Chapter 700 - 699 - Meeting the Emperor
Chapter 700 - 699 - Meeting the Emperor
The once medicinal-filled halls of the Moebius Sect now had the metallic tang of blood of several races as Romana made her way through the halls. She had often visited her friends over the centuries but now it was just tragic.
She had heard how many had died, especially the aether beasts, and knew it was a sad day. Even just a few moments ago, she heard Lord Han had died from the Fire Hawks. He had survived the battle but his Qi had been too riddled with Fiend Qi to live.
She had no idea he was even there!
How many old friends had passed. She had only known Lady Gua really personally but Lord Han had been kind to help the Moebius Sect find a place to set up as his clan in the mortal realm had been flourishing since he left.
Now he was gone. She had seen the various men and women with bright golden or orange eyes with fiery robes. She saw many missing limbs as well as others but hopefully enough elixirs could be made to fix that issue.
As she walked on she saw Valkyrie with a woman she did not know but was wearing the robes of a Vice Sect Master in the Heavenly Maiden Sect. It would likely make her Melody as Romana knew most of the others.
The 2 only nodded as they moved up the tower until they arrived at a meeting hall that was now guarded by the soldiers with emerald cloaks.
They were peak Sun Tiers but they felt far more powerful to Romana's senses. She had lost track of them often enough to know they were not normal cultivators at all.
"One moment please, the Emperor is settling a…personal matter." Romana likely knew what but Valkyrie's vein throbbed on her forehead.
"Sect Master, if you had read my report, these are the emerald cloaks from the Sanctuary Empire Lind Frey created. Inside the Law Binding, he is the most powerful being." Valkyrie slowly nodded but clearly her pride was not having much.
[I am ready.]
Lind's voice came to all their heads. Romana frowned and even Valkyrie seemed put off. He sounded wrong.
The 2 men opened the door and they saw a shocking scene inside the hall that once had a large table for meetings. There was now a throne! Also, Romana felt like there were more of those soldiers all around them.
There was the projection of a man to the right of Lind as well as Cyntilla and Annabelle with him. That was a bad sign. Romana knew enough about Lind to know he was not clear headed just from having those 2 nearby.
It meant he needed a gentle heart to console him and calm him with a firm hand to keep him on point. His emerald eyes had none of the gentle kindness she was used to either. His face was cold and there was no welcoming nod to her at all.
He merely glanced at them and nodded.
"Some introductions are in order. This is Immortal Linghu, a Sliver Tier currently in possession of the Law Binding itself. He is my subordinate." Right away Lind left Romana shocked.
An Immortal was his subordinate!
"This is his sister Shi and my follower Kin. They are ministers of my Empire and have information at their fingertips we may find useful in negotiations." Romana felt tears form in her eyes. The gentle scholar was gone.
He always had a warrior side but the man in front of her was vastly different. He was a ruler and even Valkyrie was taking it more seriously.
Having an Immortal at his beck and call was not a small thing either.
"The first thing, and most important, is that many Sun Tiers wish to emigrate to break through to the Immortal Realm. They have no need of resources, simply a place they can safely break through." Lind did not stop either as even Valkyrie went wide eyed.
"Exactly how many?" Several people tensed but Lind held up his hands and they calmed down.
"Lady Valkyrie is a low Shard Tier Immortal. If–if Lanbao was still here we would be equals but she is not." His voice nearly broke and Melody almost took a step forward but stopped herself.
Annabelle gently held him and no one made a comment.
Valkyrie even bowed low at the mention of the honorable dragon as she had heard Zerod was dead in large part due to both Lanbao and Lind fighting him.
"Shi, please answer her question." A young woman stepped forward and bowed low to Lind in deep respect before turning to them. Romana understood the message. These people worshiped Lind, not just followed him.
"According to 700 years of study, there are currently at least 10 million citizens ready to attempt their breakthrough, of those it is confirmed only a million could possibly succeed if they all went at once." Romana nearly stumbled just hearing such a number.
How had Lind nurtured that many Immortals?! Such numbers had never been heard of before. Even Valkyrie looked pale but Melody nodded which made Romana even more shocked.
"Understand they have been restricted. Unlike out here, the Law Binding forces a cultivator to stop at the peak of the Sun Tier. Many were already near there 1200 years ago when I liberated them. So they have done nothing but polish and advance in that time. Linghu and Lanbao held many conferences at my request to teach about Laws." Valkyrie was now staring at Lind as if he was a monster!
