Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Ch.10 There’s Someone Here!
Deeply shocked, Cecilia left the trading company.
Hearing that her lover, Priest Hans, had departed for the New Continent, her shoulders slumped helplessly.
“Ah… why did he suddenly…”
Thinking of Priest Hans, who had left without a word to her, Cecilia’s eyes grew moist.
Seeing this, a holy knight spoke to Cecilia.
“Your Holiness, Priest Hans must certainly have had some urgent matter.”
“Lord Eric…”
“I’ve met Priest Hans before. Such an upright young man is rare in this day and age.”
Eric, who had met Hans—a novice priest possessing immense divine power and steadfast eyes—couldn’t help but admire him.
Moreover, Hans had a nature that couldn’t bear to see pitiful people suffer and always gave generously.
Eric held Hans in such high regard that he believed, had Hans formally devoted himself to the church, he could have aimed for the rank of cardinal or even pope in his later years.
“Though the Demon King is gone, the situation in the New Continent is likely not good. He must have gone there to aid those vulnerable people.”
The New Continent was filled with countless monsters.
Unlike demons or demonic creatures weak to divine power, it overflowed with massive monsters like ogres and trolls, as well as ferocious beasts never seen before.
Though it had been under development for 200 years, it remained a harsh region. Cut off from the Old Continent due to the Demon King, its people were undoubtedly suffering.
“Perhaps… that’s right?”
Cecilia, wiping her tears, said,
“He is a more sacred person than I am—he must have gone for that reason.”
Cecilia, who couldn’t even conceive that he had fled to the New Continent to escape her, was far too pure.
And the Hans she awaited so desperately…

“Phew…”
After swimming for a long time, I finally reached the island where the Phoenix Egg was located.
“Hah… hah… I don’t have the strength to move even a finger.”
I lay my body down on the white sandy beach.
As I felt the salty, unpleasant taste filling my mouth…
“Master, why didn’t you use the Fly spell?”
Looking at me with puzzled eyes, Leah, I waved my hand dismissively.
“Hah… hah… don’t… don’t talk to me right now.”
She had calmly flown over using the Fly spell herself.
If she called me ‘Master’, shouldn’t she have cast the Fly spell on me too?
What a disrespectful disciple.
Cursing her internally, I rolled over.
“Ba… Baron! Didn’t I tell you the sea was still dangerous?”
One of the crew members, upset by the situation, pointed at me, soaked and looking miserable in seawater…
“How dare you speak to Master like that?!”
Offended by the crew member’s words, Leah glared sharply.
“Eeek!”
Feeling sorry for the crew member trembling under the gaze of the ill-tempered mage, I stepped in.
“Ahem… Leah, don’t be too harsh.”
In truth, I had given them quite a large sum of money since they had all refused to go into the sea.
“Master! These people—”
Seeing Leah about to say something, I forced myself to sit up.
“I told them to come. Leave it.”
As I defended the crew, I turned my gaze away from Leah, who bit her lip in frustration.
A tall structure carved from black stone.
Looking at the bird perched atop it, I thought,
So this really is the place with the Phoenix Egg.
In the Destiny world, various pets exist.
From mounts like horses and donkeys to combat-assisting pets like dogs and wolves, many pets are available.
Among them, the phoenix is a top-tier pet—it can be ridden, aids in combat, and possesses support abilities.
Since I’m here, I might as well obtain the phoenix.
Even if I get the phoenix, it won’t be a profitable deal.
“Sigh…”
The ship sank, and I lost many concept artifacts and my notebook recording game settings.
Since I remembered most of the game in my head, that wasn’t a problem.
But the concept artifacts were now submerged in the sea.
It was better than having them scattered around the world causing danger, but I couldn’t help feeling regret.
Well… nothing can be done about it.
There’s a concept artifact in the New Continent called the ‘Trident of the Sea God’.
With that, I can freely move underwater.
I’ll retrieve them then.
As I thought this, the crew fell into despair.
“But captain, what are we supposed to do?”
“Are we all going to die like this?”
“I don’t want to die like this! I haven’t even gotten married—it’s too tragic!”
Seeing the crew gathered together, voicing their gloom, I said,
“This is a well-known sea route—just send a distress signal to passing ships.”
In fact, when I previously played with a pirate concept,
I remembered hiding here and plundering ships.
“Captain? Since there’s plenty of wood on the island, go chop some firewood to build a fire. Leah, you’re coming with me.”
At my words, question marks appeared on Leah’s face.
“Where are we going?”
“To the center of the island.”
There should be a dungeon leading underground there.
