Chapter 835 - 834 - Clan Honor
Chapter 835 - 834 - Clan Honor
Lind felt sore and exhausted but happy to be alive. He felt a soft sensation on his back that was similar to a feather bed, but then it moved!
He carefully opened his eyes to find he was on the back of a dragon with Hope clinging to him with red eyes.
[YOU IDIOT! BATTLE FUELED MORON! THE ORDER WAS TO TEST HIM, NOT KILL HIM!] A voice he recalled hearing just before passing out came to his mind but then he realized he was under the sun once more!
He also felt rich Qi and full Laws all around him!
He slowly looked to his right and saw a stunning sight. The old man was kneeling looking guilty and pale as a soul loomed over him at her full size. A robed figure was holding some kind of artifact that resonated with spiritual Qi.
"The rules state he must rise above all challenges or die! He failed, so I was just–] A massively powerful aura slammed into him and made him crumble.
[What part did you just leave out?!] The old man pouted of all things!
"The tests of those above their realm cannot be lethal unless they are deemed irredeemable, otherwise they are restricted from killing." He mumbled it but Lind heard it clearly.
[And what did you do?] The giant head was practically pushing the old man into the dirt and grass. He actually whimpered!
"He hurt Wen! My honor–" Now he was flattened into the ground. No blood came forth but a crack was distinctly heard that made Lind's current bed flinch. He had to agree, that had to hurt!
[Clan honor means nothing if you do not hold your own!
Would you kill someone that saved and protected a welp? Someone that returned my beloved to me with his soul alive and all his remains to join me in repose?! Tell me, what does clan honor demand then?!] Lind knew that argument was not entirely valid as his existence was something he did not fully grasp yet, but still, he would not argue if it saved his life at that moment.
"W-what welp?" The old man actually seemed stunned but all were surprised when a dark skinned man suddenly appeared.
"If I might bring some peace here. I am Haro. I believe this will resolve the misunderstanding." A slip was then summoned from the ring and Ethry was displayed teaching aether beasts at the Moebius Sect.
She also left a few messages and there was one happily cooing at Hei while LInd asked why he could not hold his own son.
The dark aura vanished as the dragon soul transformed into a familiar beauty. She was the spitting image of Ethry!
A gentle and yearning look came over her as she watched the projection cycle several times. Lind now realized he had something to do.
His grunt drew the eyes but he waved off any help as he slowly knelt on the back of the dragon.
"This unworthy son sees Mother-in-Law and is glad to be of service." Blood coughed up after that and the old man actually started panicking.
[Take him to the healing ward, now!] The dragon shifted but he felt an aura lock him and Hope in place. He did not resist but smiled a little as they left to reassure her. He was not so easy to kill.

Victus felt all his anger drain away as the ryuu of silver and blue took away the troublesome man.
He had let his anger get the best of him at the last moment. His pride and the mark against his clan blinded him to his original intent.
[I beg ancestor's forgiveness.] He bowed with his face to the ground and waited for judgment.
[She's alive and has a child. I have a grandchild!] Victus understood the feeling but did not move. He would die if he did. He had gravely messed up and made his dishonor far worse.
The soul of the ancestor was getting tired but she clearly wanted to follow the boy and girl.
"Ancestor, time is almost up. Please return to your repose. I will have the man brought to you in due course." The acolyte spoke up as the artifact had started to flicker. It was a simple object but it had limits.
[Of course, I will go back to my mate. As for you! Your granddaughter will deal with you!] The dragon soul slowly shrunk until it vanished into the artifact. The acolyte bowed and left as her robes shimmered with violet and black reflections in the sunlight.
Victus broke out in a cold sweat.
He almost wished the ancestor had killed him! He would rather face a thousand Fiends than the wrath of his granddaughter! She would yell at him!
"Spirits above, I beg mercy!" He still had his head down but slowly raised his head up only to see a gorgeous woman tapping her foot not far from him with the same gold and crimson eyes as his own.
"There will be no mercy, Grandfather!" There were screams and the sounds of battle for sometime near the entrance to the Sacred Paths but no one sane dared go near them.

Lind had always thought elixirs were miraculous items that could make pills seem just too inefficient but he was proven sorely wrong. A few mid grade 7 pills and he was suddenly all better!
A healing, Qi recovery, and something called Law Resonance pill made him feel almost back to peak condition. His odd sliver made it that the pills were not perfectly able to take him all the way there, but he did not complain.
He also felt like he had gained a lot of insights as his cultivation finally progressed more than it had in a very long time. He had barely entered the Sliver Tier but now he was at the peak of the low tier after that last battle!
Such speed was terrifying and if anyone knew of it, they would be shocked near to death!
Hope refused to leave his side and he could not blame her. The men and women around him were incredibly beautiful. Some, he could tell which version of dragon they were as the broader shoulders indicated the ones with wings or not.
It was not universal but on an instinctual level it seemed to match up.
"What will happen now?" Hope's tiny voice snapped him out of his introspection. He did not have a specific answer but he could guess at least one thing.
"I suspect I will pay honor to my ancestors." His words seemed to receive approving nods from those examining him.
A few frowned as they felt something off but he reassured them he was fine. He meditated for a short time to complete his recovery before one of the hooded figures entered his room.
It was a small room already but with 4 people it was damned crowded. The attendant bowed and left. Lind noted the robes were gold and silver for the healer with him but it was not their scales!
They were actual robes!
The hooded figure had violet and black but it was not sinister. It felt restful if he was to try and put a word to it.
"Honored guest, your ancestors await your presence. The young girl cannot join you but we will keep her safe nearby. She will be able to walk with you until we reach the Gate of Death." The name did not inspire confidence but he suspected it was a graveyard of sorts.
Hope was not happy but he agreed. They left the small white room and he finally got a good look at the larger facility. There were many such rooms joined to a main hall where supplies and other people moved.
Not all were perfectly human and showed they were Star or Moon Tier dragons.
The pale white walls were all of stone and he could not determine the light source until his Eyes saw a simple refraction formation for the sunlight outside!
It was an ingenious and economic use of formations.
They quickly came out onto a street but it was cobblestone and massive compared to any human street he had ever seen. The need was unknown as while the dragons often had larger forms even as humans, there were not nearly enough to justify the wide street.
He saw a towering structure on a small mountain to his left but the figure took them to the right. He tried to take in what he could but it was really a settlement more than a temple like he expected.
Stalls hawking some goods with all the usual cries seemed lifted from a human city. That was until a massive shadow covered the sky and landed on the massive street.
The size suddenly made far more sense. Why change size if you are in a hurry?
The trio were not stopped, in fact the crowd parted in front of the hooded figure until they left civilization behind.
A familiar Qi curtain could be seen in the distance but before that was a place Lind recognized in style if not in function. A massive metal gate was the only entry to an enclosed area where the fog of spirits was visibly apparent.
"Beyond the Gate of Death, they await you. Fear not, you have retained your clan honor and proven your tenacity against impossible odds. The other ancestors will welcome you." Lind bowed and then reassured Hope he would be back.
The metal gate had no guard but it did not need one. It was not exactly the dead on the other side, but living souls with more than enough power to squash even an Immortal like a bug!
He took a breath and then pushed on the gate before stepping into another world.
