Chapter 1099 - 1004: Evil Divine Battlefield
Chapter 1099 - 1004: Evil Divine Battlefield
Ultimately, the Divine Battlefield became one of the Life Forbidden Lands on the Ancient Emperor Continent. Even the three major clans—the Human Clan, Demon Race, and Beast Clan—steered clear and never truly approached it, which speaks volumes.
"Someone is there!"
Ye Chen and the others were slightly startled. From thousands of miles away, their remarkable vision allowed them to see over a dozen figures standing in the depths, as majestic as mountains. They were clad in ancient war armor, wielding ancient Daoist Soldiers, all very ancient.
"What is this? Could it be that someone remains undying in the Divine Battlefield, or has a corpse achieved spirit communication?" the Goddess speculated, knowing well that some powerful beings, after death, do not transform. For various special reasons, they might achieve spirit communication, giving birth to a new spiritual sense, thus becoming a new lifeform.
Of course, such a spirit-communicated lifeform is essentially a new being, with a Primordial Spirit long detached from the original life.
Yii Wu furrowed her brows and said, "If that’s the case, it could be troublesome."
The so-called trouble lies in that the beings buried in the Divine Battlefield were extraordinary. Particularly those with bodies that do not decay were surely formidable in life, possibly at the Absolute Peak of the Saintly Treasure, perhaps even at Reincarnation-level or as Heavenly Kings.
Ye Chen opened the Heavenly Eye, emitting a radiant light that pierced through all illusions, and said, "Indeed, these are spirits communicated from corpses, which can be called Netherworld Soldiers."
Boom—
Heaven and Earth quaked as the dozen or so spirit-communicated, fearsome Netherworld Soldiers suddenly charged toward Ye Chen and his companions, causing a commotion in Heaven and Earth.
These Netherworld Soldiers were powerful beings resurrected through spirit communication after death, wielding immense bloodthirsty energy.
Especially with the Saintly Body Blood Qi Ye Chen constantly released to drive away the Blood Shadow, he became a prominent target.
Buzz—
One of the Netherworld Soldiers, clad in ancient battle armor, swung a broken ancient war spear, cleaving the air and causing the vast heavens to tremble and tear.
Boom—
The Human Emperor Tower always cascaded chaos ancient energy, thousands of strands that could crush mountains and rivers, effectively countering the attack without being thrown back.
Meanwhile, the other dozen Netherworld Soldiers also attacked, wielding their ancient weapons and obliterating that part of Heaven and Earth.
Yet, the Emperor Tower remained indestructible, and their attacks could not breach its defenses, especially with Ye Chen’s command, rendering even a Heavenly King ineffective.
"Hmm?"
Suddenly, Ye Chen was surprised because he sensed that these Netherworld Soldiers lacked life force, with infinite death energy accumulating within them. Their power was formidable, but they seemingly did not understand the Daoist Law, relying only on brute force.
This discovery made Ye Chen’s eyes narrow slightly in suspicion, believing these so-called Netherworld Soldiers were newly awakened, lacking an adequately powerful Primordial Spirit, and were merely physically powerful.
If this place could indeed produce such spirit-communicated Netherworld Soldiers, there must be something amiss.
"You all stay inside the Emperor Tower; I’ll handle this."
Ye Chen stepped out from the Emperor Tower’s defensive perimeter, his Holy Body Golden Body radiating boundless golden radiance, his blood qi like a prison, confronting one of the ancient Netherworld Soldiers head-on.
Without utilizing the Daoist Law, he punched directly, pouring forth an overwhelming torrent of golden blood qi, colliding with the opponent’s war spear and causing chaos in the heavens, shaking the Divine Battlefield.
Boom—
The ground caved in tens of thousands of miles, but Ye Chen remained immovable as a mountain. In contrast, his opponent was sent flying, the war spear shattered, and the ancient Netherworld Soldier emitted a shrill scream. Black mist rose, corroding the void and noticeably weakening its aura.
Netherworld Soldiers achieve spirit communication, naturally filled with evil, while Ye Chen’s Combat Saint Body, being supremely indomitable, became the perfect countermeasure against such Netherworld Soldiers.
Swish, swish, swish—
The other dozen or so powerful beings abandoned their assault on the Emperor Tower, targeting Ye Chen with ferocious, formidable attacks, penetrating the void.
