Chapter 964 - 963 - Political Power vs Real Power
Chapter 964 - 963 - Political Power vs Real Power
Lind did not even get to the meeting room when voices reached him.
The wooden building was not made of anything above grade 3 so there were no isolation wards or other basic functions. It was merely a larger building than a normal dwelling and had a built in communication jade.
"Your medallion is authentic but you had no right to impose your values on our Kingdom!" A man was speaking loudly which made the 2 girls shrink behind him. He turned but they did not elaborate on their reaction.
He slowed and listened as the man kept talking.
"I also take issue that you brought a beast into our kingdom without notification." He sighed as he rolled his eyes. It was going to be a long day.
He was about to approach the door when his instincts warned him to back off. He waved the girls back as the door was blown off its hinges.
A figure blurred by them but he did not need to make them out to know the owner of the previous voice was the likely person. They did not slow down either as they blew through the outer wall.
The wood fractured like glass and splinters flew in all directions that he prevent from striking the trio.
Steps were heard as Delenn emerged with a grim look on her face. She only glanced at them as she followed after the man she had sent flying.
"Her Highness shouldn't do that, right?" Sorcha spoke up but Lind smiled.
"It is not exactly wise but if you are worried about the village, I think the messenger, whoever they are, has not grasped the reality of the situation." The pair looked up at him confused but he smiled as they came out into the street.
They found a small crowd of strangers in fine uniforms looking shocked as a man in silken robes of silver and what had been some decorative jewelry was in a pile of broken wood, blood, and he suspected a few broken ribs.
The men around them were soldiers but they seemed torn between protecting their charge and not antagonizing the woman now looming over them all.
"Those are the Ogros elites! They only come with a noble!" Belia whispered so only he could hear but he scanned them.
The man in a pile was a Diamond Tier, just barely, but the soldiers were all at the Iron or Gold Tier at best.
Their foundations were very poor too. He found that odd as the villagers, while much weaker for the most part, had far better foundations. Why?
The noble he could understand as many nobles relied on pills to advance rather than hard work but soldiers were odd for that issue.
Could they be forcing their soldiers to advance at a faster pace than the current world allowed?
"H–how dare you?!" Surprisingly, the crumpled man got up and glared at Delenn. He had vibrantly blue eyes that stared daggers at her. He was almost amused at the stupidity of the man.
"Sigh, you are a bit slow, aren't you?" Her voice was not angry, just cold. He recognized it as the tone where she was beyond caring.
"You insult me?! You are just a vagrant noble! You have no power here!" Lind was confused as he turned to the girls but they did not seem to know what he was getting at either.
An aura washed over the street that Lind only protected the villagers from. The soldiers and noble were flattened into the stones of the street.
The creak of metal and bone was audible to Lind but he knew she was holding back.
"The King won't let this pass!" He heard several voices make that opinion but it seemed they still did not get the point.
"Master, if I may?" Lind played the role of servant but Delenn did not seem to appreciate it.
He simply smiled before she retracted her aura and he healed the idiots laying on the ground. His casual ability to do that reminded everyone of how powerful he was as well.
The soldiers looked at him in awe but the noble was completely disheveled. His dirty blonde hair was a mess with his face and robes covered in blood from his injuries flying through the walls.
"Before you speak again, you do understand you are only a World Realm, correct?" His question brought a kind of silence to the street. The man looked confused at him. It was like he could not comprehend the words.
Lind sighed before he let his aura flare at full strength.
He also let his elements dance around him in various forms just around his body. The power of that demonstration seemed to finally sink in.
"You may not like that we interfered but an Immortal royal found a crime in progress against your kingdom. Your village head was in league with powers opposed to your king. We sent all that information and kept the evidence. Yet, your first act is to complain and assert your authority." Lind was talking like he was handling a child.
It seemed like the noble forgot what he was talking to when he tried to throw around the weight of his position.
"But I am a noble of–" Lind narrowed his eyes as the fool tried to explain how important he was.
His vertically slit eyes seemed to bring fear to the man.
"Sigh, I prefer to be polite but you are making it difficult. I am a Crystal Tier Immortal as his her Highness. She is also from a Supreme Power. So tell me, where does that put us in relation to you?" The noble seemed to not grasp the implication but his soldiers all began sweating profusely.
