Chapter 857 - 856 - Recruiting
Chapter 857 - 856 - Recruiting
The next 20 years proved how little Lind had grasped of his discovery. His new creation generated not only power but actually increased the area around the temple lands! He did not understand why as resources were not infinite.
He also had his goal but he began to appreciate George more when he explained the theoretical construction of the fictional starships.
A power source was but one piece of a massive puzzle.
How was the power distributed?
How was the fuel put into the power source?
How was it regulated to keep it stable?
How was it to be repaired if it failed?
How was the ship to be kept safe if the main power failed?
The questions spurred more questions and needs just for the power systems alone! Living quarters, food storage, and so much else that artifacts did not hold all the answers for.
Storage treasures, or things designed in a similar way, would take care of resources to a point but without imprinting on a cultivator, they would be useless. The Qi had to be tied to the ship which would consume more power.
He also wanted to make it smaller, as much as he could, but he ran into new problems with that as resources were too damned few. The Seeds he had created were limited as well as space was at a premium.
In the end, Lind reached only 1 solution. He went straight up.
He salvaged from the building and what he had. He completely deconstructed everything he built and pulled from his ring all he could.
He had quite a few storage treasures in pouch, bracelet, and other forms as well that had allocated all he would need to create Seeds once more but he had to completely rethink how he was going to do it.
It was then that he began engraving his own version of a formation array. Some dragons thought he was building a new structure but they were only half right.
Unlike the lower realms, Lind now had options he could never do before. He did not have the skill to make a Law Array or Law Core, but he had been studying his own professions for answers and recognized something from his memory at long last.
The thing that held Delenn in Cimmeria was more than just a grade 7 weaving. Even as he delved into it, he now understood there was an entire branch to his own profession with the potential to create such a space torn from the Celestial Fields and implanted in a mortal realm.
Law Weaving.
He had only touched on it but infusing Law, complete minor Laws, changed the quality of his weaving but not the grade.
It was like Heaven grade versus mortal grade from before.
He smirked at thinking he had made an Inheritance before but now he grasped he was only just starting to have the kind of understanding needed to create a true special realm that could endure without tricks or using his Earth knowledge to come up with solutions.
It was still an Inheritance left behind in the Heaven Realm lands but it would be more like a place of guidance than a true legacy.
Regardless, after 10 years, he finally made progress in weaving to the point he created a new thing for him.
Laws flared alongside sigils and changed them. Gravity changed directions as a pillar of white appeared at the perimeter of the complex weaving.
Without any effort, Lind pushed off the ground and shot upward but not so quickly that he vanished to anyone looking.
Passing dragons froze as they felt no fluctuation they recognized from the ascending figure! He was neither using Qi nor his innate ability!
Wen came flying over and Hope was with her but stared in awe as he became a tiny speck. No one saw him for another 3 years before he suddenly returned from above!
The only sign was the shift in color from white to blue in the circle he left behind. While some wanted to follow, he had somehow bypassed the ceiling restriction on flight!
Lind landed softly and looked exhausted but smiled as Hope came running over to him. She was only a mid Sun Tier and still acted far younger than she looked, but at that moment no one looking at her could deny she was a stunning young woman.
Her beauty transcended any convention applied and would make humans call her a goddess if they saw her.
"Big Brother! You are back!" She tackled him and he hugged her back before checking her over.himself.
"I got the framework completed but it is too big for me to continue alone. It is time to recruit some people." He walked off as several dragons sent messages that Lind had returned!
They made their way up the main temple steps before stopping at the doorway as he sensed a familiar person approaching from behind him.
Wen appeared and he smiled as he waved at her. She was at the top of the list he was looking for.
She felt a cold sweat break out as the smile was not friendly. It was a predator that had found his prey!
"T-true Lord! Where have you been?!" He noticed her stutter but was confused as to why. He shrugged it off and nodded for her to follow them.
They went up the steps until they came to the High Priestess' quarters. The door opened of its own accord to let them in.
"You know, for someone who says he does not want special treatment, you treat my entrance like it is nothing to come up here." The old dragon rested against the wall. She was still blind but her other senses easily saw them.
