Chapter 940 - 939 - 200 Years to Inherit
The Fiends had tried to attack and expand several times in the last 2 centuries since the massive assassination attempts.
The forces deployed were far more successful in containing them but the limits became clear quickly to both sides.
Shard Tiers were being lost faster than they could be replaced but the sheer number kept the issue at bay for the present.
Fiends had time, however, and seemed more interested in solidifying their power base to have an army of Immortal Fiends unlike anything they had before the Cataclysm.
The old records made it clear that not all Fiend powers had been allies so the issue had not been so cut and dried. Each local area had to deal with their own problems.
The very limited space reclaimed by the cultivators did not even make a drop in the bucket even after nearly 8000 years since the Celestial Fields was restored.
Wild forests had officially spread with manifested aether beasts and children being the vast majority in the Endless Plains.
It would all change as the density of Immortal Qi and Laws would prevent manifestation later.
The various powers slowly recovered but it would take millenia to recover Immortals that had been killed in numbers even the Celestial Fields could not nourish at the present moment.
The very few powers that came out relatively unscathed took the chance to expand their influence but one power remained unassailable.
The Frey Clan, despite being so remote from all current powers, had lost no one. Even in the battles to contain the Fiends afterwards, only injuries were incurred. It shook many powers that had established themselves from areas in the Heaven Realm lands that had no reference previously.
The 6 elementals in the mortal realms already benefited from the new elemental theories they learned of but seeing the other side of those results made investments of resources massively shift.
In all of that time, news of the new heir had been revealed. Abigail Frey had come out on top. A human line of Lysanna Frey but had awakened Lind's dragon bloodline in her body!
Such news had mixed results. Their allies were more than satisfied to know the future was secure as Lind was no doubt directly teaching her while others shivered to know a dragon would once more be in power over such a powerful Clan of mixed blood.
Demons from all powers felt the itch to challenge them until their leaders reminded them that Lind Frey could react if they pushed his heir too far. Honest challenges were fine but demons could lose their heads when a good foe was on the line.
As more details were revealed, people were shocked to learn that she was only a mid tier Sky Realm and would take over in 200 years!
The official date was issued and it seemed way too fast!
Many powers petitioned to meet with Lind but he denied them all with one phrase.
[My Clan is my business.]
Few could argue that as any of them would be insulted if outsiders tried to pry into the inner workings of their own processes.
Abigail showed she had a powerful mind and patience in the public appearances she had after a century of training but it was clear it was low level stuff. A negotiation for resources or exportation of business related to the Clan's specialties.
Still, she pulled it off and her small success and minor etiquette mistakes were perfectly inline with an heir in training. Lind pulled back more as time passed until she became the de facto leader of the Clan!
It was only when Lind made the official announcement that he became the Ancestor of the Frey Clan that all understood he was moving on from the world. Some were glad as they just did not understand him but others felt fear.
The last time that man went on ahead with his concerns, the Celestial Fields were restored!
He also had a Crystal Tier Immortal at his disposal as well! What was that man doing?!

"Clan Head, we have officially made the new settlements of Rasker self-sufficient. Your documents on harvesting and preservation actually sped up the project by a century." Abby heard the report and nodded.
She was a very different woman from 2 centuries ago but the crimson robes only made it more clear about her unique physical body as she was now at the peak of the Sky Realm.
She could step into the Star Tier any day but wanted to polish her foundation more before proceeding. She also had to understand how her body would change when that happened as her bloodline would massively improve as well.
Grandmother Ethry, Uncle Hei, and Ancestor Lind had all helped her as much as they could but it was her own journey now.
"Very good. Make sure the businesses tied to the Clan keep going and we will assign some Sky Realms and World Realms to flow out to aid them in the future." All the Elders nodded in agreement.
They were swimming in all levels of Qi stones. Still, they kept spending on these new projects so they had to keep making more!
Abby had found that what she assumed common knowledge was unique to her! Lind had laughed and happily encouraged her to review and create materials to teach others.
