Chapter 843 - 842 - Trial of Life Part 3
Chapter 843 - 842 - Trial of Life Part 3
A thousand years passed and Helia was immersed in battle. She did anything to get stronger but Lind fought hard to anchor her.
He understood well the desire for revenge and that it had to be tempered with wisdom to not let it consume your soul. He watched as Helia advanced in the guild for a time before moving on to sects and empires for greater opportunities.
She heeded his advice as he had long told her his history of his own revenge. He did not deny her the chance but told her life was not about only that. She was saved by her parents to be more and she carefully kept that ultimate goal in mind.
Revenge was her right but not her purpose. Lind sometimes had to work hard to remind her of that. Especially after Yuna was murdered.
A decade after Yuna learned Helia was their daughter, she was killed.
Some said she took a bounty too hard for her, but Lind knew. He knew the moment he saw her body. Her meridians had been shattered one at a time and then her dantian was saved for last.
Someone had tortured her to death and was much stronger than her. Yuna was obsessed and had leapt too far too fast. She drew attention and died for it.
Helia had raged and wanted to go after them but Lind stopped her. He had dangled something precious. He knew how to make Helia massively stronger and also keep her sane.
Dragon blood.
Helia was half human and her dragon blood was passive but still very much a part of her. It needed a catalyst to bloom and he knew how to get it.
Flood dragons, drakes, and other descendants of dragons had trace amounts that could be distilled. Helia was an elixir master that he guided down the path but hid from all. No one knew she could make elixirs at all.
It was an ace that allowed her to quietly collect impure blood vials without anyone the wiser. It took over a thousand years to get what he needed but finally they had enough.
Distillation was a slow and methodical process but Helia now stared at a vial of pure dragon blood essence. It was a small jade vial but it was brimming with draconic power.
[I will guide you but you must face the transformation yourself.] Lind did not lie as Helia slowly nodded.
This was a key step to her revenge but also becoming closer to her mother. She was now a peak Moon Tier but her foundation was solid and she was long ready for the Sun Tier. Lind had made her wait as he wanted her transformation as part of her last step before immortality.
She downed the blood and it burned as her heart throbbed. She felt pain unlike anything she had felt before in her life!
[Do not let go of Samon, he is a part of you too!] She heard his words and concentrated on her parents. She was of both races and would not let her father go.
Her body cracked and bled as impurities were purged from her body en masse! Her skin fell off her flesh and blood poured everywhere, but she refused to give in! She felt her very cells being ripped apart but did not yield to the power of the blood!
"I–will–choose–my–own–path!" She barely spoke as her body convulsed before pain like nothing she had expected rocked her body. Her limbs extended and changed as her muscles changed shape as well!
Her organs grew larger for the most part while some were discarded. She nearly blacked out but Lind was there. She could feel him watching over her and she refused to give in to the blackness that called her.
Days passed and screams passed her throat but Lind never judged her. He simply was there as a comfort as everything finally settled.
When it was all over, a dragon 30 meters long with massive wings passed out in the small valley they chose to face the transformation. Its violet scales were slightly paler than her mother's but Lind smiled.
She had done it!
Her dantian was still human but she was a dragon! She had been a tri-elemental but with his teachings, she had mastered all 6 elements with ease!
He wondered still what the trial was but he could only deal with the events as they happened.
Helia spent a week asleep before awakening as a dragon. She wept openly and felt the truth of Lind's words. She was not just about avenging her parents but living to her fullest as well. She was a Sun Tier now!
She had a lot of training to do but her lifespan had increased massively so she had time.
She trained under Lind's guidance and spent the next 500 years reaching the peak of the Heaven Realm. She learned how to make elixirs to support herself and touch on grade 7 as well.
Once all that was done, she prepared to finally become an Immortal. Her speed was stunning for most as humans often took 2 to 3 thousand years to reach it, but she had barely been alive for over 1100 years.
Even dragons took far longer to reach that realm, but she was ready!
"Lind, no matter what happens, thank you." He sent his well wishes to her but he could only watch as a terrifying tribulation gathered. She was not a divine dragon so she had to endure the test like anyone else.
It was horrible.
Her scales shattered and blood flowed like rivers as she faced 7 rounds of the tribulation. It was quite good but she was barely alive when it was over.
It took over a year for her to recover before she could even stabilize her cultivation. Lind did his best but Immortals were different. He had finally reached the end of his guidance for her in cultivation for the most part.
Qi was one thing, but Laws were severely limited for him. He had ascended not long after becoming Immortal and the current state of the Celestial Fields stunted his growth.
Helia actually taught him at that point. She sought out other Immortals and learned a great deal that was helpful to him. She refined her Laws and he understood what he had to do to advance.
He had only grasped the very basics of his Laws and had to dive deeper to advance!
Despite becoming Immortal, Helia did not rush to avenge her parents. She recalled the Shard Tier Immortal that came at the end. They were the true culprit.
Despite working hard to advance, Yuna had given her leads that eventually revealed the 6 surviving humans that still lived.
They were only a few hundred thousand years old. She had time.
Lind was helpful as a sounding board but he became far more passive in her cultivation journey.
Still, he gained a lot from that point forward. He took his inspirations and helped Helia where he could but she eventually exploded past him.
She only took another 500 years to become a Shard Tier. She still thanked him as it was his solid foundation that led her to such a quick achievement.
He doubted that. Her ability to delve deeper into her Laws was nothing short of miraculous. Combined on top of that she mastered her abilities as a dragon fairly quickly.
It was only after that and becoming a Shard Tier that she approached the Obsidian Clan. As their name implied, they were a dragon clan that lived in dormant volcanoes and had dark scales.
They had deep connections to the earth and fire Qi. They also were purists. They believed humans could be effective tools but that was all. The cities and villages under them were rather rudimentary but if a human served well, they could advance far in cultivation.
It took the better part of 3 centuries before Helia found her targets.
They were all men, but they had been heavily rewarded over 2 thousand years ago and had all become Shard Tiers.
She found them running lands with slaves and demons to boot. They were cruel taskmasters as they treated all beneath them as disposable tools.
Women were mere playthings to them and children were pawns to alleviate their boredom. They even pre-planned some battles between their scions for fun!
They watched their children die and laughed about it!
Helia had no pity for them but she was careful. She infiltrated a celebration of their ascension to true powerhouses. They got together and had a huge party as they used local girls as toys for their amusement and did not care if they had loved ones already in their lives.
Immortals were debased creatures in the current world Helia lived in. It took little effort to get in as she was far more beautiful after her transformation. Her body was voluptuous and much closer to her mother's but her face remained like her father's .
She let the 6 fools include her in the group they would take but before the night was over, all 6 were dead. The women wept openly in joy as they were not taken by the monsters that had ruled their lands for 2 thousand years.
Helia slipped away and advised the others to do the same. It had been too easy with her draconic blood to kill them but vengeance was not her ultimate goal. Living was.
One target remained but she was patient. A Shard Tier could live for over 3 million years if they were human, so it was plenty of time.
Lind watched it all and reeled her in as needed but he felt something wrong. Something bad was coming.
