Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 830 - 829 - Reap what is Sown

Chapter 830 - 829 - Reap what is Sown

Lind was connected to the key formations and used his aura to examine all he could do.  No doors could stop him, but that was not all.  He followed the flow of Qi until he saw all it could do.

The formations were basic defense and security but the hodgepodge of others laced into it made him sneer.

His mind hijacked those primitive formations and sounds began to reach him.

[Those old fools are finally dying!  We can finally wring those ants for all they are worth rather than slowly eke out a life.]

[We can also put those dragons in their place!  How dare they treat us like children!]

[Heaven, please help Lady Ren endure.  The citadel will splinter without her.]

[Pray all you want, it won't save you from what is to come once that old witch is dead!]

[I did it!  I killed him…]

Lind frowned as the majority were clearly idiotic fools planning how to self-destruct once Ren was dead.  It also seemed a few had gotten a head start as he found a few old men dead by the hands of others.

It seemed the recent effect of Wen Sunfire lit a shift in the citadel that was not intended.  The older generation could not adequately withstand the power of a perfect foundation while the young saw their chance to take over.

There were vanishingly few cheering for Ren to hold on but they were usually weaker cultivators serving the same younger Immortals who seemed to have enslaved them.

"This will be unpleasant."  It was easier to fight Fiends but humans were shades of gray and black.  The ones that killed the older Immortals were not a concern, but some were just talking.

Reality could be a harsh teacher that curbed their greed or the citadel could nearly collapse and face consequences another way.  Yet, he looked back at the closed door behind him and made a choice.

"I will safeguard your home.  Rest well."  He glowed with emerald light and activated the formations.  Rather than actively go out himself, he used their own formations against them. It also saved him a ton of Qi that way.

"You reap what you sow."  He showed no mercy as the citadel lit up in emerald light.

A young girl at the World Realm was cowering in front of her master.  He was a Sliver Tier Immortal.  She was not bleeding but heavily bruised yet that was as far as he dared so long as Lady Ren was alive.

There were strict rules all Immortals had to live by and the penalties were harsh for abuse of the lower realms.

His dark hair was cut very short and his robes were pristine as he stood over her straightening his sleeves.

"Why do you make me keep teaching you your place?  Once we take over, you will join the other ants to serve as you should.  At our whim, whatever we decide will be your fate going forward."  She whimpered as she knew well what her fate would be.

She had admired Immortals her whole life until she served them. Only Lady Ren lived up to her expectations.

She was looking down, so she missed the change in the room.  The arrays all lit up which confused the man but before he could analyze it, beams of pure spirit Qi slammed into his body.

A cracking sound was heard and his body withered visibly in the next few moments as he fell to his knees.

"My–dantian–"  He only spoke 2 words before he aged quickly and died from the shock.

She looked up and terror filled her but nothing else happened.  The arrays continued to glow but she could only sit and wait for what came next.

"Ah, this wine is the best.  We really need to get those useless villages making more for us.  They have it too easy."  A pair of young men were getting drunk as a corpse cooled behind them.

It was an old man who looked shocked at the end but they clinked their glasses as they celebrated killing their former master.

The glee they took was because the reward promised was the chance to advance to the Immortal Realm.  They could finally become the true elites of the citadel.

The 2 fools were laughing and getting drunk as the array activated and pierced their skulls and hearts with lances of steel from each wall.  They were frozen in horror as blood flowed and life drained from their eyes.

The lances were retracted and only 3 corpses now lay in the room.  The glow intensified until the once dead Immortal flinched and then slowly took a breath.  The body was intact but the soul had been in danger.  It bought just enough time unlike a few others throughout the citadel.

"Bas–tards…"  The weak voice was followed by the old man concentrating on his injuries and a pill appeared just above his mouth that he quickly swallowed.

The citadel filled with screams, sudden silence, and other signs of attack but none could alert anyone as nothing responded.  The emerald glow became apparent outside the walls and the city became afraid as lines lit up along many of the streets as the defensive arrays all activated all at once!

Were they under attack?  What was going to happen to them all?

Many prepared to run to the main structure while others activated secret passages to flee but were stunned when none of them worked.

Once a dome of emerald light lit up over the entire city, a symbol appeared at the very center of the peak of it.

It was the face of a dragon!  The massive maw was opened wide looking down at them as the giant teeth caused fear in all of them.

Lances of lightning, spears of earth, and various projectiles slammed across the city.  It was not a general attack and many poor residents could only watch in terror but none struck them.

A few criminal organizations, reeling from their losses, were wiped out instantly.  No one could resist and the power of an Immortal was clear as day to all.

Why had no one warned them?!  They paid all those resources to ensure their survival but they betrayed them?!

They died never knowing the very Immortals they once paid were already dead.

Nearly a third of the Heaven Realms were killed with almost all the Immortals.  The rot ran deep and all knew it but no one could ever get the power needed to burn it out.

The many organizations did not understand how they were found but a very select few had some artifacts save their lives and they fled.

They tried to leave the city only to find the glowing barrier waiting.  It looked feeble and they launched attacks only to have them bounce back right at them!

All the chaos started and ended in less than a night.

The sun rose on the horizon as Lind released his control.  Finding the criminals was easy as he simply traced the jade stone communication artifacts from before.  The rest was only the citadel's internal formations working for him.

He felt a little tired but it was far better than doing it personally.

"A dragon citadel.  This place was once a dragon fortress but for what power?  Ren said it had been abandoned long ago, why?"  A memory surfaced from long ago.  A tiny egg had led him to meet an Immortal who spoke of something.

A hunt for dragons that was killing a lot of them.  Could there have been more to it?

"Just how much destruction did they bring on all before the final day?"  He had connected some dots as it made sense to keep powerful clans, sects, and other races busy with issues that drew the eye.

Hunts for dragons would certainly draw a lot of eyes for rewards, materials, or siding with the dragons as well.  Who knew how many such actions were going on and for the purpose of hiding the ultimate plan?

It was a leap but it reeked of a certain race.  Fiends.

He returned to Ren's room and saw she was peacefully sleeping.  He checked her condition and administered an elixir to be safe to repair some of the damage to her meridians due to age.  He could not stop death but he could give her a little more time.

The special jade stone lit up and he carefully removed it from the desk.

[Human!  What has happened?!  We felt a reaction all the way over here!]  A male voice boomed in his head but Lind knew it was a dragon.

[Ren is sleeping.  I am Lind Frey.  You have already not impressed me with sending Wen Sunfire to attack me.  I will be coming to address that soon.  Any action against me will be considered war.  Ask the Fiends how that goes.]  Lind may have grasped that they were testing him but he did not like it.

Nothing was worth involving innocents in his way of thinking.

There was only silence before another voice came through that was far more powerful.  Shard Tier?!  How?!

[Junior, you should know your–]  Emerald flames lined his body  as they encased the jadestone.

The room faded and a dark space appeared where a wild man with dark gray hair looked surprised to see him.  The massive muscles and crimson chainmail confirmed he was from the Sunfire Clan.

[You want to test me, test me.  Involve innocents again and I will kill without mercy.  You have unleashed a tragedy over here.  I am in control of the citadel now.  I will be coming and nothing you have can stop me.]  Lind's ephemeral dragon form appeared and the old man's eyes widened.

His eyes were dark red but a bit milky.  The feeling Lind gave off was also unique to progenitors that no one could deny.

A smile stretched across his face but before he could do anything else the communication ended.

Lind sighed as he knew that smile.  Another battle maniac seemed to await him.  He was cursed, absolutely cursed.  He then began to send out commands and messages to his friends with Yue and the functionaries of the citadel.

It was time to finish cleaning house.
