Eternal Freedom's Ascension

Chapter 246: Winning Strategy

Chapter 246: Winning Strategy

Hazel addressed the class calmly, then got to the crux of their discussion.

"We need a Winning Strategy for this evaluation. Two main questions we need an answer for."

"How do we defend against Class-C’s assault?"

"How do we successfully take away Class-A’s flagpole?"

She paused, letting the silence simmer, then continued.

"The first question is simple. Defend with our strongest members. That is the only way."

Everyone unconsciously looked at Sebastian and Kaiser. Hazel pretended not to notice and continued.

"The second question is simple too. Attack with our most subtle members."

This time, everyone looked around in confusion. Most subtle? What did she mean by that?

Hazel explained. "We can’t snatch Class-A’s flagpole by force. Do not expect that. Our only chance is sneaking in and taking out the flagpole without them being aware."

"Eh?" Ysabella gasped, her green eyes clouded with worry. "Is that... possible? I mean, they’ll surely be surrounding the flag."

Hazel nodded, briefly glancing at the blonde girl.

"The only major problem we could have on that end is leaving successfully. That is why we need a decoy."

Liam’s eyes lit up. "A decoy? To distract them from the ones taking the flag and focusing their aggro on us. Brilliant!"

Hazel didn’t smile. She continued.

"Liam is right. Naturally, the decoy must be strong too, lest we get repelled easily."

Several others nodded in agreement with her.

"Have you... decided who to assign to each role?" Astron asked, his expression serious.

"Naturally, I have a few candidates in mind, but not all."

"Still, you can share it with us. We should quickly decide that and make sub-team plans ahead of time."

"Alright." Hazel nodded, then turned to Sebastian.

"Sebastian will be one of our main defenders, along with Liam, Ysabella, and Astron."

"The ones responsible for taking Class-A’s flagpole would be Ariel, Mordica, and a few others who are good in stealth."

Mordica turned to her sharply, but backed down when she felt a gaze on her from behind.

Hazel was surprised to see her not argue. Although she had spoken with Sebastian and made a deal with him, she hadn’t spoken with Mordica yet.

Therefore, she had already cooked up a countermeasure in her mind. However, it all turned out to not be needed.

"As for the decoy team, it will include I myself, Kaiser, Logan, Kiera, and Charles."

The chubby boy was surprised that his name was called, not expecting that at all.

Hazel’s gaze didn’t give him a chance to talk.

"That’s all I have ready. You can present your addition or adjustments later."

Liam nodded, "Your distribution is already okay. We just need to add a few more people, and we’re good to go."

Suddenly, Mordica spoke up. "If you’re going to make any more addition, do not bring it to my section. Ariel alone is what I can tolerate."

Several lips twitched at her brazenness but Liam smiled and agreed.

"Alright. But this is going to be a dangerous mission. Are you sure you can handle it with just you two? Hazel, what do you think?"

To Liam’s surprise, Hazel actually nodded.

"The two of them would be enough. Let them do it."

After all, Ariel was there. That guy would surely be able to do the job alone. She had only added Mordica so that he wouldn’t be in the spotlight.

"Alright." Liam sighed.

"As for the rest of the distribution, let’s start with..."

.........

The discussion continued for an hour before everything was finalized and everyone had been assigned with their roles.

Ten students would be attacking Class-A’s territory, while eighteen students would be defending Class-E’s territory. The remaining two were naturally the infiltrators.

With the rest of the day being free, Kaiser met up with Maya at the school library again.

The two of them sat together, and were enthusiastically chatting about mystery books as if their classes weren’t going to clash the next day.

"Hm? Naturally, I knew Alice was going to die. She had to. Else, the plot wouldn’t have progressed."

Kaiser argued reasonably.

"But..." Maya smiled bitterly. "She really shouldn’t have died. Besides, Elara had the help of other demons to kill Alice. It wasn’t a fair battle at all."

Kaiser nodded in agreement. "You are right. And that is the reason why the author made the main character shine after her death. Her death was a catalyst. Without it, the main character would always remain average."

She sighed, closing the book softly. "It is sad."

"Maya."

She froze. That voice that called her name... it wasn’t Kaiser. Instead, it was...

"Apollo?"

The purple-haired delinquent stood before the two of them with a cold expression, his eyes carrying a hint of disappointment and anger.

"Why are you here with our soon-to-be opponent?"

He asked calmly, his voice heavy.

Maya’s brows furrowed as she replied. "Isn’t it tomorrow? At least until then, we aren’t opponents yet."

Apollo’s gaze darkened, and he turned to Kaiser who had been ignoring his presence ever since he arrived.

"What do you think you’re doing here with my subordinate?"

He smiled, slowly placing his right hand on the table. The table creaked like it was going to break.

Kaiser gave the hand a glance. It froze, and the pressure being applied on the table disappeared.

"Subordinate? Hm, a pretty cool title."

He closed the book in his hand, finally raising his head to meet Apollo’s gaze.

He didn’t flinch.

"Currently, there is no opposition between our classes so your claims remain invalid. Kindly do yourself a favor and erase yourself from my sight."

Apollo chuckled, dark and brimming with anger.

"You’re really good, Kaiser. To be able to bring an intelligent strategist of my class under you. Isn’t that amazing?"

He pocketed his hands, his gaze turning cold as he glared at the Class-E student.

"If you think you can extract any information from her, then I’ll have to say you chose the wrong time."

"Maya, get up. We are leaving."

He didn’t turn to her, but his tone was authoritative and commanding.

Something flashed in Kaiser’s gaze, and his lips curled downward.

"And what if I say she’s not going anywhere?"
