Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 879 - 878 - Thunderous Return

Chapter 879 - 878 - Thunderous Return

The war with the Fiends was not going well. Despite the effectiveness of the 6 elementals, the Fiends learned to overcome their weakness.

Widow and Mycea had become partners in full and their power was not trifling. They still could not infiltrate as they once had into the various powers but they became terrifying foes in war!

Bodies could be stacked like cordwood in the battles that followed and the Line moved deeper into the lands of the Alliance.

The Sanctuary Empire remained the primary foe, however. The Empresses of the Empire were all Immortals that seemed invincible but their children were the true Fiend terrors.

The children seemed born to stop the Fiends. Either they had direct combat ability or could craft items that defied all attempts to overcome them on the Fiend side!

Even so, a single empire was not enough to stop their advance, only slow it.

Cyntilla was covered in wounds and blood, her own and others, as she lay in the healing tent at the current Line. Her virulent green eyes were a bit dull after watching entire armies consumed by the newest battle formation of the Fiends.

The Widow had created it and it was devastating. Only 6 elementals could resist them but they had limits. The last battle had been bitter and far too many had died.

The slim form of Isolde came into her vision and she shook off the lethargy on her mind.

"Mother, we need to pull back the healing tents. Mother Qing is already getting the worst cases stable to move." The 2 women sighed at the logistical issue but before either could move to help, a feeling of danger fell over them.

Mycea was not letting an opportunity go!

Three Immortal Fiends led a fresh set of armies against them as vile lightning destroyed the protective wards set up around them! They had waited until they started to move to strike!

"Get Qing and Shoti to help with the evacuation!" Where one went, they would find the other usually. The 2 never really stopped being a duo even thousands of years later.

Her 2 short swords glowed with Qi as a faint wolf formed behind her. The deadly technique caused pain in her meridians as she had not fully recovered after the last battle.

That was no doubt the point of the attack. Three of the Empresses of the Sanctuary Empire were vulnerable at that moment!

The Fiends could not let it go. She saw the vile lightning in the distance but ash gray figures were reaping lives right in front of her.

She danced among them as death herself! Black blood flew in the air and she ignored her pain to keep killing.

Blood flowed anew down her body but her dark leather armor and chainmail still worked so she did not stop. Her blades did not stop reaping lives either and the Fiends finally focused on her.

A grim look crossed her face but she did not retreat. She was a peak Sliver Tier Immortal so she was able to do far more than others. She would kill all her foes, even at the price of her life!

She accepted she would likely die in the current battle but she did not regret her future being lost. She had already been blessed far more than she ever dreamed and smiled in a way that made even the horrifying Fiends blanch to see it.

Even they knew to fear such a foe.

She accepted her death and sent a thought to her beloved. She would never see him again but would ensure his children and 2 other wives survived!

The Fiends became frenzied as they saw a chance to kill a hated enemy at long last. Their vicious Qi tried to pierce her defenses but her husband had gifted her with defenses galore.

Emerald light protected her as artifacts at her waist activated but they began to dim slowly. Fiends died in flames by the dozens but they kept coming!

Her artifacts began to break down but she did not stop! She had to kill as many as she could!

She gave a moment to send a thought to her beloved but accepted her death. The Fiends sneered as they closed in but a shadow suddenly covered the battle.

All froze and looked up to see a strange object now hovering over them. It was a disc connected to a cylinder, but before any could truly take it in, a hatch opened and a terror emerged to the Fiends.

He had emerald hair that was quickly spreading over an expanding body. An emerald dragon filled the sky and looked down at the battle coldly.

A roar filled the skies and the Fiends felt a primal fear fill their hearts. Emerald flames blazed from the dragon in the sky and ravaged the armies. The once desperate defenders were now cheering as a name filled the air.

"LIND! LIND! LIND! LIND!"

The chorus brought tears to Cyntilla's eyes as the Fiends were routed by a single being once more.

Decades had passed but now her beloved was back!

The emerald dragon ravaged the Fiends until they could only retreat but the strange object also unleashed beams of destruction of the same power as Lind!

It dealt out death on the level of an Immortal!

The ambush and near route was reversed like the flipping of a switch. Cyntilla collapsed where she was as the pain racked her body.

Her sliver was cracked from over exertion but not beyond repair. She summoned an elixir that glowed with all 6 demonic colors and downed it. Soothing waves rippled over her body as the cracks healed.

She saw strangers dispersing in the crowd that had strange auras. It was like they were beast and human at once. They were also damned powerful even though she was certain a few were only Heaven Realms.

They were helping the injured and killing any Fiends still alive.

A young woman with golden eyes approached her but a voice she had missed spoke up.

"Jeryl, I will take care of this one." The woman bowed and moved on to the next as Cyntilla felt strong arms pick her up and she looked up into 2 emerald eyes gently looking at her.

"I seem to recall being admonished harshly for pushing myself too hard and living for the family. You should heed your own words, my lovely wife." Tears blurred her vision as she enjoyed listening to his heartbeat. The warmth of his body gave her a peace she had missed dearly.

She could tell he was on the cusp of becoming a Shard Tier. He was the one leaving them behind now!

"There are other battles–" Lind smirked at her words before pressing his forehead to hers.

"They are already settled. I did not just come lightly after all. I came to bring you all back with me. The way is open once more." A warm feeling washed over her.

"You have a lot of work for us to do then?" He laughed at her question and she relished the sound.

"It is better than that. The world is wide open and anywhere is open to us. There is no war and I hope there will not be for a long time. Even here, it will come to an end as they will become desperate." She did not understand but knew things were going to get busy.

"Let's go home." He smiled once more and carried her into the air as he flew over the now rebuilding camp.

She saw 2 more figures fly up to meet them quickly as Qing and Shoti nearly crushed her into their husband!

They then flew up to the gigantic vessel still attacking the now distant Fiend forces. From that vantage point, Cynilla could see the entire Line was lit up by Immortal level Arts!

How many Immortals were there? It was far more than such a vessel could hold alone!

"I invited some friends to follow me. They were rather eager to stretch their legs." It was only when Cyntilla narrowed her eyes and her senses that she was stunned.

Dragons. They were Immortal dragons!

The 3 women were in awe at the ship as well as the army of dragons decimating the Fiends. The Line that had advanced in the last few decades was receding at a pace visible to their eyes!

"Why are they so angry?" Qing could see the vicious nature of the attacks but Lind only laughed and looked straight up.

"The Cataclysm and all of us nearly dying was a Fiend scheme. To say they wanted payback would be vast understatement." They then entered the vessel and were in awe of its complexity.

He took them on a tour but Cyntilla refused to let go of his hand. Shoti took the other while Qing bore holes in their backs but neither cared.

Lind was back and they did not want to let him go.

The world was going to change again but they were reunited so their worries faded about it. The Wings of Freedom became a command hub for the battle until the Fiends simply fled.

Widow and Mycea escaped but they would find them. The war was finally shifting in their favor.
