Eternal Freedom's Ascension

Chapter 244: Healing Unlocked

Chapter 244: Healing Unlocked

Mordica ignored the dazing battle between Kaiser and the large serpent, facing the four—no, three humans that were attacking her.

She still hadn’t found the fourth attacker yet.

"Hone!"

A purple magic circle appeared before her hand, and a larger one manifested on the ground where the burly archer was standing.

Instantly, several black chains shot out, locking around his limbs and pulling taut.

The man resisted greatly, making the chains creak and groan like they were about to break.

Knowing she couldn’t delay any longer, Mordica immediately threw her dagger and used her ability.

The dagger shot through the air, streaking straight at the man’s heart like a homing missile.

The chain with an arrowhead appeared at the right moment, knocking the dagger away.

However, if the bounty hunters thought that was it, they were foolish.

The homing dagger immediately turned back, shooting straight at the bound man’s heart again.

This time, the chain didn’t intercept the arrow but helped the man snap one of the black chains, giving him a chance to dodge.

The dagger grazed his shoulder, then turned back again.

Finally unable to hide anymore, the chain user appeared and grabbed the dagger, struggling to keep it in place.

"Saber!"

She shouted, and the third bounty hunter finally moved. Knowing that the dagger couldn’t be acting on its own, they immediately targeted the source.

The man welding a sword dashed at Mordica, his steps quick and light.

A giant black spider intercepted him, striking with its sharp legs.

Instantly, Saber was repelled, temporarily caught up in a battle against the spider.

Mordica sighed in relief, returning her attention to the bound archer and the chain woman.

Holding her second dagger, she threw it straight at the woman, aiming for her heart too.

Already struggling to keep one dagger in place, the woman was shocked when there was suddenly another weapon coming straight at her.

"Damnit! Archer! Can’t you break free yet?!"

She roared furiously, and that roar seemed to be the motivation the burly man needed.

With a valiant roar even louder than her own, he snapped the chains and grabbed the second dagger, even pulling it back slightly.

Mordica’s eyes narrowed faintly.

’These guys... well, at least I have them stalled.’

She deactivated the binding formation and focused her attention on the two men.

Suddenly, her senses tingled. She immediately jumped to the side, but a blade still grazed her side.

"Assassin!"

The chain woman shouted in glee. It was only now that this fourth person arrived that Mordica remembered what Kaiser had said.

"There are actually five of them."

’Damnit!’

She cursed inwardly, feeling blood flow from the wound. In that brief moment of attack, her focus had been broken, and her ability was deactivated.

The daggers clattered to the ground.

Rolling his shoulders and stretching his arms, Archer picked up his bow and drew the string.

"Executioner."

He called out to the chain woman beside him, and she immediately shot out her chain straight at Mordica.

The girl reacted swiftly, hopping to the side. However, before she could even land, Archer’s arrow was already coming for her.

"Break!"

She stretched her hand forward, and a purple magic circle appeared before her, repelling the arrow before shattering.

Both parties were surprised. Archer couldn’t believe that her shield had deflected his arrow, while Mordica was shocked that the arrow was strong enough to destroy her shield.

However, she didn’t have much time to think too deeply. The assassin was coming for her again.

She was already wary of that figure, so when she moved, Mordica reacted appropriately.

She summoned a long rod relic, then threw it straight at the assassin.

Midway to its target, the rod suddenly became as big as a truck, barrelling into the unsuspecting lady.

"You!"

Archer was furious, immediately shooting a flurry of arrows at her.

Mordica stacked magic shields against one another, rendering his attack useless and unable to harm her.

However, it stalled her enough for Executioner to act.

The hooded lady dashed at Mordica, swinging her chain like a whip.

The girl didn’t bother grabbing it, as it’d be extremely foolish to do that especially when she could have a lightning affinity.

Another resounding explosion shook the space they were trapped in, and Mordica couldn’t help but look at the direction where Kaiser was fighting the giant serpent.

Their fight was so intense that she could only catch afterimages of them moving.

’How is he even fighting an Evolved? That guy...’

She immediately turned to the side when the Assassin who was supposed to be out cold or on death’s door suddenly appeard.

