Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 904 - 903 - Twisted Time

Chapter 904 - 903 - Twisted Time

Romana was stuck. She had become an Immortal but then her progress stagnated hard.

Everyone slowed down the farther they got in cultivation but it was like a wall slammed in front of her as she became a Shard Tier.

It made her smirk at how Shard Tiers used to be only 50 to 80 people at most actively with a few ancestors in reserve to fight the Fiends. Now, they were well over a million and growing but the sheer space of the Celestial Fields made it clear that was nothing.

The City of Frey, the current home of the Frey Clan, was able to support over 20 Shard Tiers and still have plenty of resources left over to sell or be traded through them!

She was currently waiting patiently after receiving a request from Annabelle to come to the clan palace.

She had been actually there on business for her sect but then was about to leave when one of the Emerald Cloaks asked her to wait. He had been very polite so she knew she was not in trouble.

She had seen more than a few fools try to steal or break the laws of the clan in the city. It did not go well. She was curious how some were discovered as it was an issue for her own sect in the cities they ran but the difference was the Frey Clan only ran 1 city compared to them.

The room was quite nice as for being just off the teleportation array. It had comfortable chairs with nearly glowing wooden tables polished to fine finish. The tea was served in excellent porcelain cups the color of jade with black rings on top.

She could not identify the tea for sure but suspected it was helpful to calm nerves or increase Qi gathering knowing her hosts.

She was curious why Annabelle had her waiting so close to their clan teleportation array.

A knock at the door made her smile as she beckoned them inside.

The gorgeous visage of Annabelle came in. Romana always felt like Lind was far too lucky in love with all his wives being so beautiful. Some were voluptuous and would be thought to be empty headed by many but they would severely regret such assumptions.

Annabelle was the unquestioned Mistress of Illusions even now and despite being theoretically the weakest of his wives, she had abilities that would kill most Shard Tiers despite still being very weak offensively.

"Romana, I am so glad we caught you before leaving. I am hoping you can help Lind." She was piqued by the words but then frowned.

"I am not here for leisure, Annabelle. I am on a mission for the sect." Any other time she would be happy to help but she had to get back. The sapphire and gold face smiled wide at her.

"Fey is willing to take back the resources you have plus some grade 7 elixirs we don't normally have available to compensate for the trouble." That perked up her ears. Why were they so desperate to get her help?

"While I can believe the sect master would agree to this, why me of all people?" Annabelle smirked before holding out her hand. Romana sighed before handing over the bracelet that had all the resources she had purchased.

As if it had been agreed upon beforehand, Fey entered the room and took the bracelet. Romana was stunned at the feeling of power that came off her! She was a high Shard Tier!

When had she gotten so strong?! The Frey Clan was terrifying!

"Lind has come across something related to the Laws of Time but he cannot determine what exactly is the issue. You are the foremost expert in the Laws of Time."

Lind and his family were one of the very few that knew of her unique situation. Valkyrie had made any Maiden that knew Romana from before to swear an Oath to not reveal it. The main reason being that the sect master could see the future to come.

Now that the war was not looming over them all every day of their lives, the once solid Alliance was fracturing.

A cultivator that had insights to powerful Laws would become targets for either assassination or kidnapping. Laws were varied in difficulty but Space Laws, despite being complicated, were fairly common among Immortals.

Combined with Time Laws, however, made a terrifying level of power most Immortals salivate over. It did not matter that Romana's particular variety of Time Laws pertained to her and the concepts of reincarnation.

It was not impossible she could help an Immortal grasp an aspect of Time that would elevate them to an elite!

Lind was another one that had some grasp of the Laws of Time but it was vastly different from hers. If he was asking for her, it had to be bad.

"Is it a danger to us?" The Celestial Fields was a vast land of opportunity but she knew danger often went hand in hand.

Annabelle shrugged.

"It is actually what he wants you for. He tried to explain it but did not want to risk a jade slip or other imprint method in case it leaked. Will you go?" She had no idea where he was but Romana was actually excited.

She had been stuck so long and a new place to examine would be good for her.

"Sign me up!" She put out her right hand and made a victory sign within the first 2 fingers. Annabell smirked before handing her a token of their clan.

They left the room and came to the clan teleportation array. She was curious why there were going up to the drydock but then she realized it must be very far away.

Annabelle infused her Qi into it and the circle in the stone slab lit up before it settled down.

"Please stand in the center." Romana was confused. Was Annabelle not taking her up? She moved inside and then looked back at her.

"Good luck, Romana!" Confused at her encouragement, the feeling of weightlessness washed over her before she realized the time in transit was too long! She was one of the few cultivators that could feel the shift in space and time as she moved.

She suddenly realized she was going directly to Lind! How had he created a link to a new teleportation array?!

Before she could contemplate it more, the world came back to her. She had been at about midday before but now it was nearly night!

She looked around and found herself in a simple forest before a pair of people waved to her near a ship she did not recognize!

She flew over and examined Lind and Ilyria. Something was off. Ilyria felt different to her but she could not pin down why but Lind was far more powerful! She was shocked to realize he was a Shard Tier!

The sensation a few months ago had to have been his breakthrough! How insane did he have to be?!

"Romana, I am glad you could come." He greeted her with a smile and pulled her into a hug! Why was he so happy? What was going on?

Ilyria waved at her and bowed but she focused on the man in front of her. He seemed ok but was smiling way too much even for him. He was always amiable to his friends and loving to his family but never to that degree in public!

"Happy to help, where is this issue you want me to examine?" Lind then waved her off which confused her more.

"I just wanted to discuss a recent breakthrough I had with you. Come, we can get inside my new ship. You should see it!" Alarms went off in her head. They were being watched!

They went into the ship and she was actually impressed with the feeling of power around her before she realized with shock it was far stronger than the vessel she had seen flying around the Frey Clan recently!

She saw him place his palm near the door and the hatch sealed behind them before a flare of light showed a ward had been activated. His smile vanished and he sat down hard in the chair.

"Uncle, you don't have to stress about them so much." Ilyria patted his head but he only nodded tiredly. Romana found that much more in line with the friend she knew.

"Who is bothering us?" She asked but Ilyria was the one that flicked a crystal switch that lit up a jade screen to show 3 men near some kind of village staring directly at them.

She did not recognize 2 of them but the 3rd was well known to her.

"So, the Alliance has a Sacred Path village out here. Seems like it is under the Smoldering Flame Sect. Hasn't he been trying to get his daughter to marry into your family?" She teased him but then saw the grim look on his face.

"If that was all, I would actually prefer it. They want to know why we are here and will not take the hint to leave us alone. Further, I did not exactly get permission for that teleportation weaving." She recalled to ask how he linked it but then realized he wanted to talk to her about the reason she was there.

She heard his description and frowned at his words. He was somehow beyond time for the moment something happened that reverted the forest ahead of them back to a younger version of itself. Why would anyone do that?

"So you have found nothing? No secret realm, treasure, or anything?" Lind shook his head.

"I can't sense anything wrong either aside from the age of everything being in sync which should be impossible." She nodded before following him back out to the forest.

They did not have to walk far before she felt stark nausea assault her. She fell over and became sick in an instant before Lind pulled her back to the other side.

Both looked concerned at her but she brushed her bright pink hair aside and looked ahead more seriously.

Everything seemed fine until she focused on the Laws of Time. The air became tilted to her vision and she felt dizzy just looking at it.

Time was twisted in that forest!
