Chapter 572 - 571 - Elementals
Chapter 572 - 571 - Elementals
Three years had passed and the fortress town had become well fortified. Lind had learned what was wrong with his weavings but not why. Why would formation plates stop working near his weaving?
He had touched on the 4th circle but he did not understand that effect. He tried to return to the state of enlightenment he had in his battle with the Soulmancer but he was glad he had not forced it back then.
Enlightenment was helpful but sometimes he felt like his divine bloodline and the favor of Heaven pushed him farther than his comprehension. It was like the teacher was giving him the answers after watching him struggle, or helping other students catch up while stagnating on their own studies.
Still, he was happier with other aspects. Using his Arts and Forging together had made massive progress at last.
He was still only mortal grade 6 but he was now roughly all the same grade again in his professions.
Even so, he was solely focused on weaving as his enemy, despite their weaknesses, seemed to have skills he did not fully grasp. The strange battle had been lucky as he had been in that space before plus they seemed to not understand how it worked.
She had tried to treat it like a tool but it was a place all souls touched. It was far more profound and having reincarnated, attacking Lind there was about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.
His soul was reforged so many times by tribulation lightning and all his other trials, it was a great relief to have not faced an enemy on par with him. He suspected someone had gotten desperate and relied on the shortcut of other souls to keep the Soulmancer numbers up.
Still, what he feared was a weaver that turned later. The darker skill of extending life would not affect a solid weaver that got to the 6th circle the correct way.
Such a foe would crush him like an ant!
If he could truly reach the 4th thru 6th circles in the Heaven Realm, he had to strive for as much power as he could to safeguard his place in the realm.
The Two Rivers had grown to over 1000 people now but despite all the progress, they were limited by his help. Glenda had already told him the other Moon Tier or Sun Tier beasts would not come help them as they had no interest in human affairs.
If he was in true danger, they might act but only to have a dragon owe them a favor.
He accepted that so focused on his own strength. He was now attacking it from a different angle. He had felt it when reshaping the land. In the resonance of the world, he had felt like there was a faint sensation of something else.
It felt separate but familiar at the same time. He had also felt like it leant him strength to finish what he was doing.
His senses were gently stretching out such that no one in the city felt his presence. He felt the prisoners, the people, and Glenda all in the city currently. He stretched out farther out and was now at 100 kilometers in all directions.
He felt all the beasts and a few of the newly made patrols that carefully kept an eye out for soldiers or new arrivals.
None felt his presence but Lind was looking deeper. His Heaven Eyes finally evolved after so long. He was still in the Heaven Realm of power but he saw the Qi dancing once more in the very matter all around him!
The air was one thing but he could see the makeup of water, earth, and air that made up grass glowed like a light show to him.
It was not enough. He was not finding what he was looking for and looked deeper.
The world fell away as tiny motes of Qi were now all he could see. It was likely what atomic scientists would think of but instead of just atoms, there was Qi! Lind could see both!
He did not question how but followed the feeling as finally he sensed what he had felt before. It was like trying to catch a specific breeze with his bare hands. It would just flow by if he forced it but he was so very gentle.
He saw complex but unstable crimson Qi connected to air and water. It felt like something profound was about to enter his mind but then he saw sigils!
His mind focused and found wonder. His sigils were representations of ideas or intent but were 1 dimensional in nature. Cut, deflect, and so forth were concepts he would manifest and connect with traces to form weavings as he engraved them into the air.
The sigil in front of him, however, twisted and moved like it was alive!
It was integrated with the Qi like it was the skeleton and the Qi was the flesh.
"Hello." It was a bare whisper from his reduced senses but it scared the Qi beings. They quivered and Lind realized they were very fragile but his harmony flared slightly and their fear vanished in joy!
He knew these beings! He had sensed them before but never fully realized it!
He had always wondered where Qi came from or where the original cultivators had been able to create their dantian for the Soul Realm. Could these beings be a clue?!
He gave gentle feelings until in shock more showed up! They happily danced around him and he turned to watch when he suddenly saw the dome protecting the Two Rivers from their point of view.
He saw billions dancing on his weaving like it was an amusement park!
They were happy, he felt it clearly that they were joyful with his weavings.
He wished he could understand more but he began to grasp they were emotional beings yet he felt a deep intelligence was forming slowly in them. They saw him as separate but welcome.
