Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 851 - 850 - Clan Head Meeting

Chapter 851 - 850 - Clan Head Meeting

Wen was relaxing in a simple courtyard with an open ceiling to the sunlight streaming from the blue sky. She had fully recovered from her battle but her grandfather was still in her bad books.

He had let his overprotectiveness take him too far but also his thirst for real battle too. She smirked at how guilty he looked as he pleaded for her forgiveness.

One of the most powerful Sunfire Elders was begging her in full view of anyone to see.

She looked at her reflection in the small fountain she had set up in the center. It was very small but it was soothing. It also let her grasp the Dao of the Sun better as it danced on the water droplets as it cycled up to flow down back to the base.

It had no statues or anything else, it was just a simple spout in a stone ring.

The corners had herbs and flowers to bring a feeling of peace from the small gardens. She bathed in the sunlight as her skin flickered with crimson gold scales.

"My Lady, the Head has called for you." She looked up to see a World Realm boy bowing low with dark brown robes. His eyes were downcast but she smiled at him before flitting across the space between.

"Little cousin, you need to relax more." The boy flinched as he looked up. One of his eyes was pale amber, but the other was dark red. Despite many dragons living at the temple, some human descendants had been staying when the Cataclysm fell.

They were not exactly human as their dragon blood was strong but many dragons denigrated them. Over the last million years, many of them had passed on but the Sunfire Clan actually made a point to nurture those of their blood.

Still, they could hold no power and often acted as servants, but the boy in front of her was given to Wen when he was little. She enjoyed interacting with him back then as he had been so innocent and easy to impress.

Now, he was so solemn and distant. She always called him 'Little Cousin' but the generation was quite distant from her.

"The High Priestess has sent an acolyte." Wen dropped her smile instantly.

She patted his head and left to go to the Clan Head's quarters. She knew where they were since they were her father's quarters now.

Their clan space was not overly large. Even before the Cataclysm, the clans usually simply had branches setup near the temple to send the young for training or if they wished to become an acolyte of the temple.

When the massive hunts started, the temples became a safe haven as only complete idiots would attack anywhere with multiple peak Shard Tier elites let alone dragons with millions of years of experience.

Wen was wistful for the days she wandered the skies but now, she could only watch the world die.

It took little time to reach the largest room in the complex. The pale halls were mostly wood but had vivid colors as well as a few paintings on the way but the room in front of her was stone.

It was dragonstone. Literally stone forged by dragon fire. There were as many versions of the stone as there were races of dragons. The only requirement to make the stone was a dragon at least the Heaven Realm and grade 6 to 7 stone material that was compatible to the innate element a dragon would use.

As they were light and fire for the most part, the dragonstone was literally called Sunfire Stone. It was highly desired as it had the innate ability to light and warm a home without destroying the wood around it.

That was only a basic application as if they were used to make a building, it made an impressive catalyst for formations of incredible power of lightning, light, fire, and so forth.

In the chamber, Wen found her father in a small form of his dragon body. He took up the back wall but he was much larger in his natural state. He held dragon form to mean it was a serious matter.

An acolyte with their shifting violet robes stood to the side but she also saw her grandfather and several other elders in human form with them.

Wen felt disconcerted as normally she and a few of her generation would be included in such a meeting. What was going on?

[Ah, Wen. I apologize but I was unsure what the High Priestess wanted with us but I am happy to say we have good news.] Her father's voice entered her mind but she found that curious.

They were all dragons in the room. While humans and other races would not understand their natural voice, dragons of course would understand each other.

So why was her father using a mental connection to speak to her?

"Lady Suneater. The High Priestess has decided to reveal the fact a True Lord candidate has been chosen. True Lord has already had some beneficial effects but he has requested resources that your clan has much of. He has openly stated a desire to pay for them, but the Temple would appreciate giving them to him." Wen slowly nodded as that was only expected.

If a True Lord Candidate had truly been chosen, then it was not exaggerating to call it a miracle. The Celestial Fields were in worse than a precarious state. They were flat out dying.

A True Lord Candidate could buy them considerable time if the legends were true.

Still, her confusion only grew as she had nothing to do with resource distribution. Her primary function was to train and hone her combat ability for when it was needed.

The silence stretched as she noticed her grandfather looked irritated. His face was closer to crimson than pale showing he was quite frustrated.

"We, of course, sweat to help the True Lord Candidate in any way we can." For just an instant, she saw her father flinch. Her crimson and gold eyes narrowed at that.

"We are pleased to hear that as you will be coming with me, Lady Suneater." Wen felt her blood flow faster as she was feeling like a battle was coming.

She looked around the room but no one would look her in the eye.

A bad feeling started to build in her heart but before anything else could happen, a tiny laughter filled the room from the entrance.

"It is so warm! It is sparkly too! Do you see it, Big Brother? The stone is almost alive!" A little girl with pale golden skin and adorable looks came in with a man in black and emerald robes. The colors shifted but his presence drew all the dragons instantly.

Wen felt the desire to kneel but she recognized the man. His emerald eyes swept the room and sensed the tension.

"My pardon, I am still getting used to this." The feeling of wanting to kneel got weaker, but that was all. Wen noticed her grandfather actually paled as his actions back when Lind arrived was likely going through his head.

"You were mean to Big Brother!" The strange girl flew across the room revealing she was in the Moon Tier! How old was she to be so far along?!

The room then watched as the old man was brought low by a child! He put up no defense and no one stopped it at all!

"Hope, that is enough. He had already paid more than enough." Wen did not sense any hostility from him and Hope stuck her tongue out before going back to looking at the Sunfire Stone.

"True–" Lind held up a hand as the acolyte started to address him.

"I am in no way qualified to be more than I am. I have passed 2 Inheritances but that is only a beginning. I have been taught harshly how little I have delved into the path of cultivation." Wen felt like he had indeed become much more profound compared to the last time they fought.

[Your humility is a good thing, Lind Frey.] Lord Sunfire bowed before looking at Wen. [We were just discussing your need of some resources from us.]

Lind glanced around and seemed confused about the tension he still saw.

"Is there an issue with the list I sent?" Wen could see why he would think that but she too wanted to know what was going on now.

{We are reviewing them but there is no issue there. However, we did have an issue we needed to address when you arrived.] Lord Sunfire then turned back to her and silence ensued until a subtle pressure built up once more.

"Acolyte, please excuse us." Lind suddenly spoke and all felt a tremor in their hearts. It was not the feeling of reverence but of controlled anger.

The acolyte bowed and left before her father could say anything but no one said a word about it.

Lind stepped up to be in front of her father but he said nothing as Hope simply moved around the room making the only sounds with her small feet.

Her father then glanced away which told her they were talking but she felt no mental emanations at all!

"I see. I am afraid I do not have the power to grant that wish." All the elders looked stunned but Wen was getting angry. The next words had it all drain away.

"Lady Ethry is my first broodmate and I have other wives as well. They are my equals and besides, none of you asked her what she wants." His voice was cold as he turned from her father and then bowed to her!

"Lady Wen, you are free to choose your path always. That will never change so long as I live." He then collected Hope and left.

Wen slowly stared down her father and the elders as they all broke out in cold sweats.

"Anyone care to explain why you tried to marry me off without even asking me?!" Her voice shook the stones in the room and many flinched as her power was remarkable.

Thank the spirits the True Lord was a sane man! Wen began interrogating her family and did not stop for several days afterward!