Clang—
The Immortal Saint Body of Ye Chen withstood the attacks from these ancient Netherworld Soldiers. Though they fractured the sky and shattered the heavens, only metallic clashing sounds ensued, sparking bursts, unable to harm his Golden Body.
Ye Chen sealed his own Dao, relying solely on his Invincible Saint Body, his hand blade slicing through, cleaving heaven and earth, while unleashing abyssal, prison-like golden blood qi, sending the ancient Netherworld Soldiers flying, releasing hiss of black corpse mist amid screams.
He swiftly captured one of the ancient Netherworld Soldiers.
Exercising extraordinary means, he restrained this ancient Netherworld Soldier, bringing it close for examination. Its entire body was encased in ancient, mottled battle armor, the flesh pale and bloodless, exuding an icy chill.
The armor was very ancient, its era unknown, bearing the marks of time, with countless battle scars turning into cracks.
Boom—
Ye Chen prepared to investigate further, yet the black battle armor on the ancient Netherworld Soldier cracked, releasing strands of black corpse mist, disintegrating into dust.
This made Ye Chen frown as he directly knocked off the ancient Netherworld Soldier’s helmet, revealing a pallid face, gray-white hair scattered, death aura overwhelmingly dense.
It appeared to be a man of forty to fifty, motionless, as though a death effigy after Ye Chen sealed it, showing no struggle.
Ye Chen attempted to extract an imprint from its brow to understand how they were born, but as the death qi intensified, the man emitted dark light, as though igniting, rapidly turning to dust.
Even Ye Chen couldn’t prevent it, the dark light burning from the inside out.
Even when apprehending other ancient Netherworld Soldiers, the outcome remained the same, their spiritual senses preemptively destroyed, leaving Ye Chen with no useful information.
Ye Chen frowned intensely, sensing an unsettling mystery unfolding, very complex.
He couldn’t make sense of it at the moment.
These Netherworld Soldiers, once powerful beings, at least at the Absolute Peak of the Saintly Treasure, retained indestructible bodies. Yet, their spirit communication left only a formidable, battered war body, with a pitifully weak Primordial Spirit, little more than bewildered instincts and slaughter-driven spiritual sense, posing no threat to Ye Chen.
Unable to extract any useful information, Ye Chen exerted himself, straightforwardly obliterating all the ancient Netherworld Soldiers.
The group continued their journey toward the unfathomably vast battlefield’s deepest region, resembling a continent, endless and boundless.
Though said to span millions of miles, it was even vaster.
Ye Chen understood that when the once Overlord Great Power perished, the Internal Heaven and Earth he created were shattered, and the fragments combined with the Divine Battlefield, transforming into a vast miniature world unlike any other.
After advancing tens of thousands of miles, Ye Chen opened the Heavenly Eye, and as he probed deeper, changes unfolded—the desolation was the same, yet it was gloomier, shrouded in bands of black mist, eerily quiet and sinister.
They proceeded with caution, knowing that even one as strong as Ye Chen couldn’t be careless in such perilous lands. He led the three women into a world more terrifying than the previous tombs on the plain, as far as the eye could see, there were remnants and skeletal remains, some turned to stone with the passage of time, creating a vast sea of bones.
Of course, not all of them were Divine, as many referred to as gods were Saints participating in the battle. Even more were not Saints, but fearsome assembled legions of the Divine, participating in the grand war.
And then, as Ye Chen proceeded many miles deeper, a transformation occurred, with the same desolation and dimness, shrouded in ribbons of black mist, eerie and sinister.
Their vigilance heightened, and although Ye Chen was strong, he was never truly careless in such a perilous land. With the three women, he ventured straight into a plain more dreadful than the previous tombs. Everywhere they looked, there were corpses, many turned to stone, forming a frightening sea of bones a testament to the age-defying destructive power of a war that engulfed the vast Divine Battlefield.
Though not all were Divine, a significant portion were Saints, also known as Divine Beings, who participated in the great war with formidable legions gathered by the gods.
Suddenly, a sweeping sound tore through the Six Harmonies and Eight Desolates, sending tremors throughout the vast Divine Battlefield.
Ye Chen’s eyes grew sharp, for in the distant horizon appeared an unbelievable scene.
