Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 814 - 813 - Integration of Bloodlines

Chapter 814 - 813 - Integration of Bloodlines

Lind took a few months to recover and no further contact was heard directly from the humans.  There were signs they were trying to retrace the route Bui took, but there was no chance of them figuring that out with the orders Lind gave him.

He was glad to be fully recovered but now he was facing a new challenge.  He wanted to help Gel to awaken her Akashic Bloodline.

"I recognize the validity of your process but I am too far along in cultivation."  Gel was actually fascinated to learn someone had mastered the physique.

"I was going to start with how and why you suppressed the physique in the first place?"  He still had not heard the story as he had focused on his recovery.

Orion was in the corner, still restricted by the rope and some simple formations Yue had set up for him.

"If she had the Akashic Physique, she would have been killed at birth.  It was the law."  He spoke up and made Lind frown deeply.  Why would they kill such demons?

Both Gel and Orion seemed to find it accepted as a fact but his confusion seemed clear.

"According to legends, the first demons, the Akashic Demons, refused to kneel to the Fiends.  They were killed in a horrific war and it is taught to us that their rebellion caused the death of billions of demons."  Gel spoke up and Lind felt shocked.

The Blood Empire, supposedly a tool of the Fiends, had tried to take Kal by any means but he now wondered if the wild version was not the issue, but what Kal had become.

In the war against the Blood Empire, Kal had been a devastating power all on his own.  Were they just looking to kill them if they could control the physique?

"How is it suppressed?"  Lind wanted to understand the most important point.

Gel looked at Orion but worrying at that moment was pointless.

"When a child is born to my family, their blood is tested.  We have, or rather had, artifacts that could resonate with the physique.  Even if it is born active, it can be suppressed before the Body Tempering Realm."  That little detail made Lind very interested.

Artifacts that could test for physiques were of strong interest to him as Kal had been found after he started cultivating.

His physique had partially activated and if he exerted his will, demons would obey.  It was severely limited, but still easy to start looking into it when discovered.

"Once a child is confirmed to have the physique, they will be immersed in a bath to restructure their bloodline with bestial bloodlines.  The stronger the better."  He was confused.  How could mingling another bloodline suppress such a powerful physique?

"Interesting.  It must be full integration or it would be no different from having a beast as an ancestor."  Orion suddenly spoke up as he seemed to find the topic fascinating.

Integration?  Lind closed his eyes and he contemplated what they were saying.

It was common for everyone in the current age, even up here in the nearly dead realm, to have many different races in the bloodline.  Some were slowly overpowered by stronger bloodlines if actively pursued.

Dragons were a good example of that.

As their bloodlines diffused, they lost divinity and could become drakes, flood dragons, and other myriad lesser races down to even certain snakes.

Reversing that process was possible but would purge the weaker bloodlines as the desired one was strengthened.

"So they use beast bloodlines to seal the physique?"  Gel nodded.  It was a delicate process as too much would give the demons bestial features giving away the process.  A baby born without any sign of near ancestors of beasts, would draw serious investigation.

Certainly if too many showed up, the clan or family would be harshly ripped apart based on what Gel and Orion stated.

That information complicated any step to help Gel but his Eyes told him her physique was intact despite what both the demons told him.

He loomed over her as his eyes seemed to strip away all her secrets but confusion crossed his face.

"There is more, isn't there?"  Gel swallowed and nodded.

"The child cannot make any Oaths, obviously but the bloodline alone has been proven to be not wholly effective on its own.  A weaver is brought in and carefully engraves a Soul Seal to empower the bloodline effect even more."  Both demons flinched as Lind's aura flared.

"Why?  Why go so far when death would be easier?"  His words were barely constrained from releasing his anger.

Orion had said execution was the result the Fiends wanted, so why safeguard such a dangerous child?

"Power, it is all related to power.  Even sealed, the Akashic Physique allows a demon to advance quickly.  I am only 150 years old and already in the Sky Realm."  That was a decent speed but Kal in the Heaven Realm lands could have blown past her like she was standing still.

The quality of Qi was far better here than other areas but still, he frowned as it was not stable.  The missing Laws could also present an issue even with the demons doing so well.

"Do you know why demons are not suffering the same quality issue other races are?"  Gel and Orion both shook their heads.  It had been worth a shot, but there had to be a reason.

Lind then summoned a few artifacts of his own.  Yue had granted him a few rooms in the upper fortress.

She had no use for them and it took little time for him to clean them out.

Hope was playing with the wolves, literally.  She was treating them like puppies!

She was learning about the world as much as she could before manipulating it further to advance her realm.  It was a strange way to cultivate but Lind also refused to believe there was a hard limit put on her.

It made no sense.

He pushed that aside as he set up a metal table and several beakers with jade stones set in metal brackets.  A simple tray was at the bottom of one that he pulled out and brought to Gel.

"Please give me a few drops of blood.  I will start by understanding your current status and go from there."  It was very similar to a microscope and analyzer mixed into one but it was strictly Qi he was looking for.

Gel easily cut her finger and the blue blood of a demon was revealed but his own nose felt a faint trace of something else.  He could not identify it, however, despite being a divine dragon.

He returned to his newly set up table and the first jade stone lit up as the sample tray was slid into the slot in the base.  It was a simple step of identifying the makeup of materials.

He usually used it to analyze new herbs or even new poisons and acids he might use in future elixirs.  While many sects and powers had records of what was available, their applications in elixirs was severely limited.

The artifact broke down the blood for him and he narrowed his eyes at the results.

[Akashic Demonic blood:  75%]

[Catalyst:  10%]

[Unknown Blood:  13%]

[Traces:  2%]

The limits of his knowledge showed as the analysis could not identify the beast blood, but the mixture surprised him.  As little as 13% could suppress the Akashic Physique?

The next artifact he actually used his own blood and distilled it down to just the purest dragon blood he could get.  He then distilled the Akashic blood as well.

He saw his blood could suppress it with as little as 5% but then there was a violent reaction as the 2 bloodlines clashed.

It told him enough about the various issues the demons faced but clearly the bloodline used was far less powerful than a divine version.

He also confirmed something else too.  It had to be compatible with demonic blood.  His dragon blood reacted violently for some reason but his children were fine, so what made Gel different?

There were various physiques mixed into the many races that could rise up at any time.  He wondered at the discovery but focused on the next part.

He took the last part of the unfiltered blood and tried to see if he could separate it out without damaging it at all.

Previously, he simply wanted to see what it would take to suppress even a damage version of it, but now he wanted to unlock the seal on Gel.

It did not go well at all.

Just trying to extricate the unknown bloodline resulted in cell death.  The Qi ripped it apart like it was paper.  His extraction process from before distilled out all of it but the damage was still there and distilling a living being was not possible without death.

Trying to remove the unknown bloodline also had the same result.  It would not be easy but it ignited curiosity in him.

"You don't happen to know what that bloodline is?"  He looked up but Gel shook her head.

"I was too weak.  If I was at least a Moon Tier, I would be initiated into the process but now, they are all gone."  He did not feel guilty about it.  The Starbreaker Empire was his enemy without question.

Still, it made his job a lot harder.  He smiled as he began to devise several tests to run.  He would figure out a way to unlock Gel's physique as he had many ways she could help him.

He would also possibly run into this issue in the future.  Lind set up more artifacts and Gel felt a cold sweat breakout as she wondered exactly how many tests she was about to be subjected to.
