Chapter 914 - 913 - Request of Wen
What had it been? It must have been almost 3000 years at least since she had last heard from the True Lord.
She occasionally heard from his wife, Ethry, but he was very busy most of the time. The chaos of the other races did not concern her as they could not harm the Temple of Souls.
Ever since the Celestial Fields were restored, the Divine Inheritance had restored all their defenses and power to an absurd level.
No one but the acolytes and the True Lord knew it was there but even if they did, none could reach them.
She now had violet robes marked with a gold stripe to show she had risen up in the ranks. As she moved down the moss covered stone passageway, she wondered why the True Lord had asked for her.
She felt a slight pang in her heart at the memory of her beloved. Hope had left a mark that would not heal and her cultivation had stopped entirely.
She turned a corner and found the meeting room opened to admit her.
The emerald haired man was not alone as he had a dark haired boy next to him. She called him boy but she was stunned to feel the Shard Tier aura coming off him!
She quickly realized he was the child of the True Lord and his wife, Ethry.
"Welcome back to the Temple of Souls, True Lord." A frown crossed his face but he said nothing. She saw the dark haired boy flinch for some reason but they all sat down around a small table and enjoyed some Gold Jasmine tea.
It was a pleasing tea that most dragons and humans could find pleasurable as cultivators for their dantians and meridians to be cleansed.
"It had been too long. I do not know if you have kept up with everything, but my son Hei is now engaged and would like to marry." Wen was slightly confused why she was being told but smiled as was required.
The frown seemed to deepen on the True Lord's face but she ignored it.
"My congratulations on your engagement Junior Hei. I, of course, know your mother fairly well. The True Lord and I also know each other from his time before the restoration and after." She bowed low but the young man looked between them and seemed to fidget.
"Ah, thank you. I came here because my grandparents, the ones that endure here, said I should get the blessing of a Temple. I am not sure what–" Understanding flooded her as she held up her hand for him.
"It is not an onerous thing. The Temple of Souls and the Temple of Fire are a source of unity for the various dragon races. We like to simply bless your union and can do so before or after the marriage. Given that you are the son of the True Lord, it would be an honor–" The room suddenly tilted as she was not aware of being struck until she slammed into the stone wall.
The sound of thunder filled the room but not a single stone was cracked. None of them remotely had the power to even scratch the stone of the temple.
"Father!" The young man spoke up but Wen simply waved him off before standing up and straightening her robes.
"I beg the True Lord's forgiveness if I have offended you. I will of course find someone more suitable–" The flare of a peak low Shard Tier silenced her. His power was shocking at that level and it made it clear he was displeased.
"Hei, please give us a moment." The young man sighed but nodded and stepped out of the room.
Silence descended and it was clear the True Lord was angry for some reason.
"Look at me, Wen." She flinched at the command in his voice and her body obeyed. Her head swiveled up and she saw those emerald eyes pierce her soul!
A stir of anger flared in her heart; she could not hide and he slowly nodded at what he saw.
Her crimson and gold eyes began to blur as tears formed as well. She shook as she kept her body in place.
"I knew you withdrew but I did not know it was this bad. I respected your choice but it seems I have made a mistake not checking on you. I apologize for that." His words broke her control as she shot across the room.
She picked him up by one arm and slammed him into the opposite wall. Blazing flames as hot as the sun swirled around her as she no longer cared about anything.
"MISTAKE?! YOU MADE A MISTAKE?! You dare to come here and stand in front of me?! She died for you! She loved you more than me and you come here saying you respect my choice?!" Her fist struck his jaw with a sickening crunch.
Blood covered her knuckles but she did not stop as she kept attacking him.
All she could see was that sweet smile as she left their quarters on the Wings of Freedom.
The last words she ever said to her haunted her dreams.
{I need to help Big Brother.}
It was not 'I love you,' or even just a good-bye kiss. It was all about him!
"SHE WOULD STILL BE ALIVE IF NOT FOR YOU!" She knew that was a lie. She knew they would all be long dead by now but did not care. The smoldering rage had found an outlet and did not let up!
Immortal grudges were not small things and dragon grudges even more so.
An unknown amount of time later, the reality of what she had done came back to her! She had attacked the True Lord!
She quickly backed up and saw his bloody face and noticed his broken limbs as he slowly stood up.
It was only then that she realized he had done nothing to stop her, and only protected his life! Nothing else.
An elixir appeared with all colors of the natural Qi that sparkled with gold! Peak mid grade 7! He opened his broken jaw with his hand and made not a sound as the cracking of bones was heard and he was slowly restored.
He was no longer angry but now looked concerned at her.
"Feel better?" His gentle question brought tears to her eyes as she collapsed in front of him. He caught her and let her cry for an unknown amount of time. "I am so sorry I was not here sooner."
She nearly laughed as she was not sure any sooner would have helped. The long absence let the grudge fester and nearly become a heart demon.
"Why are you here, Lind Frey?" A smile finally crossed his face but nodded to the door.
"Hei has been raised by stories we could give on his grandparents so meeting them was a big deal for him. He wants to be involved and honestly wants the blessing of the Temple of Souls. I would like you to be the one to give it to him and his mate if you are willing." She was confused.
Any acolyte can give the blessing to be precise. Of course, for the True Lord of Dragons, the new High Priestess would be happy to do so, but he asked for her?
"I am happy to bless his union but it is truly a simple affair. We are not humans. Mating is instinct and whoever he has found is fine." He smirked at her words before a projection appeared.
"She is human." Now she understood. Cross species mating was not discouraged but it really did need a blessing from the temple. Of any acolyte currently there, she would be truly enthusiastic about it.
"I will be honored. Will she come here?" Lind frowned before shaking his head.
"I originally wanted to do that but I think I have a better idea. You should come with us. Is that all right?" She cocked her head at him but there was no restriction on where it happened.
"It is not a problem, but why?" He smiled and shook his head.
"I think it will help as much as beating me to within an inch of my life did." She blushed at that. Her grandfather would kill her if she told him! Ever since the Celestial Fields was restored, Lind Frey had become akin to a god to the dragons.
"I will happily follow you, True–" He bonked her on the head.
"None of that! You were the mate of my little sister. You are family, Wen." She felt a tug on her heart. He had not pushed to bring her to his clan and respected her wish to become an acolyte but clearly had never forgotten her.
"Yes, Father-in-Law." He smiled wider and nodded.
"Now, let's get that poor boy in here before he rats me out to–" A sudden pressure descended on them both as they slowly turned to find a gorgeous woman with prismatic hair staring hard at them.
"Would either of you care to explain why a battle broke out over my son's wedding?" The way too calm voice sent shivers down both their spines.
There were some that wanted to investigate why the True Lord and his wife were in a meeting with High Acolyte Wen but an aura of fear washed over them if they got anywhere near the room!
Some say they heard screams of pain but they just assumed that was their imagination.