"What are you all?" He spoke out loud in his chamber but felt shocked as a more powerful version appeared in his cultivation chamber!
He snapped his emerald eyes open and saw an ephemeral shape floating not far from him. It was vaguely humanoid but only just. It was made of all 6 elements but the balance was a bit off.
His harmony flared and the shape stabilized.
"Song…friend…kind." Words barely formed seemed to sound in his head but he noticed none of his defenses even reacted to the being with him. He at first thought he might have stumbled on aether beast and aether child manifestation seeds yet they felt different to him.
Also, no aether child could have 6 elements, at least not so far.
"Um, hello?" The rough head tilted in confusion and Lind realized he was catching intent, not real words. He closed his eyes and concentrated.
"Friend." He used intent and felt joy come back again but more cohesive than before.
"Honor…dead." Lind was shocked by the dark turn but then an image appeared in his head. He had bowed to the floating crystals where he first arrived. He had thought they were odd but now he knew they were corpses!
He recalled the feeling of solemnity and the weakness of the Qi. It was not thin by accident but because it was a graveyard!
These beings could control the flow of Qi!
A sudden idea occurred to him.
"Elementals?" He put the reference he had heard from the Babylon Guild as best he could and the being nodded! Lind was thrilled but then went back to the sigils he had seen.
His mind suddenly felt like he was struck by lightning once more! Sigils were what he had learned from watching realms and others but he had never actually played with the symbols themselves!
Could it be so simple?
He summoned a single sigil. It was a square with a single filament rising out of the middle. It represented swords. He carefully grabbed each piece of the sigil and began to flesh it out with Qi.
He had sword aura and was working on sword presence but still, he was closest to staves or swords and swords had a better sigil to work with.
He recalled the movements of his feet and the feel of power in his arms as the sword became an extension of his body. All 6 elements floated and danced as his Heaven Touch moved them around the now thickening sigil.
It flexed and distorted but held its shape as earth became steel, water the flow of the weapon, air the cut to slice, fire to bring life, light to blind the enemy, and darkness to bring down the weight of the blade.
Lind lost all sense of time but the floating being had a faint smile form before bowing and vanishing once more.
Two silver rings appeared around Lind but he paid no attention to them as he continued to make and flesh out more sigils. They were not alive like those beings but he felt the idea was right.
Weaving with his soul was not enough anymore and he saw a whole new world open in front of him.
SIgils could be so much more! He began to use traces to connect the now animated sigils as the 2 silvery rings thickened and multiplied around him.
The rest outside suddenly all felt the pressure of Heaven but it was not threatening but celebratory. Flows of Qi became visible and children laughed at it as the streets all turned towards the source.
Massive silver rings began to appear before they began to thicken and then glow with all 6 colors of basic Qi, then demonic Qi, and finally a version of Qi none recognized!
The Law Binding began to groan under pressure but only a few noticed that, yet it held firm. Still, a few panicked messages began to fly yet none knew the source of the change.
Lind, at the heart of it, was lost in enlightenment but he was controlling it as he explored every facet. Unlike his other professions, he had never been able to use demonic or Celestial Qi to make weavings.
He now understood why.
Until the 4th circle, only his soul was involved.
The 4th circle onward was connected to the Qi of the Heaven Realm and beyond. Engravings did not need just materials but Qi itself!
A ring condensed suddenly in his dantian that glowed with all 6 basic elements! Another ring condensed and compressed with sigils dancing in Qi! He was at the 5th circle!
Finally, a ring condensed made of all 3 sets of Qi! He had a perfect 6th circle. He had laid the foundation over his entire life and it all came together at that moment. Souls were in all things as well as Qi. Lind had already studied all 3 sets of Qi and now his weaving exploded forth!
I beam from Heaven slammed into the castle but it made the stone sparkle as many saw streaks of Qi dance around it in joy until it all slowly faded away.
Lind slowly opened his emerald eyes and understanding came to him.
"Elementals. So, those are elementals." He returned to his cultivation to stabilize his foundation and his newly formed rings. He also understood other 6 elemental weavers would be like him. The long struggle to the Heaven Realm was rewarded with explosive growth. He noted it all down and resumed his consolidation as the city began to celebrate.
