Evading the Hero’s Party with Full Effort

Chapter 152

Chapter 152

Ch.152 Wouldn’t It Be Easier If All Four of You Just Disappeared?

After Cecilia left, Leah arrived.

Icira, who had just returned from the capital, appeared soon after—with Leah in tow.

“Master!”

Thump!

Leah threw herself at me, embracing me tightly after so long.

“It’s been so long!”

Watching her sparkling eyes, I gently ruffled her hair.

“You’ve been well?”

“Yes! Lately, there haven’t been many battles. I’ve been resting easy.”

Good to hear.

“I’m glad.”

She lifted her head slightly, studying me.

“What? Why that look? Don’t you want to see your master?”

Her eyes narrowed playfully.

“Huh? You’re my only disciple—why wouldn’t I want to see you?”

“Really? Are you sure you’re not lying?”

I chuckled.

“What’s there to lie about? Would a master really not want to see their disciple?”

At that, Leah hugged me again.

“You’d have to lie a few times before I’d believe you.”

She murmured under her breath.

“But… I did miss you a little.”

Leah was special to me.

Sure, her personality was obnoxious—but we’d lived together for years.

Our relationship? Think of it as family.

An older brother and his troublesome younger sister.

So yes, sometimes I worried.

Leah studied me closely.

“Hm… You did worry about your disciple, didn’t you?”

“Well, of course.”

I’d been afraid she’d burn down the imperial palace—or roast a commander’s head over a campfire.

Stories of her little ‘accidents’ occasionally reached me.

“Alright, then. Mia’s waiting. Let’s go.”

We gathered in Mia’s room for tea.

Just then, Ariah peeked through the door.

“Ahh? Ariah!”

Leah leapt up the moment she saw the petite, white-haired girl.

“Sister!”

Thump!

“It’s been so long!”

“Umm! Sister, it’s been forever!”

Ariah buried her face in Leah’s chest.

Leah was taller than Ariah, but still petite for a woman—so they looked almost like peers.

Leah looked down at the tiny dragon in her arms—and smiled wickedly.

“Dispel!”

“Eeek?”

Ariah transformed from a human girl into her hatchling form—scaled, plump, and undeniably adorable.

“Sister! If you undo my spell, what then?!”

“Hehe!”

Leah ignored Ariah’s protests, pulling her closer.

“Eek! Let go! I can’t breathe!”

Ariah flailed her forelimbs, trying to escape—but Leah held her tight with a mischievous chuckle.

“Hehe… Do you really think I’ll let you go?”

“Eek! Hiiii!”

No matter how hard Ariah struggled, she couldn’t break free.

“Enough. Come sit and drink tea.”

Soon, we sat around the table, sipping tea.

Of course, Ariah remained in hatchling form, perched on Leah’s lap with an expression of deep resentment.

“Wait—Master, you didn’t used to drink tea, did you? Why now?”

Mia answered for me.

“He’s been having trouble sleeping at night. Stress, I think. So he switched to calming herbal tea.”

Leah frowned.

“Huh?”

What was that about?

I felt a twinge of guilt.

“The tea tastes bad…”

Ariah pouted, clearly unimpressed.

“Even if she’s older than us, a hatchling of a thousand years still lacks the maturity to appreciate tea’s depth.”

Mia’s remark—though logical—seemed to strike a nerve.

“N-no! Ariah’s not little!”

Ariah protested, voice tinged with irritation.

But Mia merely shrugged.

“In dragon terms, a thousand years is roughly equivalent to ten human years. Even dragons can be emotionally immature.”

“No! Ariah’s grown up!”

She insisted—but honestly? She still looked like a toddler.

…Wait. When did a 1,000-year-old dragon start referring to herself in the third person like a child?

Frustrated, Ariah puffed up her tail.

Leah, of course, found it adorable.

She squeezed Ariah’s round belly tightly.

“Eek! S-s-stop! Can’t breathe!”

“Are you upset because I called you little? Ariah? Goo goo! So cute!”

“I’m not little! Ariah’s old!”

Ariah shoved at Leah’s arms—but Leah didn’t budge.

In fact, she pressed her cheek against Ariah’s head.

“So cute!”

“I’m not cute! Why do you keep saying that?!”

For a long while, Ariah thrashed in Leah’s grasp.

“Hah… hah…”

Finally, exhausted, she collapsed like a puppet with its strings cut.

“Hehe… Already tired? I’m not even winded.”

…How does Leah enjoy this so much?

“Hiiing… Brother… help me…”

Ariah looked up at me with tear-filled eyes—like someone rescued from a disaster.

“Why don’t you come to me instead?”

She glanced between me and Leah.

Then, as if deciding, she wiggled her tail and squeaked to Leah:

“Umm! Ariah wants to go with Brother Hans!”

Leah’s face darkened.

