Chapter 908 - 907 - Racial Specialties
Chapter 908 - 907 - Racial Specialties
Lind examined the phoenix woman of the Xang Clan. It was in the records and now he understood why no one came for her. Someone had saved her before she was reborn entirely but there was no record at all of this Phoenix Prison.
It was no doubt a secret but he had a myriad questions about it. Time did not exist inside the ward yet it still clearly passed for this woman. Why?
[Master, something you may not be aware of is some races specialize naturally with Laws. Dragons have an excellent control of space but are closer to flames so few consider their mastery with space first. It is why you are able to comprehend Laws of Space that are very complex.]
He nodded at Haro's words.
"So the phoenix race is time?" He felt the affirmation from the spirit.
[The best manipulators and teachers of Time Laws carry their blood. Romana is strange as she is definitely human but her ability closely resembles the phoenix reincarnation. It is not but very close.]
He grasped it but then understood some things.
"She was supposed to live a crazed life, die, and be reborn under her own Time Laws?" Again, Haro nodded. As Lind progressed, he was able to make leaps about the complex aspects of cultivation.
So what went wrong? She was clearly still contaminated when he arrived but then he reviewed the aftermath of the massive attack.
The Fiends used the chaos to kill all the phoenixes they could. It was not easy but with many allies stuck dealing with the crazed ones, it gave them free reign.
It was a bloodbath.
The Xang Clan had been exterminated only 100 thousand years after the main attack. None of them were heard from after that. So no one could come for Feng.
As she just told him, the prisons were intentionally moved to places out of the way and isolated. The Sacred Path was exposed due to the Cataclysm from what he understood so they may not have known or it may have been beneficial in some way.
"I should not have been able to get in, should I?" Haro confirmed it.
[If it is a racial specialty, a key of some kind would normally be needed but you are far outside the norm, Master. You have access now only to all 3 elemental systems, but your foundation is very deep beyond any dragon ever. It would not be wrong to assert your triple profession specialty made this possible.]
Lind snorted as it came down to something he had been called many times. He was a monster.
It was not his fault. He needed to exhaust so many rumors, leads, and tests to see what worked to move forward that he touched on just about everything. He struggled for centuries until he really got to the Heaven Realm where a lot of far easier to adapt ideas existed.
His unorthodox path aside, the actual cultivation just needed his harmony and professions to be accounted for. It was still hard but a lot easier compared to the Soul to the Sky Realms where there was just nothing but scraps to work with.
That foundation allowed him to grasp Laws most cultivators would specialize in but he was all over the place.
If races had specialities, he wanted to understand them! They could hold answers for his progress!
"Haro, tell me I am wrong but no scouting report in the last 1000 years reported a phoenix sighting." Silence descended and he knew what it meant.
There was a very good chance that the Xang Clan woman was the last of her kind in the entirety of the lowest layer of the Celestial Fields.
He did not know why that was as they should also have Divine Inheritances but thus far, nothing had been found.
Even the lead to the black shelled tortoise had been revealed to be a trap by a Divine Will with no other sign of them.
The white tigers were also missing.
The hunts for the dragons may have only been the latest before the Realm Refiner was activated to prevent any intervention.
Anger rose in him. The Fiends had planned it out and as they got close they made sure to remove all obstacles.
The divine bloodlines were a direct threat to them as much as his harmony from what he understood.
It seemed no one noticed the smaller deaths hidden under the major attacks. He reviewed the records once more and began to see the pattern.
The dragons would not raise a claw to help the phoenix clans but Fiends were a united enemy. Yet what the Fiends did was to use their demonic forces to contaminate as many roosts as possible and send as many reincarnating phoenixes mad.
The insane power unleashed brought all the races to stop them but under that chaos the smaller and near divine bloodlines had been wiped out a little too neatly.
After that major incident, the black shelled tortoises suddenly disappeared but no one knew why. The crystalline mountains were barren and the Divine Will hid from any dangers to itself.
The Divine Guardian should have been alive back then but clearly she was kept in the dark to defend the area she was in.
It likely drove the Divine Will to speed up its plans to create a suitable body.
The white tigers were the only one he could not find a real record of. They were actually very warlike and thus mass death was not exactly new. Even so, they had a hierarchy so their bloodline could be preserved.
The higher bloodlines could not be killed entirely but if captured or beaten, would be incorporated into the tribe that took them.
After the chaos, several battles resulted in total annihilation of a tribe. This caused a spike in berserker style wars that they actually did most of the work.
Finally, after millions of years, the dragon hunts started. It was all a mix of open warfare, human greed, and rather convenient coincidences that systematically wiped out the greatest threats to the Fiends.
He had missed it but then the purpose was dumb. So long as the higher layers wanted, they could send down their descendants to replenish or replace the depleted bloodlines.
No one knew that that option was gone.
"Bastards." He sighed before finally testing his ribs and limbs to find them completely healed. He then picked up the girl and the spear floated happily next to them.
"Yes, we are leaving. Let's go." He had been launched around the room but he traced the spatial sense back to his entrance. He then manipulated the stone wall and the black square opened once more.
The dimensional bridge was much more appreciative to him but then he became confused.
"Haro, if the phoenixes are not masters of Space Laws, how did they make this tower?" No answer came meaning he did not know. Shrugging, he stepped through into the sunlight of the open space.
The spear seemed to dance in the light as the tower closed behind them. Nothing else happened but they quickly walked down the path but then he froze and looked at her.
[I do not know if she will face a tribulation master. Normally she should be fine but they still face tribulations each time they live their lives.]
He slowly nodded and then used his Laws to make the ward glow before something odd happened.
A beam of light scanned over all of them and a pressure seemed to build briefly before it passed. What was that?
The ward opened up and he stepped out.
The instant they left the area behind them was ripped apart by lightning!
It was on a scale he had never encountered even in Rakathi!
It was not the Wrath of Heaven but tribulation lightning!
It was round after round of every single kind of tribulation possible.
Gold Tribulation, Diamond and so forth. He quickly made his way to the ship and realized barely any time had passed as Romana was still inside and Ilyria was just cultivating but now she stared as massive black clouds reduced the 50 square meters to a smoking hole in the ground!
Not one bolt ever came at them. Not any feeling of danger or anger even blinked at them.
He did not understand it entirely but suspected that she advanced without any tribulation so as not to draw attention but now the prison took it all!
How did that work? How was Heaven not enraged?
[Time, Master. They used that very timeless prison to compress her recovery somehow but she was still in there. We were touched by some Law of Time to leave and now she is both here and in there.]
His head began to ache at that impossible statement.
"I hate temporal mechanics." A sentence he never thought to repeat came out of his mouth. If George could hear him, he would fist pump the air.
He had many questions for Feng when she woke up, but for now they had to leave. Quickly.
They all piled into the ship as lightning never stopped slamming into the former forest.
The ship flew off and no one noticed as all they could feel was the pressure of tribulations that scared the hell out of anyone that tried to go near it.
Lind got away and one knew that a phoenix had returned to the Celestial Fields.
