Chapter 360 - 353: A Huge Mess of Dog Blood X
Cheng Shishi said she’d never been to Ming Xuan and wanted to experience the kind of wealth and extravagance there. Bai Yiran couldn’t refuse her, so she took her there.
They only had two adults and a child, so sitting at a table in the hall was enough.
Cheng Shishi chose a seat by the window, though Bai Yiran didn’t really enjoy eating by the window, always feeling like it was for show and not as satisfying for someone who loves food like her.
They ordered a few simple dishes, and Ming Xuan’s service was quick, though the portions were small.
The meal in the private room ended, and Leng Liewei was ushered out by a group of people, looking reluctant and clearly not very happy.
Sitting by the window, Bai Yiran and others immediately caught Leng Liewei’s eye.
"Huh? Uncle Leng, isn’t that Yiran over there?" Qi Hui looked surprised, "I didn’t expect her to be eating here too."
Leng Liewei glanced sideways at Bai Yiran sitting there chatting and laughing, snorted coldly, and left Ming Xuan with a chill.
Watching Leng Liewei’s back as he left, Qi Hui pursed her lips and giggled silently.
In the car on the way back, Old Qi was driving while asking Qi Hui, who was looking down at her phone, "You were acting a bit strange at the table today."
"Hmm? What do you mean, strange?" Qi Hui asked without looking up.
"You were clearly trying to stir up trouble between Old Leng and his daughter-in-law. Others might not notice, but I’m your father, and I can tell."
"Fine, you noticed then. It’s already been said anyway." Qi Hui swiped her phone with a determined look in her eyes.
"I brought you here today to pave the way for your future work at Huamei, not to sow discord. Xiao Hui, how could you do that? Tell me, what were you thinking?" Old Qi, being an upright man, never indulged in such petty issues. Qi Hui was his daughter, his pride, and he expected her to be just like him.
"Dad, even if you laid out a longer path for me, it’s still not as quick as becoming a member of the Leng Family, right?" Qi Hui openly revealed what she was thinking.
Old Qi was taken aback, and his face turned sour, "Xiao Hui, have you lost your mind? What are you saying! How do you plan to become a member of the Leng Family? Who are you planning to marry!"
"Who else could it be?" Qi Hui replied nonchalantly, "Of course, it’s Leng Yichen. Who else could I marry into the Leng Family?"
Old Qi’s face turned beet red. He slammed on the brakes, pulling the car to the side of the road, and glared at Qi Hui with fiery eyes, "Leng Yichen is a married man! Are you planning to ruin their marriage? Qi Hui, our Old Qi Family has always been honorable. I won’t allow you to do something so disgraceful!"
Qi Hui finally put down her phone and stared wide-eyed at her father, "How is that disgraceful! Leng Yichen and I have known each other since we were young, way before Bai Yiran came along! What can a woman like Bai Yiran, with no background, no ability, and no brains, bring to Leng Yichen? She doesn’t deserve Leng Yichen, doesn’t deserve to be the President’s wife of Huamei International!"
"So you’re saying you deserve it? Xiao Hui, listen to me. Being a wife in a wealthy family isn’t as easy as you think. I don’t ask for you to be immensely wealthy, just to live comfortably."
Despite Old Qi’s earnest advice, Qi Hui didn’t take any of it in. She was determined to continue down this path! During the year and more of Leng Yichen’s and Bai Yiran’s divorce, she made countless efforts but never received any response from him. Now that Leng Liewei was back, why shouldn’t she seize this opportunity?
"Dad, I’m almost thirty. I’ve been working hard and staying single for what reason? You don’t actually think I’m one of those career women who sacrifice love for her job, do you? You’re wrong, I’m doing this for Leng Yichen!" Qi Hui opened the door and got out of the car, "Even if you don’t understand, there’s nothing I can do. I have to do this!"
Qi Hui closed the car door and got into a taxi, leaving.