They all knelt as one which made the noble look around in confusion until his eyes went wide.
"There we go! You understand now?" Lind's smile was not gentle but clear amusement. He noted Delenn had to turn away as her shoulders shook. The young girls looked even more shocked as the villagers quickly knelt as well.
"I will take it from here." Delenn got herself under control but then dragged the noble off like a bag of dirty laundry. Lind could only shake his head as he turned to the soldiers.
"I expect that meeting will take some time. Please, come with me." They bowed low to him and they followed him to the stables nearby to let their horses rest and recover.
The men were then taken to a few taverns but he made them swear to pay in full and to not cause issues. They all solemnly swore to Heaven and Earth to do so.
The pair of girls watched in shock as they left and made their way back but the shocks did not end there.
Then they got back to the gaping hole in the village heads' home and watched in shock as he closed his eyes.
He gathered up the solid pieces of wood he could find and then Forged repairs. It was nothing fantastical but he was able to repair both the holes and doors that were damaged.
He was unsure where the meeting was going on but he saw the girls trying to process what happened.
"Lord Frey, why are you not afraid of the King?" Lind smiled and led them back inside to a smaller room where a long table was covered by a simple white cloth. He summoned his tea set and poured cups for all 3 of them.
"How do you treat World Realms?" His question caught them off guard but both girls had an easy answer.
"They are powerful seniors and have to be obeyed if they give orders." Belia supplied the answer but then he smirked as he asked back.
"What if it was a World Realm from another power?" Both paused as they thought about it.
It was a simple problem on the face of it but inside the village it became complicated. One on one, a Soul Realm could do little to disobey any World Realm, but inside their village, only their superiors in the kingdom mattered.
"You see, nobles and even Elders of sects sometimes get lost in political power vs real power." The girls looked at him as they waited for him to elaborate but it was not complicated. He simply looked up and his emerald eyes became pools of implacable power.
"Is there anything anyone can do to us here? If her Highness and I chose to conquer you, who could stop us?" His words made it clear. No one. The girls had noticed that the issues plaguing everyone else did not seem to apply to the pair of Immortals.
Further, a single Immortal Art could level the entire village without effort!
"Real power does not need political power to manifest it. Real power is objective while political power is a bit of a farce. People accept the rules that a small group can impose their will on them in exchange for promises or rewards. It is overly simplistic, but the gist of it. What everyone forgets is that it only exists so long as the truly powerful allow it to." Lind saw they absorbed it but he was not done.
"Now, what would happen if the people decided they wanted their power to change?" The girls both seemed to understand his question but Sorcha looked confused while Belia quickly answered.
"They couldn't so long as the Sky Realm rules us!" He wanted to laugh but held back.
"Not quite. A single Sky Realm is indeed powerful but it does not change the fact that they are a single person. Again, it goes back to political power vs real power. If the support system behind a ruler decides the people are right or sees an opportunity, they will destroy political power in the face of another type of real power. The power of the masses." He expanded on it to educate them.
It was very simple as Lind was a living example of a being that could fight above his realm.
"So, her Highness Delenn has no interest in being bogged down in the political play the noble wants to do. She exercised her real power over him but he was a bit—slow." He brought it all back to what had occurred and the girls finally understood.
If an Immortal felt like it, they would concede the political stance but they only did so at their whim. The light of enlightenment came to them both as they became motivated to grow stronger. They wanted to control their own fate!
"Can we get that strong?!" They both spoke in unison and he shrugged.
"We can find out but it is largely up to you. I will help but first we need to resolve this issue and move on." Lind and Delenn needed more information but the village had very little specifics for them. They needed to head to a larger hub but Ogros Kingdom would only be a headache at the moment.
The trio continued to talk until a very irritated Delenn finally joined them.
"How that fool became a World Realm even with pills escapes me. I had to keep reminding him I am an Immortal 4 more times! The village is now under his control. We can leave." Lind smiled and packed up the tea.
The 4 already had most things packed up and just left. Truly powerful people could also wash their hands of trouble just that quickly. No one in the village even knew they were gone until the next few days passed!
The news of the 2 Immortals spread but of the pair, Delenn Fionan spread to several information brokers very quickly and requests for her location began to spring up everywhere! The journey of Lind and Delenn finally began as they headed west.