It had made their own herb garden and crystal harvesting improve immensely. The profits from that small contribution spread to all their projects and made the Elders extremely happy with their new Clan Head.
She had her eyes opened by the lessons Lind gave her. She had assumed the Clan Head had to have massive knowledge of all subjects and a gravitas that could not be easily mimicked but he disabused of that!
She saw his mistakes and also his frustrations even with his own family!
The Grandmothers were all there to advise her but they would not intervene unless something went truly out of line.
She also continued to make branches of the Clan and was stunned that the children of Lind obeyed her!
Since they would not be heir, they would establish the branches or other guilds to support it. There were now 6 branches planned and no more. One would focus more on production, another on battle, another on cultivation, and so forth.
The branches would then raise candidates to send to the main Clan to become part of it or to join the guilds created by the Clan.
The early stages were a bit one way in support of the branches but the future would have a back and forth of members. Clansmen that could not ascend high enough, would be sent to branches to either run them or aid them.
It was still being fully worked out but Abby had decided to build 3 arenas to be used for tournaments in the future. One for battle, one for production, and the last for Law Battles. The last one was unique to Immortals.
They could grasp the same Law but to different levels. They could directly compare to each other and other Immortals could benefit from such battles.
Lind had been impressed with her idea and approved it 70 years ago.
The Elders had loved it too but made some modification to her intent. The 3 arenas would also be used for branch members to prove their worth to the main clan in the future.
In the case of the Law Battle arena, it could also be used as a reward for Sun Tiers which she had not considered.
Abby dismissed the meeting as she headed to her office. Lind had given up the Clan Head office to her but when she found him waiting, she was surprised. It had been over 20 years since she last saw him like that but smiled at him.
"I do not miss the meetings, but you are doing well!" His playful smile made her jealous but she nodded sharply at his sentiment.
"What brings you here?" She noticed he felt more powerful but not by much. It meant he had advanced but he had to interrupt his cultivation for a reason.
"You are about to advance and I wanted you to see something." He got up and she noticed his robes were the crimson, black, and gold of the Clan. He had come as the Ancestor.
She bowed and followed him to the special teleportation weaving that took them to the 18 spheres above.
They appeared in the open sky on the dark metal tower of the delicate structure of the spheres. The Celestials bowed low but he smiled and waved them off before marching to a dock.
The structure had been modified over the millennia to accommodate sky ships and star ships. The latter had been attempted once more but the massive size and resource consumption left them as limited use.
They were there as trump cards if needed.
She noticed a new ship was floating at the sky ship dock. It was like a ship for the seas but much smaller compared to its larger brethren. It was equipped with sails but she felt the power thrum from its tapered hull.
She recognized grade 7 materials at every turn as Lind swung open the hatch into the darkened control room.
"Please imprint here." She looked confused as she did as he asked. The instant her blood touched the panel, it lit up with a hum and she saw all the controls come to life!
It was bonded to her!
"My final act as the former leader of the Frey Clan is to grant you your own Sky Ship. Name it what you like and know I have finally made a spirit ship." Abby nearly stumbled as she checked and a nascent spirit did answer her call! It was alive!
Tears formed in her eyes.
"Grandfather, you are leaving?" He nodded but pulled her into a hug.
"I have to go but I will never be far. I have left you a spirit weapon and armor here as well. They will grow with you. Treat them well." She tightened her grip on him but nodded. Such powerful items would make her near invulnerable in a short time.
"The Clan is yours now. I will only come in dire need. Good luck, Abby." She brushed the tears away and bowed low.
"I will protect the Clan with my life but also live to enjoy my time with them." His most important lesson had been to recall she was not a shield alone. She was also a support and a member. She had to strive to live as much as be prepared to sacrifice herself.
He smiled and mussed up her hair. The familial interaction made her weep as even her own parents now acted distant to her. She would miss Lind a lot.
He then tore space and vanished from her sight!
