Chapter 888 - 887 - Dawn of a New Journey
Chapter 888 - 887 - Dawn of a New Journey
Lind awoke in his giant bed. It had to be giant for times like he was currently in. His wives were all next to him deeply asleep.
They had danced with him some more over the last few days of the banquet. He had also spent time with his children and grandchildren. He also, annoyingly, had to suffer through some pointless meetings.
The end result was the unbreakable understanding that the Frey Clan would stand alone. They refused to get involved in the Alliance but would happily trade with them.
He made sure Qing, Shoti, and Annabelle stayed out of it but Lysanna, Ethry, and Cyntilla would work with their respective races to keep the peace.
Kora would work with Tal to get the other beast races to at least grasp their position but frankly their job was the easiest. Him being a True Lord seemed to have sprouted wings and spread across the realm!
He suspected the Elementals were involved in that but they had kept far from most powers save his own. Even then, it was only the handful he really knew.
Esmerelda stayed near the dry dock to help the Celestials as they were found. They were learning as best they could but it hurt him at times when they were so blindingly beautiful and reminded him of Hope.
Little Fluffy and Lis chose to stay with Yue but he had heard they both became Immortals without issue.
Wen actually became an acolyte of the temple but was his main contact with them. The statue he had created was beloved of all 3.
It was strange to think of 1000 years as a short time, but it felt like it had flown by. He looked at the peaceful faces of his wives. They had simply slept last night after an exhausting time saying goodbye to all their guests.
Romana was still hanging around but was just having fun from what he could tell.
"Time to go." He kissed each brow and a few of them blinked blearily but smiled. They knew he was leaving as they had discussed it last night.
It had been a long night of promises to meet up sooner than last time he left. He hoped to keep that promise at least.
He slipped out of his bedroom and exited his quarters only to find a stern looking Fey waiting for him.
Tal was not far behind her too!
"Is something wrong?" He was worried something had happened in the night but was then nearly knocked over as Tal barreled into him. She forgot her specialty that could send most living beings flying!
Her gray robes were a part of her and Fey had her battle dress on but also crushed him in a hug.
"You go off too often! We are going with you to the drydock!" Tal spoke of their plans and he smirked as he had no doubt many of his children wanted to do the same but were too busy to do so.
These 2 were also busy but clearly made plans to see him off!
They moved through the clan buildings that were still mostly dim in the early morning light.
There was a light mist but it was quickly clearing up. The crimson colors of most buildings actually made them stand out in the brightening daylight.
In the little time it seemed like, he had built a place that felt the closest to home in his heart. It was far larger and more complex, but the old halls of the Frey Clan in the Southern District would not be far off in design to what was around him.
He could imagine Kor, his sisters, and all the rest coming around any corner and it would not be odd at all to him.
He would come back. He would be a Shard Tier and working on advancing his cultivation to the Crystal Tier to see if he could ascend to the floating continents above.
The fact they were cut off by a layer did not deny the fact they were there.
They made it to the main reception hall and took the teleportation weaving up to the drydock. While it mostly served as a place of comprehension and safety for the Celestials, it still served its original function.
It had taken him centuries and many failures, but he finally made a skyship that worked in the Celestial Fields more powerful environment.
It had severe limitations but it worked. They moved towards one of the raised platforms where a crystal and wooden ship floated there. The light so dim down in the clan complex was much brighter up there.
The wind still blew over them but they were all Immortals so it hardly bothered them. They were just about to the floating dock for the ship when he froze.
A young woman with dark eyes and pale skin in very dark but shining robes stood there. Her hair was tied into a single braid laid over her shoulder. The dark color would be mistaken for black but it was actually hardened shells.
It was still as soft as hair but could become a weapon with a little concentration.
Ilyria was also seeing him off?
"You are late." She looked sternly at the pair with him who only shrugged while smiling.
"He was being lazy Papa! He was with all the moms last night!" Tal stuck her tongue out but the other 2 blushed and he just sighed. They never changed and he never wanted them to.
"I am happy to have you 3 see me off–" He then froze once more as Ilyria locked him with a stark look. She was nearly at the peak of the Sliver Tier, a speed that was terrifying given her age, but her aura of a divine beast was clear to them all.
She was one of the very few not affected by his True Lord aura either.
Ethry was affected but he suspected it was due to being a dragon more than anything. Kora and Tal were also not affected but he could not say whether that was due to their unique origins or perhaps coming from a higher realm.
Either way, he was curious as to what was going on as neither Fey nor Tal seemed surprised by Ilyria's reaction.
"I am coming with you, Uncle. No arguments." She then turned and entered the ship giving him a cold shoulder. He was confused.
Since being reunited, they had had a pleasant reunion. What had changed suddenly?
"Father, despite many explorations, we have found no trace of her mother anywhere. Not until the most recent expedition came back before the banquet." Fey was the one that spoke up but Lind was confused as to why he had not been informed of that!
"Papa, she wanted to leave right away but knew you were leaving soon too, so we suggested going with you. She has been like that ever since." He frowned and simply nodded. The ship was plenty big enough for half a dozen people comfortably.
Compared to the Nautilus Class or Wings of Freedom it was quite small but it worked.
"Fine, some company would not be bad. Any other surprises?" He saw them both shake their heads and he accepted it.
He hugged them close before hopping onto the open deck. It was much closer to a boat in that sense but it was aesthetic at that point as he walked down into the lower decks.
Ilyria was clearly in some quarters she chose so he took a seat in front of a simple pedestal inlaid with sigils and jade stone panels.
He closed his eyes and let his harmony infuse into the ship. After a bit, the ship thrummed to life before he opened his eyes and began to manipulate the controls.
The largest jade panel lit up and showed a clear view of the outside. He saw Fey and Tal wave at him as he cut the lines and flew off. The Celestials looked up and waved as well but he could not wave back.
He simply flared his aura and increased the speed as he headed dead north.
His first destination was the last Inheritance for his True Lord status. He was curious who was out there but once that was done, it then became a checklist and mapping mission.
As the drydock faded into the distance, he felt a tug on his heart as he knew he would not be back for some time.
It was at that moment that a much more timid Ilyria came into the control room.
"Uncle, I have the information about the area my mother may have come from. It is a strange place that may have survived." He took the jade slip and examined it. He knew where it was instantly but he had not known black shelled tortoises were associated with it.
It was actually partially in the outer lands so it should have part of it for sure.
"We will go there after I am done with the Inheritance. Is that alright?" She nodded and then sat next to him before leaning against his shoulder.
He recalled the start of her life and put his arm around her. He swore they would find out what they could but the likelihood they could find out the truth was slim to none after all that happened.
Still, he would try as both mother and daughter deserved as much closure as he could give.