“Why there?”
If I told her there was a dungeon on an island she was visiting for the first time, she’d think I was crazy, so I made up an excuse.
“We don’t know how long we’ll be here—might as well scout the terrain.”
At my half-hearted excuse, Leah reluctantly nodded.
“Alright.”
Thus, together with her, I pushed through the underbrush toward the island’s center.
“The island is bigger than I thought?”
Looking at the densely grown trees, Leah wore a curious expression, and I nodded.
“Right? Hey, isn’t that a banana?”
Bananas hung heavily from a tall tree.
“Huh? Really?”
Leah lightly waved her hand, and the bananas fell from the tree.
—Thud!
Catching the falling bananas with magic, Leah peeled one and handed it to me.
“Hehe, Master, have a bite.”
A fragrant banana scent wafted over. I began peeling the skin.
“Seems ripe?”
As I took a bite, the sweet banana flavor filled my mouth.
“Mmm~! Delicious.”
Leah smiled brightly.
She’s cute. If she always acted like this, she’d be like a little sister.
It was astonishing that such a ferocious demon lurked behind that cheerful face.
Truly, a woman is not defined by her face alone.
Thinking this, I continued toward the island’s center.
Looking around, Leah seemed to notice something odd and made a strange expression.
“But the atmosphere is completely different here?”
“What is?”
She must have noticed the tall palm trees.
“The leaves are different, and the shape of the trees too…”
“It’s tropical.”
The climate of the Old Continent was mild and humid, with an oceanic climate.
But this place was close to the New Continent. The New Continent had a tropical climate, similar to Southeast Asia, where I originally lived.
“What’s ‘tropical’?”
Hard to explain. I ignored Leah’s question and chewed on the banana.
“There’s… there’s a well.”
As I hastily tried to brush it off…
“Huh? Master, I see something strange over there!”
Looking where she pointed…
I saw a large, carved totem pole.
“Ah?”
Found it.
Generally, totem poles are made with a thin, tall upper part for birds to perch on, but…this was more accurately described as a totem-shaped structure.
A large iron door carved into the pillar.
Leah looked around the totem-shaped structure, which appeared to be about 10 meters tall.
“What is that?”
“Who knows?”
I knew the reason the Phoenix Egg was here was that, long ago, a civilization that worshipped the phoenix as a god had existed here.
Standing before the totem, we thought,
“It’s strange. Such a structure in the middle of an uninhabited island.”
“Shall we go in?”
As I said this and pushed the iron door, it opened.
Looking at the stairs leading underground in the dark interior, I said,
“There are stairs leading underground.”
“Seems so.”
Since I had frequently visited this place in the game, I felt no excitement and entered the building.
“Master, come with me.”
Thus, together with Leah, I descended the underground stairs into the deep darkness.
“Light Ball.”
I chanted the incantation.
The Venian Ring on my hand cast the spell, creating spheres of light that illuminated the dark stairs.
Descending to the first underground floor,
I looked at the narrow, cave-like passage and thought,
The first floor was a maze, right?
I remembered there were no threatening monsters on the first floor.
Thus, I walked quickly down the passage.
“Why was this structure built?”
“I’m not sure, but there must be something here.”
How long had we walked? A fork in the path appeared.
“Which way should we go?”
In the Destiny game, dungeons were randomly generated at the moment of creation.
The path of a dungeon visited for the first time was unknowable.
Thus, veterans usually explored dungeons by turning left.
“Left.”
Generally, exploring counterclockwise increased the probability of quickly descending to lower floors. I didn’t know why—perhaps the developers preferred the left side.
Leah and I began exploring the dungeon, starting with the left path.

The moment Hans and Leah began exploring the dungeon, the crew and captain watched as the sun slowly set.
Beside them, fish roasted golden-brown over a large bonfire.
“Captain, what’s going to happen to us?”
The crew and captain, stranded on the uninhabited island, were deeply dissatisfied.
Though they had been paid a large sum, no one would be happy about their ship sinking and being stranded in the middle of an uninhabited island.
“Damn it… if only he weren’t a noble. For now, there’s fresh water and fruit inside the island, and fish in the sea—we’ll have to survive on that.”
At that moment…
“Huh? A ship!”
One of the crew members shouted loudly, pointing at the sea.
“Captain, I see a ship!”
One crew member lit a torch with dry wood and waved it vigorously, shouting,
“Save us!”
Seeing this, the other crew members followed suit, shouting,
“People here!”
The ship, noticing them, turned toward the uninhabited island. The crew began shedding tears of relief.
