Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 855 - 854 - Harmonic Dance

Chapter 855 - 854 - Harmonic Dance

A strange feeling was coming from the lab of the True Lord in the next weeks. Dragons, by their nature, were very sensitive to changes in Qi, scents, and so forth. Where before the lab felt like chaotic storms would spike followed by the feeling of devastation was strong in it, now, a new feeling came from it.

There was no reference in any of their race memories and it made them itchy to go near it. Any remaining stubborn clans that wanted to just get in the new True Lord's good graces no longer went near the building.

Hope too had to leave but because she nearly broke through before she was ready! She really wanted to keep watching as it was fascinating, but she was made to leave by Lind, himself.

Inside the building, a massive area had been cleared out once more and a massive harmonic crystal floated as several artifacts fed into it more elemental Qi. It kept the crystal vital but the floating was all on its own.

Lind looked a bit frazzled but he was smiling as he had finally found the right balance to create a grade 7 harmonic crystal! It was his own emerald version, but nowhere near as powerful as his true harmony inside his sliver.

It was a limitation he had found when creating the crystals. The closer he got to his own realm, the less complete they became.

It showed he had to spend more time studying his harmony in the near future.

Still, he wanted to see if he could create a process to keep the crystal energized so for proof of concept, they still fit the bill.

Wyndham's old notes and his own from just studying various harmonies had inspired him enough to make it as far as he had.

The artifacts were simple condensers at the moment but he would need something more, but that was not the best part. They were grade 7 condensers that had no issue just gathering simple elemental Qi of each type that was then funneled down jade tubes to the harmonic crystal inside a simple glass container Forged to hold it.

Yet, all he had done was to prove he could replicate in crystal form what happened in his own body. Generating power was still a big step away, but creating the process in front of him was necessary to even attempt to make that next step.

If he could not create a system to sustain the harmonic crystal alone, it would make any further attempt pointless.

He had several problems to overcome but the glass case proved to have solved one.

Originally, his harmonic crystals demonstrated stronger effects as the grade increased. His emerald crystals tended to nurture the growth of plants, Hope's cultivation, and Wen even felt inspired the one time she finally popped in to deliver some materials for him.

The glass case prevented that much as he saw no change in the pots of fast growing herbs he had set up for testing them.

It had only taken a few weeks to get that far but the shape of things was coming together in his head. The tough part was now 2 fold.

He had to find the right harmonies to resonate to generate power safely and just destroy each other as his and Kexin's did.

Still, now that he had an apparatus to test them, he found he needed more room! The 6 artifacts with their 6 jade channels all fed into the glass sphere container. As the harmony crystal grew in grade, it also grew in size.

He had tried compressing it by manipulating space, which only added to the complexity of the forces involved. Trying to change space interfered not only with the infusion of new Qi but the Laws prevented anything from escaping!

He was trying to automate the process, not require a cultivator to live and die to keep it going!

Weaving did not help solve that issue either so he reverted to real size on all parts. It now took up nearly 2 storeys on one wall! It also projected outward as the position of the elements mattered to produce and sustain the crystal.

The single crystal setup alone was nearly as big as the Nautilus height and at least a third of its volume!

Fortunately, he did not need full scale to test his theories. He only needed it to see how big a grade 7 harmonic crystal had to be.

That was the other problem he ran into. He wanted to stick to grade 6 as that was much smaller but the amount of Qi needed to sustain it was actually more than grade 7. It seemed that despite being isolated in a sphere, the harmonic crystal still tried to sync with the exterior world.

It meant when he tried to mimic the conditions he felt when fighting Wen, a grade 6 took far more work and power to just sustain it, let alone use it!

He could try later to figure out a better method. It was similar to how his first sky ship was fairly small inside but the exterior was nearly as large as later versions due to how much he had built into that first hull.

Lind crossed his lab to a set of small scale infusion models. He had actually been narrowing down what he needed. His desire was not destruction but a kind of resonance that would allow power to be built up between the harmonic crystals.

If not for his time in Rakathi, he would have no idea where to start!

The harmonic crystals formed in the ravines that people lived in had been very instructive to the Moebius Sect.

He now applied all he could from his notes to reproduce various crystals. Some were easier, especially related to his old friends but it was much slower going to improve the grades on those crystals.

His own harmony was child's play. He could create any grade he wanted nearly instantly.

The others, however, had to slowly work their way up. In essence, he had to nurture them without going too fast. He also had to be careful of the Laws interfering as well. If a harmony of strength was being grown, the Laws of Endurance, Pain, and so forth could infuse as well.

Without a cultivator to manage it, however, it would then shatter!

The broken crystals were instructive and Lind was actually learning far more about harmonies than he had in a very long time. He now had a much better grasp of how Laws affected them and how they could be further improved.

His own sliver began to advance steadily into high Sliver Tier!

He also discovered that like the harmony inside his dantian, the crystals had variations inside their grades beyond quality.

Just as his harmony was now a Living Law, he felt that the quality of Laws in the crystals varied massively.

A low grade 5 crystal should not have Laws, but they did! It was very faint but it confirmed his theory that harmonies were closely tied to Laws even at the Soul Realm!

No wonder it was so damned difficult to advance! Laws were far beyond Soul Realm cultivators' ability to even perceive let alone study!

As he studied them, he began to wonder how lower realm 6 elementals could benefit from his research. He annotated everything for later study.

It took almost a year of experimenting before he hit the next wall, or rather, he found the dead end of his simplistic idea.

While different harmonies could resonate and produce greater power between that interaction, it always destroyed them. Without fail, he never preserved the integrity of multiple harmony crystals inside a single glass container.

He sat at his desk in frustration. Why was it not working?!

It should. All the math and comprehension he had seemed to indicate it should work but instead he got destruction every time!

Was that how atom bombs were discovered? In the race for new energy, they accidently realized the potential for it to be a weapon? He knew the history vaguely as he never delved into it but that was something he realized.

More than one harmonic crystal could make a devastating explosion if improperly used. He pictured the crystals grown in the ravines in aggravation only to freeze.

He recalled in high detail the massive structures of harmonic crystals peacefully sitting together with no sign of any issue. Why? Why did he overlook that?

He then dove deep into his memories until he could almost feel the dry air of the Rakathi Wastes as he looked down at one of the ravines. The dry wind was starting to get more moisture as the land recovered.

He could even taste the meat cooking on a spit not faraway as the memory came to life for him. He saw with his Eyes the complex flow of Qi and realized how little he had taken in back then.

He had perfect recall thanks to his many refinements of his body and transformations. Since he had no race memory to burden his faculties, it was his own life that was crystal clear and he realized how powerful that ability was.

Things he could not perceive before were now clear to him!

Unlike the natural Qi that could vary wildly depending on the condition of the world, he saw something stunning now when looking back at his memory.

All the Qi was moving in an intricate choreography around the crystals and the ravine. It was glorious and beautiful. He slowly peeled it back and understood his error.

He was forcing the issue by treating the harmonic crystals as ingredients. It was not a puzzle but a dance. He had to find the right music for what he was trying to achieve!

He opened his eyes and looked at his equipment and frowned. He realized it was too simple for what he needed. He could not just create a single harmonic crystal, he had to create all he needed at once but if he screwed it up, the destruction would level the building at least.

He started over and began to experiment slowly to see what he could learn. The smile on his face was missed by his own senses but any that saw it knew he was inspired. It was the same smile he had when pushing the boundary of his weaving and elixirs. It was the same smile when he grasped how to Forge at last.

It was the smile of understanding and seeing the path forward. The world was changing once again!
