Chapter 966 - 965 - Slow Learners
Chapter 966 - 965 - Slow Learners
The 4 were still behind the weavings Lind had set up but the recent cultivation session had revealed their location as it had been far stronger than he anticipated.
There was a rather sturdy carriage of wood and steel pulled up by 2 horses that had sparks coming off of them as their hooves hit the stone road. He could not identify them on sight but the men with it all were of more concern.
They were 3 Heaven Realms with Sky Realms mixed in. A rather powerful group for the poor make of their clothes.
The shirts were heavily stained and the weapons were rusted over in spots. The lack of care was odd for their cultivation realm but he also noted a distinct lack of storage treasures save the peak Moon Tier that was driving the carriage.
"Find them! Someone just had a breakthrough and will be too unstable to fight back!" The rough voice was almost stereotypical with the words spoken but Lind was confused. A breakthrough?
Who would think that was a breakthrough?
He glanced at the women but they were just as confused. There was no tribulation so if it was a Soul Realm to a World Realm would make sense up to the Iron Tier but that was Immortal Qi.
Even the 2 Soul Realm girls had recognized the level of power he had pulled in.
"I found tracks! There are 4 of them!" That drew Lind's attention. He had thought they had covered all the marks they could leave on the road. He wondered how they could tell but pushed it aside as he confirmed there were no Immortals hiding in the carriage but he did sense something he had yet to encounter in the 2nd layer.
Demons!
"Wait here. I want to get a workout." He sounded certain but he summoned Qi into his fists before it raced over his body to add an extra layer of protection.
He walked through the weaving which stunned the men looking for them.
Before any orders were given, spears were thrown right at him but he quickly frowned as he felt no danger from them at all.
He only used his physical arms but easily caught 2 of them and deflected the rest. He examined the metal tips but there was no poison he could find, yet he felt Qi flow from the shaft and smirked.
"Trap formations, not a bad idea." The weapons were not just an attack but to catch the target as well. It was a good idea but much like the weapons, the formations were in barely working order.
Also, they were only in grade 4!
Using them against an Immortal was just idiotic!
The trap formations activated and he shredded them like they were paper! Strangely, the men did not seem deterred. They simply produced daggers and a few had bows!
They continued to attack but Lind realized he did not even have to move. It took them far too long to realize their attacks were useless.
"So I have to ask, are you just dull or have you never met an Immortal before?" The men around him had lanky hair that badly needed a bath. In fact he was tempted to summon a storm if he could but he doubted his Art would work the way he wanted.
"Immortal? Why would one of those arrogant pricks be on the road?!" The peak Moon Tier was revealed to be a large man with many scars and bald. He also was missing his left ear entirely which stood out to Lind.
The man should not be in such bad shape as a cultivator but all of them were in not good health. They did not feel like pill-created cultivators but the taint in their bodies was a great deal stronger than most.
Their auras were far lower than they should be, closer to the Iron and Gold Tier of the World realm.
He was seeing an extreme result before he slowly began to grasp the truth. In the current world, grade 4 formations were highly effective even against Heaven Realms!
"My business is my own and you interrupted my cultivation session." He tried to defuse the situation but he noticed the outer edges of the men still looking for his companions.
"Immortals do not care about us ants! They hop around through the Space Gates! Everyone knows that!" The bald leader seemed angry but Lind narrowed his eyes. The whip at the man's hip was grade 6!
It was also in far better shape than anything thus far revealed.
Still, of all weapons to use against him, a whip was the dumbest option. Shoti had been his earliest training partner on his path to cultivation and ever since they married he had faced her expertise.
Few could match her but the bald man blurred as the whip cracked were Lind had been standing.
The crowd of men froze as a massive dragon claw slammed their leader into the ground and splintered the front of the carriage at the same time.
Lind winced as he had not intended to do that!
His body was moving faster than he expected and his strength was a bit off too!
"Let's dispense with the facade. You are slavers." His words made all the men become grim but they did not run. They attacked! Still, they clearly were slow learners.