"My apologies, Senior. I am too excited by my progress. As I relayed to you before I left, I have completed the framework. I now need some help to complete my task." Wen and Hope bowed low to the High Priestess but she simply began to laugh.
"If what you promised is true, then all of us need to give you as much help as we can! So, you brought the rambunctious Suneater for a reason?" Lind bowed and began to explain he needed help.
The day began to get away from them a bit by the time he was done.
Wen looked at him in shock at what he described for his needs.
"Why do you need so many of us?" He turned to her and held up his hands.
"For all I can do with Qi and my own skills, the plain truth is time is a variable I am limited on. I need to speed up my work and only more hands can do that for me at this point. I have the plans, but need the help to pull it off." His humility made her respect him more. Many cultivators became too arrogant as they gained power.
"Well I can see the girl will follow you, but the younger generation is not as enamored of you as the older is. You have been a bit..ah..disruptive and taken many resources. Your gifts helped but their memories are now short." Lind smirked at her honest words.
For cultivators, nearly 25 years was not much, but the current circumstances did pose an issue with the limited resources they had available to cultivate.
"That is how I will entice them. I spent the last few years creating places not just for my ship building, but for helping all of you. It needs to be built up as well, but time needs to pass as well. Building the ship solves both issues." The 3 women nodded at his words.
"Those Seeds you spoke of?" He nodded at the High Priestess' words.
"I have set them up and they are now at the initial stages thanks to the rich environment up there. I also found some unexpected help." All 3 perked up at that but he could only wave it off. "Only those that join me will learn of it for now. So, how should I recruit my builders?"
The High Priestess bowed her long neck down and even Wen put a hand to her chin to think. Dragons, despite being closely related to fire in most of their varieties, did not make things like other races.
They relied more on their bodies and power than manufactured things. Those things could always be bought or found if truly needed. Formations were different as they had a practical use but that was it.
"The hybrids…" Wen suddenly said a word that drew Lind's stare. He was suddenly in front of her and she jumped at the intensity of his gaze.
"Ah yes, a few clans did take them in when the world began to collapse. It was a mercy but it has caused tension. They would not listen to the True Lord though, young one." Lind was confused. Who were they talking about?
"Who are the hybrids?" He knew what the term generally meant but as his own children had only inherited benefits from him, he assumed what he was imagining was impossible.
"Some humans have requested to integrate with our bloodlines. If a clan agreed, those humans benefited from the arrangement and swore to serve the clan in exchange for a time. That was when the world was vast and we needed trustworthy agents in human lands." He became slightly angered as he saw where Wen was going.
"When the Cataclysm came, many dragons abandoned their obligation to those humans but some did not. The Sunfire Clan saved the largest amount of children for instance and as many adults as they could but the strain on the resources meant they do not get the same amount of resources." The High Priestess spoke the harsh reality but all of them felt Lind's aura spike.
"Why can't I feel them?" His bond to all dragons did not seem to extend to the so called hybrids. He would rather think of them as bloodsworn or perhaps blood blessed depending on perspective but the answer was already known before the priestess answered him.
"They are not like you. They remain human with dragon blood. It is not a simple process at all but they find worth in it. Do not judge them too harshly, True Lord. The world is all about benefits and no one was forced into taking the blood. Many humans were jealous of them." Lind's eyes glowed harshly.
"I am not angry about the existence of them, I am angry about the fact not one person ever so much as let them see the light of day! Hope?" She shook her head and confirmed they had not been allowed to see her either!
Nearly 3 decades but the pair had yet to meet even one?
"Take me to them, now!" The sky rumbled and Wen felt a pressure slam into her that nearly made her kneel right there. The High Priestess sighed as if very tired before nodding at her.
"Show him your clan. It is best to start with a good impression. I suspect this will be…unpleasant for some of the clans." Wen nodded and swiftly left with Lind on her tail. Hope was not far behind but she looked concerned at Lind.
His happy face was gone and back was the grim faced warrior. No one truly understood the storm that was about to be unleashed.
