Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 671 - 670 - The Tide Turns

Chapter 671 - 670 - The Tide Turns

The Alliance fighting the Fiends had enjoyed a little over a thousand years of reclaiming land they had lost, the first time in recorded history.  The 6 elementals had allowed for a fortification to be built that was far more resilient than ever before, but all good things come to an end.

Immortal Fiends were not nearly as impaired as Heaven Realm Fiends by the harmonic based formations, weavings, and other 6 elemental based defenses.  It was still something to force 10 Immortals to breach the giant wall that was armed to the teeth against them.

The Moebius Sect supplies were key to many people surviving as well as other powers' pills, pastes, and healers.  Those that had argued the Moebius Sect should be more martial had to swallow their words as only a dedicated power of support could pull off what they did during that defeat.

All the gains were not only lost, but the increased Immortal Fiend activity stretched the Alliance Immortals thin.  Not only did they have to stave off their counterparts, but try to defend the fronts where the Heaven Realms were being pushed to the brink.

The highly coordinated attacks were much more in line with Fiend tactics and worse, it was highly effective.  They did not rush, nor did they over extend.  They methodically reclaimed the lost territory and pushed until they came to something unexpected.

Emerald light flared at ten equidistant points.  It was only at the peak of Heaven Grade 5 but the power was more than enough.  Further, it seemed the scars Lind left in the Fiends were very deep.

The advancement stumbled and in that moment of weakness, waves of harmonic Qi exploded outward into them.  If any doubt remained in the Fiends' minds about Lind being in the Law Binding, the effect of those waves left no doubt!

Any Fiend in the Star Tier and below were killed like a poison had spread among them.  None of their armor or weapons could save them from that wave!  Even the Immortal Fiends backed off.

They erected barriers that fractured simply on contact with the emerald wave!  The retreating Alliance forces breathed a sigh of relief as they reached a new wall that had been Forged by the Moebius Sect recently.

On top of the wall stood a woman with short green hair and a whip on her left hip.  Her white and gold robe at first made people think she was a Maiden but then the giant Moebius Strip on her front showed who she was.

"Lady Shoti, the artifacts burnt out as Lord Frey stated they would.  They are the last of his direct creations we had."  Shoti nodded at the artificer from the sect as she saw the wounded and maimed limped behind the new wall.

"How many Immortal Fiends?"  Her peak Sun Tier aura was clear to all but the artificer consulted what looked a great deal like a tablet but he frowned at the results.

"They obscured our precise count but somewhere around 50 attacked this time."  It was more than the last few attacks but it made Shoti frown.  It was not enough for a final assault as they expected.

Where were the rest of them?  According to various historical records, while the exact number was not clear, it was around 100 or so.  It may seem like only a few compared to the billions of Heaven Realms on both sides but Immortals could wipe the floor with Heaven Realms like they were ants.

"Let Lysanna know to keep our scouts looking sharp–"  Shoti was about to continue when her bracelet lit up.  She quickly put it to her ear and closed her eyes.  Shock flared as she ordered heavy defenses immediately.

The artificers and Forgers scrambled to obey while she looked out at the currently barren landscape.

She could not believe what she had just heard.

[Valkyrie is heavily injured.  Survival is unknown.]

Jorn was barely able to breathe without wincing as he limped into the command tent.  The Heartpiercer Sect had wanted battle but they had gotten far more than they expected.  He smiled widely as he recalled the chaos of the battlefield but frowned as he saw the grim faces of his fellows.

The demons of their sect would be celebrating survival normally but that last battle had clearly been a play on their mania to fight good fights.  In other words, they had been given a distracting toy and fell for it.

The Fiends had tricked them with their own nature.

"You heard?"  Jorn nodded.  It was hard to hide that one of the most powerful Immortals being taken out of action but it was where she fell that was concerning.

"I did not realize that tenacious woman was guarding a whole sect not directly tied to her."  Jorn heard one of his fellows complain but they all owed her.  They had left the Moebius Sect wide open despite the promise to help.

If not for the Maiden Immortals suddenly appearing, the sect would have been breached.  Valkyrie would also be dead if not for something odd that happened.

"Just what was that elixir?  I did not hear of any grade 7 elixir master anywhere?"  Jorn spoke what they all wanted to know.  The prismatic dragon had quickly produced an elixir all could feel in any direction within 50 kilometers.

Grade 7 aura was unmistakable but an Immortal elixir master was damned rare.  In fact, the Fiends made sure to kill or capture such experts as elixirs were far more dangerous than pill makers.

Pills were powerful but limited and making them was arduous but a single elixir could hypothetically have 4 doses in a single vial!

Assuming they had any skill, 3 to 4 vials power batch was not impossible where pills topped out at 1 or 2 usable ones.

The efficiency was just plain unfair!

All the demons quickly looked at the tent's entrance but the lack of alarm made them relax as a demoness entered.  The moment she pulled back her leather hood, all knelt in awe.  The Fang had come.

"You are fools but you did engage Fiends as promised.  My husband has something for your Immortals."  A batch of vials appeared and all felt shocked.  Demonic low grade 7 elixirs!!!

How?!

Cyntilla turned to leave but Jorn reached out.  The man was a low Sliver Tier in the last few centuries due to the very lessons Moebius Sect offered.  How they understood demonic Qi so well was a mystery to him but elixirs were impossible to ignore.

"Is he back?"  Her cold poisonous eyes dimmed and he realized something else was going on.  He let her go as she swept from the tent.  None of them ignored the prize and quickly contacted their sect.  Their losses would be high if they did not act quickly.

Carla took a deep breath as her lungs no longer bubbled with liquid.  She was holding onto a man in golden robes smiling down at her.  The last thing she remembered was taking a sword in the chest but not dying right away.

She had reflexively slammed a ball of flame into the Fiend's face killing him but she should have been dead after that.  How was she alive?

"Calm yourself and circulate the elixir.  You are very lucky that Lady Qing arrived with us to grab anyone alive.  The elixir got to your lungs and spine just in time."  A cold chill filled her soul as Carla's dark skin began to get its color back.

She saw blood and heard screams as healers worked as fast as they could.  The retreat was not bought cheaply but she was just glad to be alive.  She then remembered her brother and sister disciples!

"Th–the others?"  She could barely speak as pure water was conjured for her to drink.  The man frowned as he touched a bracelet on his right arm.  He listened and frowned but thanked whoever it was.

"You are from the Viridian Blossom Sect?"  She nodded and he looked grim as he spoke.  "The majority are dead.  They bought precious time for others to escape much as you did.  We saved some but most were corpses by the time we arrived.  About half your elders and Sect Master survived but they have complications."

She wept as her sun turned fiercely in her dantian.  She needed to break through to save the people she loved but they were dead, again!  He patted her head before another person called to him.

"Rest and we will get you on your feet in no time."  He moved on but her world was falling apart.  Nothing mattered until a gentle hand grasped hers.  She looked up into a very familiar face.

She had not seen that person in over 7 centuries!

"You are alive and saved others.  Do not lose yourself to heart demons here.  There are plenty of true demons to unleash your anger on.  Live and keep their memories alive.  Mourn and remember them all."  Qing smiled down and her beauty took all breath away.  At that moment, Carla had no question why Lind fell for such a woman.

How could he not?

She held onto that hand until sleep claimed her but instead of nightmares, she remembered her early days with her brother and being in the sect.  The dreams of yesterday were full of so much hope and she let herself fall into them.

The Fiends had ravaged them, but the Moebius Sect defied them at all corners.  The new line was established but the price was high.  Both sides pulled back and licked their wounds while the sun looked down on all equally.

The war raged on.