“Master! Don’t steal my Ariah!”

“You’re the one who keeps tormenting her. She clearly doesn’t like it—why do you keep doing it?”

“Torment? I adore her!”

I pointed at Ariah.

“Eek! Hiiii!”

Still wriggling in Leah’s grip, her white scales had turned slightly pink from exertion.

“Let her go.”

Seeing Ariah’s scales flush, Leah reluctantly loosened her hold.

Plop.

Ariah landed neatly on all fours and scurried toward me, arms outstretched.

“Brother… Hiiing… Sister Leah was so mean!”

Her big, watery eyes pleaded like a child wronged.

I picked her up and settled her on my lap.

She was heavier than she looked.

“Hii…”

She wrapped her forelimbs around me.

I patted her back and feigned scolding Leah.

“Didn’t I tell you not to torment Ariah? Why do you keep bothering her?”

But Leah treated my words like dust.

“Hmph! We haven’t seen each other in months, and you’re just nagging?”

“If you didn’t torment her, you wouldn’t need to be nagged.”

Leah glanced at Ariah.

“I’m tormenting her? I’m just showing affection!”

“Sister is mean!”

Ariah pouted.

“Eh? I stopped because you didn’t like it!”

“Hmph!”

Ariah turned her head away.

Leah tickled her back.

“Fine, fine. I won’t tease you anymore. Come here. I’ll give you something tasty.”

Ariah’s head slowly turned.

“Tasty…?”

Her voice lost its pout. The transition was so sudden, I wondered if her mental age was truly only ten.

“Look!”

Leah pulled out treats from her spatial bag.

“This is a chibbly donut—super chewy. And this is a crepe cake—incredibly delicious!”

Ariah’s tail began wagging wildly as she turned fully toward Leah.

“Want some?”

Ariah stared blankly.

“…I want to eat.”

“Then come here.”

Before the words finished, Ariah was already nestled in Leah’s arms.

***

That night.

I was just about to sleep.

Tap-tap.

I knew who it was.

Cecilia had done the same.

“Who is it?”

—Master! It’s me!

Leah’s voice from the other side of the door.

Do these girls have some kind of pact? Why do they keep coming to my room at night?

I opened the door.

Leah stood there in her nightclothes, pillow in hand.

“Hehe! Let’s sleep together again!”

Her grin was shameless.

“How old are you? Still can’t sleep alone?”

“Huh? Is it strange for a disciple to sleep with her master?”

She glared at me.

“You’re an adult now.”

“But we used to share a room just a few months ago!”

She countered stubbornly.

“That was only temporary, on the New Continent. I don’t even have nightmares anymore! Whee!”

“Seriously.”

She shoved past me into the room, placing her pillow beside mine.

“Come on, lie down.”

“Ugh… fine.”

I turned off the candle.

Darkness settled.

Silence.

I closed my eyes, drifting toward sleep—

Then Leah’s voice broke through.

“Master… do you really like Cecilia so much?”

“Huh?”

Too drowsy. Did I hallucinate?

Who likes whom?

“I said… do you like Cecilia?”

Her tone carried irritation.

I let out a half-laugh.

“Heh…”

“You said she gave you an expensive doll, stayed up all night talking, and slept with you?”

I didn’t know how to respond.

The doll? She liked them. That’s all.

Cecilia and I were close—not romantically, but as longtime friends.

And now, we were practically teammates, all of us fighting to stop the King of the Dead.

The doll was a small token of appreciation.

I began organizing my thoughts to explain—

Then Leah said:

“If you like Cecilia that much… I won’t object to making her your concubine.”

“…What?”

What kind of bizarre nonsense is this?

“Ugh. You’re such a bumbling idiot. The primary wife has to endure.”

‘Primary wife?’

You’re the primary wife? And Cecilia’s the concubine?

My sleep vanished.

What the hell kind of situation is this?

Leah’s words were horrifying to imagine.

Sure, she was beautiful—but a harem of this combination?

One was a serial arsonist. The other, a yandere.

“I… what are you even saying—”

Before I could finish, Leah pressed her fingers to my lips.

“Shhh. Cecilia and I have already made an agreement.”

“…What? What agreement?”

Her silhouette turned slightly.

“We… agreed not to fight. To get along. And… you too, of course.”

What kind of nonsense is this?!

What about my opinion?! Did you even ask me?!

I don’t want to live with either of them!

Leah and Cecilia were bitter rivals.

If they lived under the same roof with me?

I guarantee: once a week, the house would be destroyed.

And now they’re telling me they’ve agreed to live with me?

Who the hell authorized this?

Panic surged.

I forced myself to calm down.

“…What about my opinion?”

“Huh? Master… are you also eyeing Scarlett and Mia?”

Wait—so you’re asking if I want to live with two lunatics? Or four?

Just… wouldn’t it be easier if all four of you just disappeared?
