Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 687 - 686 - Shadow of the Great One

Chapter 687 - 686 - Shadow of the Great One

Haim had looked as hollow as Lind could ever remember when he communicated that the seers were wiped out.  It had suddenly happened without warning or cause.  There were no injuries, Qi deviation, or poison at all!

He had summoned Lanbao and they found they could not enter Nyota's room!  It was like something stopped even a Shard Tier Immortal!  What had that kind of power in the Heaven Realm?!

As suddenly as the impossible moment started, the door splintered under her strength and they found her barely alive, yet the room looked like something had tried to scorch it!

The level of power both of them felt nearly stopped them cold but Lind's sun flared and his harmony filled the room.  His eyes narrowed as the charred mess began to disappear under his emerald Qi.

Only one thing had such a unique effect, Fiend Qi!

There were none in the Law Binding at all and certainly none as strong as Lanbao!  They had searched high and low to be very damned sure of it!

What bothered him more was that the Law Binding had not reacted at all.  It was as if whatever was behind the attack could simply ignore it!

"Hold her."  Lind worked quickly to administer another demonic elixir, several in fact, while he helped guide the Qi in her body.  Her cultivation had leaped to Moon Tier!  She had not even been ready to try yet!

He also narrowed his Eyes as he felt a very familiar power yet it was not his.  He had felt it before long ago yet it showed up in someone else.  Why?!

He doubted he would get an answer but just as he was about to pick up Nyota, she woke up screaming.

"NOOOOOOO!!!!!"  Her hands were like steel as her eyes were full of something that made Lind's head throb in pain.  He could almost remember something but then it was gone as she realized she was with friends.

"You are alive, Nyota.  It is the same day as when we last spoke but something terrible–"  She held up the shattered jade communication stone and he understood she already knew part of it.

"Come, this room needs work and you need to rest."  He again went to pick her up but she suddenly looked earnestly up at him.

"The Shard Tier Fiend is going to kill your family.  I saw it!  I wanted to warn you when…"  She trailed off as she tried to remember but bluish blood began to flow from her orifices.

"STOP!  Whatever happened, was beyond us.  Do not try to remember or it could destroy you."  Lind had more than enough experience to know that.

She slowly nodded but then looked desperate.

"I don't know which choice but if you wait or force it, that future awaits!"  He slowly nodded but then infused water and fire to knock her out.  She was dangerously low on Qi despite her breakthrough.

"Lind, what could have done this?"  Lanbao was frightened.  He had never truly seen her scared before.  Worried, frustrated, and many other things, but not frightened.

"Something we can't stop but someone did.  Send a mental thanks to the spirits and get Emerald Souls to Haim for collecting Seras and the others.  They will be interred with honor, but I want to see the bodies.  All of them!"  Lind had a bad feeling.

The description was too damned familiar to him!

He also had Linghu reach out to the Moebius Sect to warn them.  Attacks had been happening before but nothing since the last major assault.  Further, the attacks on the Law Binding had stopped some years ago too.

No corpses were left behind but they had never given up trying until about 5 years ago.  They could not see out unless they were attacked or at the very border like he had been back then.

What was that Fiend doing?

Zerod was cultivating with over a million Sun Tier humans in an array when they were suddenly sucked dry!

He felt like his mind was locked in by some attack until a presence he instinctively recognized filled his soul.

[You will be my instrument.  You have failed in your tiny plans, but that will now change.  My gift is given, now go forth.]

A voice filled him as his cultivation suddenly exploded forth!  He sailed past low Shard Tier and broke through all the way to peak Shard Tier!

He was now the strongest being in the Heaven Realm!  No one could stop him!  Even other Shard Tiers would have to kneel before him!

Zerod calmed himself.  The Master of All had blessed him for some reason.  Perhaps his diligence finally paid off but it did not matter.  He could still be killed if he let his newfound power go to his head.

He was like a child given an artifact.  They might be able to activate the power within but had no way to truly control it.  He would need to master his new skills and then plan the new attack.

He sneered as he thought of what was to come.  The Moebius Sect had become a true threat in every facet of the war.  Artifacts that could stop Fiends cold, elixirs that could bring even Immortals back from the brink of death, and weavings that prevented the stealing of souls at every turn!

When did such ants ever stand up to them?!  They had been winning the war for so long, it had become inevitable.  The great Alliance was simply buying time to live.  They had accepted death, but the Moebius Sect breathed new life into them!

The idea of retreating seemed to occur less and less.  The accursed 6 elementals were also getting stronger!  They were the bane of all Fiends!

Their harmonies actively injured Fiends if they tried to feed!

"Widow and Mycea, are you both recovered?"  He called out to them by jade stone.  It was fully converted, just like his pills.

[We are!  Did you hear the voice as well?]

He smiled at their response.  It was the end of the Alliance but their next words made him frown.

[Mycea is back to peak Sliver Tier and I am at the peak now as well!]

They had not broken through?  Why?

He shrugged as perhaps he was meant to lead like always but having all 3 in the Shard Tier would have assured victory.  Perhaps there was a limit to the help offered.

"We must gather and plan.  I will guide you in your new levels while you help me hone my peak Shard Tier power."  He felt the shock from the stone and smiled coldly.  His impossible beauty would have made any human shiver in terror to see at that moment.

He broke the connection as he began to give orders but looked far into the distance at the Law Binding.

The experiment had become futile and it was a waste of Fiends he could not so easily replace if he continued.  Resources were not so easy to raise without enough of them or demons to use as minions.

"You keep cowering in your little corner, safe from us all.  I will break your family and make them my personal resources.  I will ensure their souls are not consumed for a very long time!"  Zerod began to plan as he reached out to various contacts to prepare for the day he attacked.

It was in the midst of that contact that a rumor reached him.

The Moebius Sect had contracted grade 7 masters!  The time frame was not clear but Zerod felt pressure due to the fact that if the grade 7 masters could resolve whatever kept Lind locked away, the damned man would be free before Zerod was ready.

Despite how annoying the other harmonies were, their effects were limited.  Only the thrice damned emerald one was so devastating to them with even a weak version of it!

"I want all the information on what they are working on.  I want the location, personnel, anything!"  Zerod left the orders with his spymasters to get back to him but he did not wait for the knowledge as his goal was still that floating landmass that made up the sect.

"I will kill all your dreams, Lind Frey!"  Zerod walked down from his cultivation cave over the withered corpses all around it.  The snap of bones was heard but it made Zerod only smile.  Soon all the Heaven Realm would be theirs!

The many forces of the Fiends began to move with new purpose.  None knew why but the great Zerod had become motivated in the war and that was all many needed to also be motivated.

The Heavens saw all and its displeasure was felt by many Immortals.  None knew why but something had disturbed the order of Heaven and Earth but the source was clearly not available to be struck.

Some were careful to increase their defenses while others honed their skills for whatever could come.  Regardless, all knew something terrible was coming and they had to prepare.  Blood was going to be shed and it would not be theirs!