He COMMANDED 2 Immortals to give lectures?!
Part of the reason Immortals were so rare was not just resources but also comprehending Laws but if one had nothing to do for 1200 years but to study from an expert, of course they were ready!
The estimate was not far off likely either but it showed how unlikely some were to survive.
Further, even if they advanced, the restriction may have other effects on them no one expected.
"Kin." A woman with raven colored hair and pale skin also stepped forward but she bowed low to Lind and slightly to them. She was more open minded than the Shi woman.
"Not all of these people are members of our Empire but Emperor Lind has insisted they are not restricted from leaving if they wish. They will, of course, be unable to return to the Law Binding so if there are those who wish to go to the Law Binding for a time to live away from the war, a limited entry is possible." Romana perked up.
If the Law Binding had a restriction about Immortals, then clearly going back was not possible but Kin seemed to have more to say.
"By current estimates, we could safely absorb 2 to 3 million people at a time but a hard limit at 20 million if no one leaves." Romana doubted they would stay with the restriction unless they had no chance of advancement.
"Would Daoist Linghu offer similar lectures?" Valkyrie's question made Romana rethink her desire. She would sell her soul for a chance to learn from an Immortal.
Kin actually looked sad before looking back at Lind.
"Sadly, while Linghu can help somewhat, his current level would not be as helpful as you hope. The one who was very well versed was…" His voice trailed off as a tear fell down his face. Romana suddenly moved.
The 2 women tried to stop her but Cyntilla pulled her blades and they were held back by her virulent green state.
Romana hugged Lind tight.
"You don't have to do this all at once. You work too hard!" Lind had always been that way. He stiffened at first but then he slowly nodded.
"You are not the same either, Romana. Where is the cheeky attitude?" She smiled as she tightened her hug.
"No need to catch up all at once. We have time for that later." He slowly nodded as she let him go.
"Lanbao was the true expert. She had been an Immortal for over a million years. She was ensnared by the Law Binding long ago when it formed but she taught Linghu for the last 1200 years so he does have some enlightenment just not as much experience." Valkyrie slowly nodded before she paused and clearly decided something.
"You may not be aware, but the Maidens have a ritual we created for the war with the Fiends. Those that have achieved a great victory are enshrined and those close to them speak about them so all can know of them as much as possible. I would be more than happy to hold one for Fellow Daoist Lanbao." Lind glanced at Romana and saw the shock on her face.
"I will not mind that but we dragons have our rituals as well. I know she would want that to be done." Romana's head sharply turned as that choice of wording was a massive change. Valkyrie, however, bowed low.
"I have one last issue to address." Lind spoke and he was back as the Emperor so Romana moved back but not too far. Cyntilla looked with gratitude at her as did Annabelle.
"What is it, your majesty?" Valkyrie was not disrespectful exactly but she was a Shard Tier Immortal so she was above him.
"The Law Binding will collapse in less than 800 thousand years. Rather than wait for all of that to happen, I will be bringing all my people here that wish to come. I will supply them resources. Of course, the Heavenly Maiden Sect branch is yours to do with as you please, but keep that deadline in mind." Valkyrie and Romana both understood what he was saying.
The Moebius Sect was gone. The dream of a simple supportive sect was dead and now a new empire would be born.
"The Sanctuary Empire will settle here. Linghu cannot leave the Law Binding or it will collapse early, but he is my subject. No Immortal can enter so he is the supreme law there. I will have more information to follow but obviously that will take many years to become an issue." They all nodded at his words but Romana glanced around and recalled the ships he called Nautilus Class outside.
Even with what he had right now, he would not be a low level power at all. With that many Sun Tiers and some of them becoming Immortals, he would be easily in high level powers.
That was not a small thing! He was telling one of the leaders of the Alliance what was going to happen!
"That is all I have to say at this time." Lind then stood up and left! Normally, Valkyrie would explode but the situation was a little unique.
"Sect Master, for the record, the Heavenly Maiden Sect branch I lead have myself and at least 200 thousand more ready to attempt to become Immortals." Romana felt dizzy! Valkyrie also was shocked rigid but then quickly understood.
Lind's numbers were a grand total of the entire Law Binding! It meant he was not getting all of the Immortals, just a portion! The entire Alliance could get a massive boost after their recent losses.
All of them, every single power, would have Emperor Lind Frey to thank for that! Forget a high level power, a new supreme power was being born right in front of them!