Mordica was startled, and her face turned slightly pale.

’These guys are really annoying me to death. I have no choice but to use that...’

Meanwhile, Kaiser exchanged several blows with the serpent, with no restraint. He blocked a hit from its gigantic serpent’s tail, forcing him to skid back by several meters.

When he stopped, the maw of the serpent was about to swallow him.

"You think you can?"

Kaiser chuckled, then suddenly punched forward.

His fist hit the large left fang in the serpent’s mouth, leaving several cracks running through it.

"Oh?"

Kaiser was surprised, looking at the damaged caused. He had used all his strength to throw that punch, yet all it could do was crack the fang a little.

He shook his wrist, speaking in a carefree manner. "Your fangs are sturdy, brother Vladimir."

Meanwhile, the serpent was fuming inside.

He was a Rank 1 Evolved like his brother! Why was he struggling to pin down a Rank 1 Awakened boy?

Studying the boy, it seemed there were some weaknesses to his fighting. Occasionally, he would wince as if he had heard the most unpleasant word in the universe.

’I’ll use the interruption to end the battle smoothly. This purple realm might collapse soon.’

Having that in mind, he continued to fight Kaiser, carefully waiting for the right opportunity.

Suddenly, after delivering a punch that made the serpent wince, Kaiser jumped back and held his head in pain.

Ignoring his own pain, the serpent flashed to his side and smacked him with his tail.

The hit landed cleanly, and Kaiser’s body was flung into the distance. The serpent immediately chased after him, aiming to finish him in one smooth bite.

’Finally! This mere brat can stop being arrogant!’

Suddenly, Kaiser vanished from his view, startling him.

Before he could react, something landed on his head—heavy.

Bang!

His head slammed into the ground, pinned down by the owner of that heavy weight.

As he struggled to raise his head, he suddenly saw Kaiser land right in front of him, looking injured but fine.

His movements weren’t hindered in the slightest at all.

"You... aren’t you in pain?"

Kaiser laughed, blood pouring from his lips. "Yes, I’m in pain, but what does that have to do with my state?"

The serpent stared at him with disgust, slowly raising its head and glaring at him.

"It appears you’re really more dangerous than I want to admit. Hmph! As expected of a ’Solace’! Don’t worry, I’ll let you live for now. I will reap your corpse later."

Suddenly, the purple realm disappeared, and Kaiser found himself in Mordica’s room again.

He checked his body. The injuries were still there, proving that it wasn’t an illusion.

"Really... huh..."

Turning around, he found Mordica on the ground, kneeling and bleeding from several cuts. However, in her hands were two hearts that she had claimed during the fight.

Kaiser walked over to her, his voice dripping with curiosity.

"You really managed to kill two of them. Not bad. How much more could you have killed by the way?"

Mordica raised her head and glared at him.

"Can’t you... see? I’m... injured. Help me... to the infirmary."

Kaiser shook his head, then crouched before her. "We probably wouldn’t be needing that."

She blinked, looking at him like he was a madman. Wouldn’t be needing that? What? They were supposed to wait until their natural healing kicked in and they would be healed in about ten days?

Kaiser ignored her expression and closed his eyes.

When he had been hit by the serpent’s tail, he had felt something in him crack, and a small gust of cold wind filled his whole body.

Now, he could feel that cold rapidly mending his injuries, even faster than before.

Tapping into that feeling again, he grabbed Mordica by her shoulders and transferred the cold to her.

He felt the girl his and shudder. "W-what are you doing to me?!"

Although her voice sounded weird, he didn’t pay much attention to it. Instead, he focused on letting the cold spread from his palms into her body, and mending her injuries.

Mordica gritted her teeth as she felt the biting cold from Kaiser’s palms. His hands were covered in pale blue flames that burned weakly, and she could feel her wounds mending at a speed that left her stunned.

However, the only thing that weirded her out was that the healing was too comfortable. Even though the cold was sharp and biting, it didn’t linger that hard. It was quickly replaced by warmth that made her skin flush.

By the time he removed his hands, her face was red, and her breathing was ragged.
