Chapter 580 - 579 - Immortal vs Heaven Realm
Chapter 580 - 579 - Immortal vs Heaven Realm
"All soldiers are in place but all the scouts have had no luck breaching the barrier." Marsh was hardly surprised as weavings were impossible to unravel at the 6th circle for normal cultivators.
Formation masters could get some success but it would depend on their expertise. For a barrier it was a warder or defensive expert but Marsh felt no need to bring useless people.
He was more than enough.
The disc of Suzen's Seal appeared in his hand before he tried to simply wipe the barrier away but he felt stunned when nothing happened.
"Something from outside is impossible. It was not an Immortal weaving, so why can it resist?" Marsh spoke out loud but ignored the mumbling of the mundanes around him. He pushed more Qi into the Seal but there was only a ripple across the barrier.
Still, it stunned him to feel such resistance and get a clear view of the power of the barrier.
He clearly could feel it was a peak grade 6 weaving. Immortal Law Bindings could be considered a mid grade 7 creation although there were many factors he did not understand that could affect that.
So how could an Immortal Seal lose to a measly Heaven Realm?! Marsh finally saw sigils light up on the Seal and tried again.
The illusion of bogs rippled but still held despite a few sparks of each element flaring. Marsh had his jaw drop as did many of the formation masters.
It was clear that it was not simply the grade as the comprehension and complexity behind the weaving was stunning.
Immortal Suzen was many things, but he was neither a formation master nor a weaver. His Law Binding was something a fairly well rounded Immortal could make so long as no other Immortal or natural treasure counteracted them.
The 6 empires had no such thing save a few beasts but they rarely cared so long as their areas were left alone.
Only 1 remained to his knowledge and it did not give a damn about anything.
Marsh then summoned out a jade stone.
"This is Marsh. The Seal is not enough at what I can control. Can you attack at the following coordinates?" Marsh spoke but did not expect a response.
He simply looked up and waited.
If the invader believed they were safe, they were sorely mistaken.

Lind breathed a sigh of relief after whatever that force was that brushed his barrier. It was all thanks to Annabelle he could compete with a full realm strength above him.
He could fight above him with relative ease but his weavings had been only on par at best until she helped him make a breakthrough.
Her illusions were always stunning and could fool Sky Realms when she was only a Soul Realm. He could not pull off the same feat, but he was able to go 1 major realm above after 50 years of experimenting.
The trick had been to study in parallel with her illusion formations. He created weavings of illusions constantly and finally figured out the trick.
Her illusions were almost an alternate reality or borrowed from reality to extend it around herself. His weavings were able to mimic an environment in a similar fashion but only in fixed locations.
Whereas Annabelle could create formation plates to go with a cultivator. Lind could only create barriers around fixed points. The other thing his weavings did have was the ability to pull on background Qi to repair themselves.
Annabelle's formations could not do that at all, but it gave his weavings only a small edge as they would be disrupted during the repair process.
There were always trade offs between the professions but weaving was the most flexible in what effects could be made into a single weaving where formations would need 2 to 3 plates to achieve the same result.
"Lord Frey, can the barrier keep them out?" Livera asked the question but Lind shook his head instantly.
"They are probing but if they attacked in force, it would exhaust itself. Weavings do not have physical eyes like formations so that they are sustained by absorbing Qi like a cultivator. Once the pressure exceeds the Qi that can be absorbed, it will fall apart permanently." It was the one great weakness of weaving.
Formations could use rods, flags, or other artifacts to generate the formation effects. So long as the tools could be supplied by Qi, they will endure until the artifacts break. They could also be replaced with fresh artifacts to restore the formations, but weaving could not do that.
He could combine a Forged or refined plate to hold a weaving effect but it would suffer the same fate of breaking once Qi absorption was overcome.
He was about to speak more when a chill came down his spine.
He looked up and saw the sky was shimmering in all colors!
A feeling of dread quickly filled him and an instinct took over. Emerald scales quickly flowed but then a bright emerald light blinded all as a massive sinuous dragon appeared.
It was 3 to 4 kilometers long and had 4 arms on it. The massive mane of emerald flowed in the wind like the finest silk.
The large reptilian eyes were focused above and only then did Orbas and Levira feel the danger as well!
Glenda never looked away from their enemy nor did Sheena. They focused on the ground and left the air to the 3 powerhouses in their camp.
Still, before anyone could move, a white beam came flying down from above.
"ROOOOOAAAARRRR!" The world shook as emerald flames exploded upward and weavings lit up all around Lind. Further, artifacts deployed around the city activated all at once and beams of Qi slammed into him.
His flames exploded outward even more fiercely but blood flowed from his mouth and eyes.
The quality of Qi was far more profound coming from him but it was not something he could withstand for long. The flames and beam met to a cataclysmic shockwave!
The barrier rippled before shattering like glass and the army outside had a bright white shield appear around them. It cracked as well but held for a few moments before shattering.
The strength of the shockwave had mostly passed but many soldiers burst into bloodmist that were at the lower tiers of the Sky Realm.
The Two Rivers fared better as many artifacts around it activated and rather than try to directly clash with the shockwave, it took the energy and channeled it outward.
Entire stretches of the Hinterlands were just wiped from existence as channels exploded, yet it was enough to safeguard all the lives inside the outerwall.
"There goes our first line of defense." Sheena frowned as the artifacts had originally been designed to weaken the army by exhausting their Qi and resources while the energy was sent right back outside.
Only 1 of the channels had caught part of the army. Sadly, the barrier had flickered back for them and broken once more. Whatever made it was powerful and recovered quickly.
Still, close to 50 to 80 thousand troops had been crippled or killed by the overloaded channel.
Her brief joy of defeated enemies was overshadowed as bluish streams of energy flew from the corpses and even just the heavily wounded to a single point in their enemy. She brought a looking glass to her eye and saw him.
A Soulmancer! The monster was sucking up the souls of those no longer useful to his army!
"I really do not like those twisted creatures. Is Lind Frey alive?" The question from Livera shook her only to see a pale and bloody man land by them once more.
"Barely. I need time to recover but I doubt I will get it." Elixirs appeared and were downed instantly. Sheena felt some relief but saw they did not help Lind as much as they should.
"I am going to assume that was not what you expected to do?" Orbas asked while looking back out at the enemy army.
"Not exactly. I assumed they had some kind of control of the Law Binding but nothing like that. I hoped for an attack I could crush and make them think twice but that was something I can not stop again. Let's hope they cannot do it again quickly." Lind was in the lotus position and focusing on his recovery.
Whatever happened next, he was not in it for some time.
[If you survive, come find me Divine One.]
A voice suddenly whispered in his head but he only nodded before focusing on his recovery. Only one being would call him that.
The battle was set to begin and Lind was out of commission.

Marsh was fully recovered and began making engravings to build up some nasty tricks in the fight to come. They had to reorganize after losing nearly a tenth of their forces!
What by the cursed spirits was that beast?!
It was not the flood dragon, but a real one! It was also an Immortal Realm attack that had been thwarted. Xing was not happy.
She was very displeased they had used their trump card to so little effect. Still, there was no way the dragon was not injured after that attack. If they had removed the enemy's trump card, it was not a total loss.
The rest was up to him but he felt far more confident now.
"Begin the attack!" He shouted the order and the soldiers marched forward. He would reap all their souls once he was close enough and the war would be over!