They started with their best attacks the first time and now expected a desperate attack to work?
He snorted his breath out and emerald flames washed over them like a wave! It was not complicated but it got the work done.
Still, it too did far more than intended. The poor horses got caught up in it when he tried to avoid them! The men also were thrown into the Law Binding like ragdolls!
No one died but it was a comedy of errors on both sides.
Lind retracted his limbs back to human form and quickly tied up all the slavers. He gathered their items and weapons but aside from their leader, they were all in very poor shape.
He dismissed the weavings and let the 3 women out.
"Are all slavers like this?" He looked at the 2 girls but they shook their heads.
"They are not slavers, they are bandits. They are going to a slave auction but it is likely some black market one. The roads are still needed even for them to move their merchandise." He sighed and nodded.
Criminals, either way, were his to deal with.
"Master, what is the law regarding this incident?" Delenn looked ice cold at the passed out men but looked to him.
"My authority has limits but given they attacked you, you alone can decide their fate. We have no capacity to turn them in either as I doubt anyone wants to deal with them." She glanced at the 2 girls and they nodded as the blood drained from their features.
Lind nodded but pushed it to the side as he moved to the back of the carriage and saw a rather decent seal applied to the back door. It was easily peak grade 6!
Still, to someone like him, it might as well have been unlocked. His fingers glowed as a weaving shredded the seal without issue.
The latch was then thrown aside and he saw something had made his face shift partially to dragon form!
Demon children! They were at most 10 or 12 years old! All of them were girls! They looked at him in terror as he calmed himself down.
"Sorcha and Belia, come here please." The 2 came running before blanching at what they saw.
"Lord Frey, demon villages are not inside any Law Binding in the Kingdom of Ogros. These had to come from either an external village or far to the south where demon powers reside." He nodded and examined the dark metal collars and manacles on the children.
He hated them but unlike anything he had yet seen, the artifacts were entirely untainted! They were pure high grade 7!
"These will be a problem." He could not break them as easily as he had other things. His Eyes saw the danger of breaking the formations. Any attempt to do so would kill the children but also if they went too far from the carriage, the same thing would happen.
He quickly returned to the leader but his storage treasures had nothing.
"These are just hired thugs. Someone far more powerful sent these children out." Delenn hit the nail on the head. She also examined the collars but frowned.
"You 2, does the Shandor Syndicate still exist?" Lind looked and saw both girls shiver before nodding. He looked to his Master and saw a dark look flash over her face. She then looked at him and became grim.
"These artifacts are keyed to an auctioneer or servant to accept them. They are made with weaving but tied to the soul of each child and the owner of the right soul as well. A double cipher key by soul resonance." Lind cocked his head to the side before a smile crossed his face.
Before anyone could react, emerald light lit up the inside of the carriage but Lind focused on how his soul felt compared to the weaving. He felt the quivering of each child but the silence held until his harmony began to hum.
A loud click was heard as the artifacts fell away! Shock flooded them all but Lind merely shrugged.
"I am the first 6 elemental, Master, to reach this place. No one understands how to protect against me yet." It was a lucky thing but he abused it. Harmonies were merged with the soul of a cultivator which meant even non-weaver 6 elementals could do the trick he just did!
"Gather up supplies and get the children healed up. We are leaving!" Lind secured the bandits and left a jade slip for whoever found them. He then waited until everyone was off the carriage before his hands glowed with Qi.
He Forged the carriage and all watched in awe as it became clean and covered by a cloth with an opening in the front and back! It became a comfortable ride in a moment!
The 2 horses were shifting nervously but they would never dare to disobey a dragon!
"We should not delay and get out of here!" Sorcha and Belia herded the little demons back into the much warmer wagon while Delenn and he took up the reins to continue west. A wagon would help a lot!
The mystery of who defeated the bandits would never be answered in the future but the hunt for the lost merchandise would bring trouble to Lind later. Still, he would never abandon children.
The growing group moved on and plans were made for when they reached the next major city. They needed information, a lot of it, and a better picture of where they could go to be safe in the dangerous world they were in!
