find Giovanni.

Moments later…

“Who’s here…? Huh?! Saint Cecilia?! Lady Leah?!”

Giovanni, caught off-guard during his vacation, looked as if he’d seen a demon.

“Wait—Saint?”

The woman stared at Cecilia in shock.

“Is she… really the Saint?!”

Giovanni, pale-faced, gave a tiny nod.

“Oh! I haven’t introduced myself. I’m Elise—Giovanni’s fiancée. Nice to meet you.”

Leah and Cecilia froze.

‘Wait… he’s not gay?’

‘Then why…?’

Confused, they stared at Giovanni—who looked terrified.

“W-what brings you here?”

‘Damn it. Did they come to cause trouble?’

Giovanni’s mind was already filled with images of these two as violent maniacs.

Leah was infamous.

Cecilia had threatened him recently.

Cecilia narrowed her eyes.

“Hm… why did you take a vacation?”

Elise, sensing the tension, took Giovanni’s hand and smiled sweetly.

“We’re getting married soon. We’ve been busy preparing. Did I cause any trouble for the Baron?”

Her smile was pure, radiant.

Cecilia felt dazzled.

‘Is that… not the case? Then why did he avoid us?’

The sight of the sweet, newly engaged couple made Leah realize:

‘What was I thinking?!’

She glared at Cecilia.

‘What the hell?! That’s not what you said!’

Ashamed of her own wild imagination, Leah groaned inwardly.

‘I trusted a lunatic…’

She shuddered—realizing she’d sunk to Cecilia’s level.

Cecilia, however, asked carefully:

“Ah, no, it’s nothing. We just came to visit after so long—and didn’t see him, so we were worried.”

“Oh! I’m so sorry to have troubled you!”

“Wow, thank you, Saint!”

Elise was thrilled—‘the Saint had come to her home!’

To her, it felt like a divine blessing.

“Well, dinner’s almost ready. Would you like to have dinner before you go?”

She was the one asking—but who cared?

For Elise, having a Saint visit her home was like heaven itself.
